One the best Y. A. authors I have ever had the pleasure of reading has passed away. L. A. Meyer has given his readers tale after brilliant tale of Jacky Faber’s journey from That Dark Day on the London Streets to the sea swept deck of the Lorelei Lee. He carried us with Jacky to see the “Cathy Cat and the Bengal Rat and gaze upon the Kangaroo”. Dear Jacky Faber fandom on Tumblr,

I am a weirdo who doesn’t really like to engage with my fandoms on the internet overly much, so I tend to be late to the party when it comes to releases of my favorite things (I JUST found out via NPR that my all-time favorite band got back together for a new album releasing in 2 weeks?), but every March I do make it a habit to pre-order the new Jacky Faber book, if I can find it, and have done for 10 years now.

That’s 10 years of Bloody Jack…

Anyway, I found the newest on Amazon today and the title basically confirms that it is the last in our dear heroine’s saga. And it’s going to be released on November 4th.

The first one, I despise reading out of order and avoid it when I can.  

Character development is so much better if you read in order.

When I was 12 my sister started something that would prove to become somewhat of a routine between us-

she practically forced me to read a book.

I mean she. would. not. let. up. I was already an unhappy kid at this point and having my older sister constantly bugging me was annoying as hell. Eventually after a month (& while faced with a 5 hour car ride) I relented and agreed to read the book.  

   ~  and a love affair began  ~

I within the next week I had read up to In the Belly of the Bloodhound, that being all that was out at the time.  I didn't just read them, I read and reread until I could recite all of my favorite parts by heart, could answer any question someone might ask, to this day I have the first passage of the the prologue memorized.

and after that I waited those agonizing months for the next book to come out, and the next, and the next.  I checked the website constantly, which we all know is a major disappointment 99% of the time, just hoping that maybe this time will be it, damn near praying for an update.  I scoured the Bloody Jack Boards for new info and read until my books fell to pieces (literally my first copy of UtJR is in like 4 pieces, I've since bought a new one.)

You know- I've gotten way off topic, I'll stop here.  But here's a little ship for getting this far.
