FINALLY FINISHED !!!

I’ve been at this since like September. Originally the plan was to do five panels but by the time I reached three I realized it was absolutely going to be too heavy. If the back bothers me then I’ll just buy some black fabric and sew it on.

I pinned it excessively since I have been warned the feathers won’t flatten unless blocked aggressively. They still don’t behave themselves 100% but again, if it bothers me I’m willing to steam block it in the future. Super fun before and after pics.

Pattern is of course the feathered wings shawl by my favorite pattern designer craftyintentions.

what is the spear cuts through water about? great question.

your lola said it was a romance but your dad said it is NOT romance. it's about an oppressive regime and the rebellion. the moon is there and so it the water. your lola is telling you the story but you are also watching it in a theater. it's deeply upsetting but also really funny sometimes. it's about redemption and regret. it's about longing. it's also totally gay. it's written in first, second, AND third person. it's absolute chaos but also beautifully structured. 10/10 would recommend.

“Art is happening everywhere all of the time” but an awful lot of it seems to only ever happen in New York and London, doesn’t it?

#oh this is a beserk button topic #Philly actually has a thriving theater scene--both professional and community and the weirder wilder Fringe #and we're also close enough to NYC that if someone is so inclined and has a bit of money we can swing broadway relatively easily #(and if it's something you prioritize in your life it's completely possible to do without a car and on a low budget)#(but only if you know it's there and how to access it and CAN prioritize anything outside of survival)#BUT it's not something that most people know how to find!#and theater is so gatekept that most people don't go looking for it if they don't already know it exists!#even if they'd enjoy it and could afford it!#anyway I try to take my students to at least one play a year and they're always blown away at professional theater #it's genuinely one of the great joys of my career that I can introduce kids to a world they've never had access to
