I expect I will lock all of these eventually. If you are in the middle of reading any of them and don't have an account, I have 8 invites, feel free to hit my ask or inbox. The more I think about my work (even my silly little fanfics) being used to feed the A.I. beast, the more I get squicked. I don't want to gatekeep any people, just the beast.
My main pairing is Buck/Tommy, assume it's so in all the following unless specifically stated.
9-1-1/Highlander:
Practically Everything: Buck learns Tommy is one of those immortals. Diverges from canon after the coffee date in 7.05.
Lightning Strikes Twice: the sequel. Takes place 12 years in the future. Guest stars characters from The Old Guard (movie) and TK and Carlos from 9-1-1: Lone Star.
9-1-1/Dispatcher Tommy Kinard AU:
Let's Try Being In Love: AU starting with the pilot episode, where Tommy is a dispatcher after a work injury and he takes the home invasion call and Buck meets him instead of Abby.
Step Into The Light: AU season 2 following Buck and dispatcher Tommy's relationship. Includes an alternate version of the Doug arc.
This Delicate Thing We've Made: part 3. Takes place during the second half of season 2. Tommy feels inadequate and it's putting a strain on his relationship with Buck. He goes to therapy.
9-1-1/Deep Space 9:
Far Beyond the Stars: Kinaar Tahmane is a former Bajoran refugee who's joined Starfleet. After a shuttle accident renders a pregnant passenger unconscious and in critical condition, Doctor Bashir transfers the fetus to the next available uterus: Tommy's. Did I mention he's trans in this? Then he meets the father, Lieutenant Evan Buckley.
Prophet Margin: Tommy and Buck get roped into political intrigue at the hands of Vedek Winn, as they try to navigate Tommy's surrogacy of Buck's kid.
Besieged: A xenophobic Bajoran sect stages a coup of the Bajoran government and the crew (including our boys) has to defend the station from a siege.
Night Terrors: With his ex-girlfriend back on Deep Space 9, Buck struggles with his concepts of family, and Tommy struggles with his place in Buck's life. Mysterious power outages plague the station.
Tommy, Pondering His Orb: Tommy, feeling a certain way about his estrangement from religion, visits a Bajoran monastery and once again gets caught in Vedek Winn's web.
Fathers and Sons: It's the Bajoran Gratitude Festival on DS9. There is much to be grateful for, and much to be annoyed by.
The Maquis, Part 3: Tommy and Buck undertake a dangerous mission on behalf of Captain Bobby Nash. Takes place a few months after DS9 episode 2.21 "The Maquis, part 2" but I summarize what you need to know in the first chapter.
Buck Begins Again: Thrown back in time to 2019 Los Angeles, Buck makes some new friends and tries to figure out a way back home. Tommy and Karen try to find a way to bring him back.
Counterbalance: Settled back at home on Deep Space Nine, Buck and Tommy think about what's next. While Tommy tries to plan a surprise for Buck's birthday, Buck's thinking along different lines... A chill, low-stakes DS911 episode.
Fools and Mortals: It's once again time for the Bajoran Gratitude Festival, and Kinaar Liara Buckley's first birthday. Of course it doesn't go as expected. But once the madness dies down, Buck and Tommy plan for their future. [Crack-fic of a crack-episode. You know the one.]
Destiny: An ancient Bajoran prophecy of doom complicates the first joint Bajoran, Cardassian, and Federation science mission. Keela's ongoing research into the mycelial realm ruins Tommy's entire weekend.
9-1-1:
Not Like That: The crack mpreg fic that started a new era of madness. Not trans, not carrier-verse, but a secret third thing.
His Valiant Heart: AU where they work at the Renaissance Faire. Prompted by @peppermintquartz
Almost Unreal: Tommy Kinard is a witch under the Roman Empire's Stregheria. Evan Buckley is an emergency responder in the Norse colony of Vinland in the new world. You wouldn't expect their paths to cross, except for a dream Buck had after being marked by Thor. For LadyEyre as part of the 2025 Bucktommy Gift Exchange.
