Yet indeed, at the former Maxwell’s outburst he would take a precautionary step back, for he knew the fury her hands could hold should she wish to execute them. Perhaps he was a little disappointed, such emotion unmasked by the fall of his gaze to the floor.
"So.. it wasn’t actually you, then..?" With a sigh, Ludger would realise the new puzzle that arose. "Then who was it..?!"
"Like I would know." There was only little time proffered before she was bombarded with Ludger's nonsensical drivels. But truly... it was a puzzlement to his sudden transition into disappointment. Towards what extent was he anticipating from her? "Why do you look so beaten up anway?"
kresniklancer:
"B-But there’s no-one else it could be. It had to be you asking if I would date you…" His words were more directed to himself, voicing his innermost monologue aloud as a single digit rose to absentmindedly scratch at his cheek.
"D---Date?!" If possible, fair skin flushed into a shade of red and palm itching to treat him into a hearty smack. But that was not performed for the culprit behind such misconceptions were more deserving of the treatment. And perhaps the idea of dating Ludger was not too repulsive.
kresniklancer:
"But—! You said—" Oh, he seemed to be in dangerous territory. Perhaps he had been a little too forward, and that was not how she wanted to do things. The agent’s teal-golden eyes had widened through the shock that this didn’t seem to be any sort of facade anymore. "Former Maxwell, long hair, once had the power of The Four —it had to be you!”
"I said what?" Milla recalled she said naught of what would summon such a request out of him. Indeed that those were her descriptions but--- what was he blabbering on about? "I honestly don't recall saying anything to you. While I don't know who has been acting around with my identity but you should go and check who is behind it."
chimeriadking:
So this was the hostility he had been warned of by Rowen. It was understandable, and really Gaius had no right in trying to comprehend the feeling of losing their whole world: Spirits knows how he would react under such pressure. But regardless, the king felt it was his duty to try and at least help if he could. If Milla didn’t care for his words, that was her choice.
"It is true that it is gone, and none can hope to bring it back. Certainly, if there was a possibility to co-exist, it would surely be what Ludger and his companions would strive for. But the universe is not kind, even to those who deserve that kindness. Your grief is expected, Milla.
"But answer me this, would those you held dear in your world wish to see you trapped in your sorrow? Imprisoned in feelings that do not allow you to move forward and begin anew? While no-one can bring back your world - much to their own agony - those around you are willing to help you thrive in this new one."
"Are you serious? Them, helping me thrive in their world?" They were of no complete monsters, that itself was patent. But neither were they wholly accepting of her presence. Despite the tongue that spoken of her to have been her own person, how many times had their blatant comparisons reached her ears? How many times had they termed the otherwise object of comparison with 'real'? They were undoubtedly people with goodwill but even those kinds would possess lashing venom, intentional or not. A living being has all potential to heal and hurt. And they were of no exceptions. "I've seen the way they have behaved around me. Even that doctor of yours avoids me when possible and had his comrades assisted. I am simply the image of their friend, or --also -- the Maxwell you are acquainted with. Having me survived from the destruction of my world was not their intention. Thus, even if what you speak are true, I highly doubt I feel better listening to it with your tedious voice." "--Let's go."
chimeriadking:
Tedious? Perhaps Milla did not understand why it was special to him? Folding his arms, Gaius tilted his head a little as he asked, “Tell me, did you have places that held important meanings to you? Something far greater than the simple location itself: an importance that can only be held in your mind?”
Perhaps that would help Milla understand his feelings towards the coliseum.
"Of course but it is now lost. I have nothing to hold dear other than my life." Silly of her to allege seeking for the fate of her world -- when it was patent as day that it will forevermore be missing. Chastise her being weak, if you may, but no further strength could be summoned to ward off threats towards a home or sister now non-existent. Perhaps the matters of importance was relatable but endeavouring towards an existing purpose? None.
chimeriadking:
Now that strength of will was familiar: while he could easily see the differences between this Milla and Prime Milla, their similarities did strike Gaius as interesting. Not that he would voice such an opinion. Instead, he nodded to her technical agreement, “I have no intention to: I intend to fight upon the sacred battlefield of my forefathers as though it was my last stand. I hope to see the same from you, Milla.”
"Figures you would have a tedious reason to fight in a simple arena." It was deemed worthy to busy time and naught else. If it was anything to go by, she would've accepted the rationale of striving to be triumphant for her pride. That wouldn't entail clashing blades to the death ( what for to meet their demise in the eye for such petty reasons? ). As typical, she would never comprehend this king.
tacticalscholar:
Word after word struck him like a chord and everything she had mentioned thus far stung. Maybe he did deserve to be called out for his comments about her but she was the splitting image of the woman he greatly admired. Everyone else made statements akin to that of what she said, not just him but he was the one most effected by this, there were several reasons why yet he wouldn’t voice any. He shook his head, disagreeing with her queries and amber orbs looked up towards her when he heard her last set of words. “No, it’s the truth. I don’t say it because it’s good to say. I realised as we travelled that you have individuality, you are different to her. And I don’t want you to die.” Jude wanted to bring his main point across but he had trouble considering the predicament he was in now. "And I know my comments wouldn’t make up for what I said to the others nor would an apology be sufficient for all of it. It’s why I’ve been helping you when you wanted certain items, I wanted to know you for you, not as a counterpart of her.” When all was said and done, he observed her as he was unsure of what could occur from this point onward.
