Let Black Women Be Princesses
In an interview after the Oscars, Viola Davis said she felt like a princess when she got her Oscar. She followed up by saying she never feels like a princess. In the notes of the gifset here on Tumblr, you’ll notice people, plenty of non-Black people specifically, saying she’s never felt like a princess because she is a Queen.
Now. There is a certain vulnerability and softness that comes with feeling specifically like a princess. A sweet delicate nature that Black Women are often stripped of. If she says she felt like a princess, she should be allowed the room to say PRINCESS not Queen. Queen is often tied to strength and a larger-than-life image that people LOVE to project onto their favorite Black Women, celebrity or not. Sometimes it’s nice….other times, it’s EXHAUSTING. You mean well, but relax.
Let Viola, and Black Women, be princesses.
what will future historians do with this
this is The Human Experience
When everyone is gone this will be the only explaination left for a higher intelligence.
humanity at its best tbh
INFP cognitive functions solve a small problem:
Stomach: I’m hungry. I’m hungry. Feed me. I’m hungry. I’m hungry…
Si: See, this is why we should have eaten before leaving campus!
Te: And get overpriced, mediocre cafeteria food? We only have one class today and we’re going straight home!
Stomach: I’m hungry. I’m hungry. I’m hungry. I’m hungry…
Ne: Where is the off switch on this thing?
Fi: Hey, Stomach, buddy, we’ll be home in no time and then we can have lunch and video chat Lily. Won’t that be nice?
Stomach: I’m hungry. I’m hungry. I’m hungry…
Si: We should have packed a lunch.
Te: That’s not helpful. Will somebody please do something?!
Ne: Okay, uhhhh, I’ve got it. We still have some ice tea in our backpack. It has sugar in it. Isn’t that what the body wants?
Si: Hey, yeah I think that’s worked before!
[drinks tea]
Stomach: …
Si: I think it worked.
[person walks onto the bus with a box of donuts]
Stomach: I’M HUNGRY! I’M HUNGRY! I’M HUNGRY!…
All the functions: DAMMIT!
why did someone steal a conversation from my mind and post it w/o my consent??
Look at him appreciate cultures without wearing them as a costume. It’s that easy.
also actually hiring people who belong in that culture.
And featuring them in a song promoting diversity without shitting on other cultures.
I love him.
Black folks in steampunk. Latino led horror films, pacific islanders in sci-fi, Native Americans on screen in general and Middle Easterners in comedy…
