i have some people responding to this (not in a dismissive way) with "the people who expect trans women to dom/top and trans men to sub/bottom because of bioessentialism are also bad" and that's true! the thing about it is that theres no universal truth to st4t relationships. not every st4t relationship has people with "opposite genitalia," not every st4t relationship is binary trans man for binary trans woman, not every st4t relationship is transmasc4transfem. and like yeah dont assume how we have sex. the expectation that trans men dom/top trans women because we're men and theyre women is transphobic, misogynistic, patriarchal thinking. but also the expectation that trans women dom/top trans men because they have a penis and we dont (also assuming genitals which again dont do that) is also transphobic, misogynistic, and patriarchal. so the only non bigotted thing to do is to not assume how we have sex/how our relationships look, and to let us do what we want. which is true for a lot of things

Look, I can't make you any kind of promises. All I know is that now over a decade later, there are moments when I look in the mirror or when I laugh with my friends or when she kisses me and all I can think is "thank every god the belt gave way when I was 19."

Not everything is better. Sometimes it feels like things are just as hard, but in different ways. But everything is different. And most days, that really is enough.