9-1-1 shorts:
Flags: Buck's first Pride Fest after coming out.
It's Not What You Think (SWAT crossover): Post-breakup, Buck finds a distraction. Eddie makes the wrong assumption.
Crab Boats: Supermarket woes.
9-1-1/SWAT:
Hero Worship: Connor follows Buck's footsteps and joins the LAFD. While firefighters are being targetted by a sniper, he meets a certain SWAT Sergeant named Rocker. Then he sees him at a bar with Buck and everything changes.
SWAT:
Whatever This Is: Aftermath of season 8's 'Deep Cover' episode, where Miguel considers his feelings for Stefan, with some help from Rocker.
Miguel: text messages between Miguel and Stefan while Stefan is in rehab.
Just a casual reminder that posting on the internet about how you would want to do physical harm to members of the US government is something that they can (and will) detain you over, so just be careful what you say in public spaces like, uh, on Tumblr.
this is your semi-regular reminder that tumblr has cooperated with the fbi to hand over user information in a very public way at least once. and that's not the only way the feds can collect information on you either
I’m sorry Europeans but America is the culmination of the European project of colonization, enslavement and capitalism. This is your child not claiming them doesn’t make them not yours. America is merely an extension and a continuation of Europe on other shores, as is Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
You’ve been more than happy to align yourself with America for these very reasons. It’s profitable, your own colonial ventures may even get backed up militarily by America and you can still seem progressive in comparison while being an accomplice.
You can’t wash your hands of centuries of blood at the last minute when America is collapsing. “Oh we were never like that, that’s an American problem, we never colonized or enslaved or bombed, not us no no no” that won’t protect your nation’s governments from the future crimes against humanity tribunals sorry!
That's what bothers me too. They just don't want to make time for personal stories even though that's what made everyone fall in love with the show and the characters. There are enough random procedurals, that's not what made 911 special. They used to give bobby and athena multiple separate stories plus grand romantic gestures as bathena. Where did that time go? If chim/kenny obviously doesn't want to be the leading man, why can't they let buck/oliver take over? He gets to cook like bobby and that's it?
Don't get me wrong I love seeing him in promo interviews but they're just using him. That poor man doesn't even get a story of his own anymore. And they used to be the best, we still talk about the tsunami and the lawsuit and the lightning strike and bi buck today. They still inspire fics too lol while the new eps are giving nothing.
yeah exactly, they've lost the soul of the show
abandoning the individual storylines just makes it worse because now what is there to care about with these characters?
i'm having some thoughts on the baffling lack of individual storylines and poor characterisations so bear with me while i untangle the mess..
everyone was so excited about the move to a new network - it started out so hopeful with finally letting Buck be bi! but the individual storylines since the move has been 90% soap opera trash out of left field for shock value with little regard for continuity and with little to no follow through and what they do follow through on they end up botching.
okay: i do think they did a decent job of Mara's storyline and Henren's family, but it still had the problem of siloing Hen into her family unit outside of work - which has been a problem for every character since season 7:
the 118 has work scenes together, then everyone shuffles off to their family units where they eat a meal and talk, with little to no overlap (let alone intertwining B-plot) except to have someone over for dinner or a coffee, probably while someone does housework or parent the kids in the background, and there's some *drama* which is addressed, like.. huh? i know parenting and kids is an element of their lives and we do need drama in the drama show, but: what happened to actual slice of life scenes? yeah we got some Madney and Henren overlap in s8 but it was: let's have dinner while worrying about Mara.
what happened to the fun side quests????