"So, just because you've done good deeds for me automatically nullify what was said at your whims?" Tension was hereupon dropped but little signs were there of her satisfaction. It was undeniable that the tongue of theirs bequeathed scathing scars ( though argumentatively not as fatal as spoken ) but once should have been enough. Milla -- too -- applauded the sheer loyalty and devotion towards their friend as someone such as herself had none of those ties other than her ( abusive ) sister, such matters of the heart would be cherished. Yet it may be their utter exhibition of bond have her envious, yearning for a similar pledge with them -- who had proven capable to be faithful. Alas fate had perched her upon a wretched ground, condemned her image to be spitting on their absent comrade. Disheartening it was.. as such companions were indeed difficult to go by ( if one lacked forbearance and privilege to scour ). "I have noticed that you've been avoiding me too. By all means, I am not desperately asking for your acceptance or friendship. I travel to ascertain the fate of my world and nothing more. After unthinkably extinguishing my dimension, at least have courtesy to not spit at my kind. That's all."
tacticalscholar:
His gaze lowered, ebony locks brushed across his forehead while he listened to her words. Jude stared at the ground in uneasy silence before he mustered the courage to speak up again. “No, you are not her. You are your own person with your own set of quirks.” After that, he became quiet and silently wondered how long it had been building up for her but he wouldn’t dare ask. He was in hot water as it were, the researcher held his tongue, giving her room and time to speak if she needed to say more.
"The irony of singing that song when all of you felt the need to make a verbal distinction between us. I don't dress the same as her, I don't possess the same note of authority as she does and so on. Why make those remarks when I am my own person? Do you understand what it means or does it simply feel good to say?" Abrasive was her nature and tongue would not discount her scathing potential. May it be unfair for Jude ( as he may have his own reasons for acting as they did ) but it was unpardonable to speak and act otherwise. "You could have told me that my presence was distracting and I would have sought my own path. Or what? Are you scared that I might run away from my well deserved demise and result in your Milla not returning forevermore?"
Concerned optics shifted into her direction as he had been stirred from what he was doing by her sudden utterance of words, he dropped everything he was doing and he headed in her direction. “Milla?” Jude was worried about her and if she desired, he’d listen to her no matter what. “Is something troubling you?”
Did he assume her a fool? To be ignorant of their blatant bias towards their Milla? She comprehended it, she understood — naught she tries would ever be adequate. Her lips was tight, merely due to the presence of a child but stifling it was to endure such blarney. Little would it mattered if they deemed her unworthy but let it be heard that her ears would tolerate none of their language. ”Me? Don’t you mean yourself? My presence is just a hinderance, isn’t it? That I am not Maxwell — that me, out of all people, is not your Milla. I get it. I got it! There is no need for all of you to keep shoving it in my face!”
"I am not Milla Maxwell! Stop your useless comparisons -- nothing you say will make me anywhere remotely like her and I will not behave as her! I am neither real nor fake, I'm just -- Milla!"
chimeriadking:
"I’m not sure I know what you mean." There’s a distinct hint that Gaius knew exactly what she was talking about, but there was no point dwelling on it. The King certainly wasn’t as he moved swiftly on, “There is no scheme, just a simple request that you join us. No-one shall force you ether way: the choice is yours.”
Tentative optics did not stray from the king's mien, as with every other times. Those resided within the prime were conundrums to the fractured woman ( save for some ) and none within Ludger and Elle's chaperons had proven her otherwise. "Darn right the choice is mine." And she would exert that in explicit timbres. "Just don't hold me back in the arena, got it?"
Classic Milla. It was entirely endearing how she acted as though she had no clue what was going on, a self-preservation technique for her pride, no doubt. Ludger could only smile.
“How about you enlighten me on where you wanna go for our first date?”
Smooth operator Ludger Kresnik.
The mere articulation of the word 'date' was sufficient in spiralling her mind into tiers of perplexity. Red violently airbrushed aloft fair skinned cheeks, and posture stiffened in astonishment. What gall of this--deadbeat! "F--First date?! Did you just wake up from your nap??"
"Milla— You didn’t have to hide you know. You could’ve just asked me yourself."
"What are you on about this time? Mind enlightening me first?"
"Who are you talking to?"
fabricatedextant liked for a starter!
"It just came to my attention that you never truly expressed an opinion in accompanying us to the coliseum. So I ask you again, care to join us?" Fractured or not, Milla would be a formidable force in the arena, and Gaius would be more than happy to fight alongside her.
Much of a fool they exhibited under the cunning manipulation of the king. Thirst to fight was apparent but was subdued in favor of witnessing their puerile exchanges. "Just watching you roping those idiots into joining under your scheme is satisfying. I'm not about to be one of them." Though her fingers do twitch at the prospect.
