Ryder smiled and hugged him tightly. “Wow… I didn’t know that, but thanks for telling me. It’s really brave of you to come out to me, and well, I’m guessing someone from this school is the lucky guy?” he pulled away from the hug. “I’m bisexual, though a lot of people already knew that.”

Ezra didn't expect all those kind reactions he's gotten so far, so he was kind of confused when Ryder hugged him. "I-- Y-yes, h-he's f-from t-this s-school", he said, still a little confused, "Y-you d-don't-- I t-thought y-you'd l-laugh a-at m-me.."

August couldn’t hold back the intake of breath when Ezra said he nearly died. He bit his lip, feeling tears spring up as he ducked his head to take a shuddery breath in. It was too much for the boy to take in, he couldn’t handle the news. “What happened?” He said in a low voice, eyes darting up to meet his.

August couldn’t believe this kind of information was being shared with him, it was heartbreaking to hear what he had to go through and August wished he had met him earlier, protected him.

Ezra could see the pain August must've felt when he told him about his backstory. It hurted the innocent little teenager to see what his actions could do to a person who seemed to truly love him. He just didn't know what to say or do, so he sat there quietly waiting for him to talk again.

When he asked what happened, Ezra just rolled up his sleeves showing him the huge scars on his wrists. He just couldn't explain, maybe because he barely remembered what happened. It was a pretty vague memory, like a dream.

"How long has he been hurting? If it’s only been for a couple months then that’s excusable, but for years that’s just cruel. It doesn’t even fall borderline on ‘questionable’, it’s straight up fucking cruel.” He said, trying to keep the anger out of his voice. He didn’t understand why Ezra would still stick up for his father, after all he’s done. It just wasn’t right.

August was never one to see the good in people. Growing up convinced that the only good people were the ones who were dead, it was safe to say he was a bitter person. Then he met Ezra, who threw all his former thoughts out the window to replace it with good things like love and hope and he was feeling really cheesy, but in a way it was kind of worth it.

"S-she-- S-she d-died e-eight y-years a-ago. A-a-and a-almost t-two y-years a-ago I n-nearly d-died t-too.", the last sentence wasn't more than a whisper. This was something not even his father knew. An old lady found him and brought him to the hospital back than and he though August deserved to know this. August deserved to know everything about him.

To Ezra, who was kind of a really romantic person once he got the chance to, it was very important that the person he was with knew all his secrets. He didn't really like having secrets in a relationship, it just didn't feel right.

"Well, your dad’s an asshole who’s a fuckin’ liar too. You deserve the best kind of love, the ones for people with hearts as pure as yours." He said, honesty lacing through the words. Now he knew who put the thoughts in, August knew he could maybe call up some connections and get something done.

But that could be saved for another day, right now, all he wanted to do was focus on the person in front of him, the blond with the blue eyes and the gorgeous smile and the heartstopping laugh. That was who he wanted to focus on today. Maybe forever.

Ezra looked up again, trying to analyse what was going on with August. "N-no, h-he's-- H-he's j-just h-hurt. M-my m-mother d-died in a c-car a-accident w-while p-picking m-me u-up a-and h-he b-blames m-me b-because h-he m-misses h-her s-so m-much. I-it's n-not h-his f-fault, I-- I c-could've w-walked h-home i-instead."

It was weird that he still tried to defend his father, but he just couldn't help. He always saw the good things in people, even though he knew they hurted him or didn't like him. It was ok, because everything was his own fault. But right now, for the first time ever, he knew he'd done something good. Something really good. Because he somehow made August love him, which was the greatest gift there was.

August smiled. “You deserve those nice things you know, all of them. Everyone here only wants to see the good you, the one who’s deserving of compliments and kisses.” He emphasised his last sentence with a kiss on the nose, pulling away to hold him in a hug, fingers carding through his hair.

If you had told August three years ago he would be dating the most phenomenal of people, he’d laugh in your face and flip you off. August didn’t believe in love, it was child’s play. Or so he thought until he met Ezra.

"M-my d-dad a-always s-said I d-don't d-deserve a-any k-kind o-of l-love...", he muttered with his eyes still closed. Why was he even talking about this? He never talked about his family at all. But he trusted August, he really trusted him. Which was weird because he never trusted anyone.

Ezra knew people considered him being the whiny little guy, so he barely dared to complain about his life. He thought a lot about it, like constantly, but he never talked about it. There was no reason for talking about it anyway.

August frowned, hand raised to wipe away the tears. “Hey, what’s wrong? Are you okay?” For a second, he thought he did wrong until he saw the smile. What was it there for, though? He kept the concern on his face as he leaned in to rest his forehead on Ezra’s, eyes searching his teary ones.

Maybe he went too far? He should’ve waited, fuck, he should have. Ezra wasn’t like everyone else he dated, who were ready to rush in for a fuck in bed before disappearing. No, Ezra seemed the type to wait until marriage and for him, August would wait eternities.

Ezra bit hit lip for a moment. He could see that August was worried, probably worried about doing something wrong which was a totally wrong assumption. The blond was pretty sure that his boyfriend could never ever do something bad at all. "N-nothing, i-it's j-just-- Y-you s-say so m-many n-nice things, I-- I n-never h-heard a-anyone s-say t-those a-about m-me."

He placed another shy kiss on August's lips before wrapping his arms around him, resting his head on his shoulder and closing his blue eyes. It felt as if he could never ever let him go again, never. All he wanted was to sit here with him forever and hold him. How weird.