(i'm not even talking about full filler eps like Treasure Hunt - by omg i miss full filler eps; thankfuck we had Masks but it was still mired in unnecessary shock-value angst for Henren - i just mean all the filler stuff in people's lives that fill them out as people and not just work-and-relationship dolls.)
they took away the fun outside-work interactions but they also refused to let anyone have a fucking personality: no one has any hobbies or fun outings (this is one reason i miss chris!! because we got variable plot and fun outings etc etc!!), there's no surface-level fun friendship stuff (unless it's poking fun of Buck at work) it's just all work and familyORromantic relationships (Masks was a rare welcome gem but again: still not enough) and deep-n-meaningful convos that are then brushed aside while the interesting threads of those characters are ignored.
and we should have seen a lot more Bucktommy in s7/s8 but we barely got any. they introduce this amazing new relationship and dynamic!! and hen.. don't explore it all? [*insert Gru's plane meme*] then they rope Buck into other people's drama instead of letting him have his own rich storyline.
there are sooooo many good dropped storylines - this post would get too long to name them all..
s8 was fumble after fumble: gerrard and ortiz were set up for season-long baddies but instead we got redeemed (*GAG*) gerrard who was also made a goofy old bastard?? and ortiz done away in like ep4 or something?? and instead of exploring Bucktommy and Tommy's character and have them work scenes together (even if Harbor was out of the budget location-wise) and show Tommy's friendships with the rest of the 118, we get a breakup (triggered by reasons that go against canon) and then 2 seasons of a guy pining through baked goods and then some damaging bisexual rep. that's it.
s9 ignoring Buck's grief bc they wanted to introduce *new drama* for Hen. focusing on Harry instead of focusing on Ravi. Buck's absent career progression.
—and that's not even touching on everyone else's characterisation (Maddie's kidnap thing was insane, unnecessary, and obviously done bc they've written her as someone who just works and folds laundry and has no personality for 3 seasons so let's make her the victim of traumatic violence again ig? Eddie's doppleganger was stupid af, his texas move was interesting but again fumbles when he returned to the team to shoehorn in heroics that belittle and overshadow others - and that's just s8 stuff).
..i could go on. my key takeaways of the last 3 seasons are these:
they've lost the magic of writing ensemble storylines
they've forgotten how to write interesting individual storylines
they silo characters into family units outside work
they drop interesting plot points like hot potatoes
they ignore canon events
they ignore characterisation / write ooc scenes/plot
no one has any real personality, everyone feels like a puppet
they shoehorn shock-value plots in for "entertainment"
they ignore everything that made this show so loveable
i think the general fan sentiment towards 911 lately seems to be:
*gonna remind folks that i'm not watching this season, i'm absorbing through dash osmosis, so i may have missed some good things re:plot + character bits so feel free to add those and point out the ways the writers have actually managed to harness some of that older seasons goodness bc we all need a little hope in these trying times 🫶
In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly don’t get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.
I used to use Google docs, but the white mode only was really annoying me (tires my eyes), so I swapped to Ellipsus (which I genuinely love and recommend), but it was bothering me a bit that I need wifi in order to use it, so now I switched to LibreOffice Writer, which I do like.
It very much has a Microsoft Word feel, but is open source and you need no accounts to use it. It's local on your device, so no AI can scan it, and no wifi is needed.
I still wish it had the Google Docs cards, because, bitch, that thing is so good for easy organizing.

Summary:
A Bajoran prophecy, raging hormones, and Kai Winn's bigotry have a field day with Tommy. Keela's latest experiment goes extremely awry.
surprisingly forward-thinking of jim henson and co. to make a female character in the 70's that's allowed to be loud-mouthed and violent and kind of overwhelmingly romantic and even a huge bitch at times and not have a moment where any character asks her to change
going through all the muppet movies in a row made me realize that like. miss piggy was made in the 70's. and it's so rare even today to have a character like her. she's loud, she's selfish, she's funny, she's extremely vain, she's obsessed with romance, she's violent, she's kind of annoying, and there's not a single moment in any of these films where she's asked to tone down any of these personality traits. i am not joking when i say that miss piggy might be one of the best treated female characters ever written
