"Money doesn't equal happiness" is a ridiculous statement. It should be "physical possessions don't equal happiness." I'd be happy if I could âŹfeed all of the children currently starving outside my local soup kitchen. I'd be happy if I could fund every high school's art program in the state. I'd be happy if I could buy my parents a cabin to live in and watch the snow fall. On a more selfish level, I'd be happy to travel the world, and to find something or someone new that does make me happy, a place I never would've reached without the funds to attain it. There's an odd taboo against currency wherein we crave having it as a status symbol to brag about, but fear being judged for wanting it too badly. Currency isn't going to do anything but be exchanged for goods and or services. The mindset of why you want said currency is the perspective through which we should be examining what it equals.
