Christmas morning in Twisted Wonderland is a quiet one. There are no trees celebrating the birth of a boy, nor are there empty glasses of milk and empty plates of cookies that had been eaten the night before. Only a couple houses have a small pine tree up with limited decorations, unsure of the placement. A spare present or two sit underneath them, as if their presence isn't all that welcome.
A number of kids spill down the steps, excited to celebrate a holiday they haven't heard anyone else talk about. Ripping open a gift each, their eyes light up with joy, thanking their parents and asking if they can go play with them.
But there's a few of those kids, who instead of asking if they can go play, ask instead where their parents heard of this holiday. There's a overcast that falls over their parents eyes as they go to sit down on whatever's available next to them.
And they talk about a student that went to school with them from another world. One that had strange mannerisms and no magic, one that helped save several of their classmates, and even more regular civilians. One that came from a place where celebrating this holiday 'Christmas' was customary for a third of their world's population.
A student that returned to their home planet, but not after imprinting multiple customs onto them.
A student who they would give the world to see again.
A friend.
