@rogueprinceconsort was a poor unfortunate soul
“ What’s this ? ”
She held the shiny orb in her hand, inspecting it a little as she brings it closer to her face. Ariel had seen these things fall from the hands of men leaning too far over the ships edge, they bobbed in the water and she had almost brought it to her lips. But there was a -- F E A R -- that she would die from it. It was man-made after all. Father had taught all of his daughter ( quite sternly ) that everything that men did was meant to harm them. They harpooned whales --- sometimes just for sport ! ! And they left troves of fish entangled in their nets, their life ended right there without a chance of escape. It was not until she had made the deal with the Sea Witch that she had understood anything more than what had been presented to her. Humans could be GOOD, you just had to give them the chance. Her thumbs run over the skin of the apple as she looked up with wide eyes, “ What’s it called I mean ? ”
Long eyelashes blink as she halts herself from walking. Everything on land was so CURIOUS. It was like learning how to swim again. She knew the steps but there were different melodies to follow, different paths to take. Not to mention that there were so many THINGS that they didn’t have in Atlantica. The words that Scuttle had taught her proved to be worse and worse advice as her stay continued. Slowly, Ariel brings the thing to her lips, mouth agape, about the take a bite -- when she stops prematurely, “ I am meant to EAT it yes ? That is what I have always seen sailors do. ”
im short & bitter
“This is hopper four-zero-two-four-one-one-LN, and you can call me Lyn.”
The widest, daffiest grin Leia had ever seen on Amilyn’s face appeared, as though nothing was wrong or ever could be.
“Hey-ey.”

The war was not over.
They had won the battle over of the Death Star though. Sometimes a single win was enough to ignite the cause again. It was hard to keep up morale when they were continuously outnumbered, and out planned by the EMPIRE. Constant carnage was a damper on all the good that they were doing. They had lost a lot in an effort to both retrieve the plans for and destroy the weapon that was meant to kept the Empire in control. It was unfortunate but in some ways the Princess was more adept at warfare, and strategy than she ever was for politics. Her temperament was better suited in this environment that when she had been in the Senate, her clear opinions were allowed to be expressed without reprimanding or censoring.
“You did good today,” She said, approaching the Commander with a soft smile. Leia was going her best to thank everyone that she encountered today -- to make them understand how VITAL they were to the cause. “ I cannot thank you all enough, the type of commitment and bravery that you have shown. I will do nothing but reward you in the future.” The silence swells for a moment as her words hang from her lips, without a resolute ending. With their gains had come immeasurable loss. She knew that, as she knew that he did as well. “The tide is turning in our f a v o r, I can feel it.”

@justallnerves was flat fucking crazy ( batshit I hear )
Carrie had seen the recital.
It had been ROUGH. And that was coming from a girl whose mother thought that being locked in a closet was acceptable punishment. She wasn’t friends with the girl she wasn’t friends with anyone really, a f r e a k like her? However, they had been in the same classes for a few years, enough for her to notice how the girl acted. Unlike Sue Snell or Chris Hargensen she had never been interested in the whims of popularity that seemed to entrance high schoolers. Natalie had always been more focused than that --- so to see her LOSE control onstage was jarring to say the least. She had felt that urge to devolve into madness, or uncategorized notes on a piano -- but she had never given into it. Not yet at least.
With small steps she approaches the girl, clearing her throat and clutching her school books close to her chest. “You did really well last night, I e-enjoyed your piece.” She’s not good at this, and the words linger, eyes trained on the d i r t y floor. “You can tell it’s what you’re SUPPOSED to be doing, like you’ve always been doing it.”
interprcted:
he barely registers her calling out to him, barely recognises her honestly, but the clinging hug, the scent of her hair, the familiarity of her tone convinces him that it’s her. “ hey, baby. ” emotions stir and agitate into a knot in the pit of his stomach, but he’s always been good at holding those back. at least for the moment while they get greetings, timelines and reassurances out of the way. he can’t waste time by bursting into tears and losing a grip, reminding himself of this again as they let each other go, and he steps back to properly look his daughter over.
“ wow… i don’t think i’ve seen you at this age yet. definitely not. ” henry’s hands are firm on her shoulder, as if he let her go he’d disappear right then. which is a real possibility. he wants to cling to the here and now, for longer than a few minutes. “ i’m coming from may 7th, 2004. i was at mama’s art exhibit at the cultural center with you and gramps. but— i couldn’t hold it together. i vanished ended up… wherever the hell we are and grabbed some clothes in one of the janitor’s closets. hence the sweaty smelling coveralls. ” henry smiles, a brilliant smile that curves beautifully against his scruffy countenance, moving his hands from her shoulders to her face, cupping alba’s cheeks, taking her in, memorising how beautiful she is. she’s very clare right now, down to the hug and the rapid fire inquiries. “ when are we ? mom, clare. how is she? ”
She wants to melt.
To pause the timeframe and to hold him close -- like TIME is not an obstacle. Time has given them a lot of gifts, but it has taken with a viciousness that is unparalleled. It’s an ebb and flow that lives within her, and eat away at the ones she loves with no way to mitigate their harm. They just took their toll, deeper into her mother’s psyche, and deeper into the time that she always ended up missing. The time he had missed. Their condition was a gift, and a curse, and sometimes it felt more like the latter than the former. She was blessed in the fact that she could control it more than most, dictate the time and places where she would disappear at well.
Alba didn’t want to dwell anymore, but live in the moments that she had. “You’re not as tall as I remember,” She joked, a sly smile playing on her lips. Intrusive thoughts fill her mind, it had been so l o n g since the last visit -- she didn’t think there would be anymore. It was not uncommon for the visits to stop, especially if they had not been mentioned by Clare prior to Alba existing. Part of her wondered if this would be the LAST. Not that any of the DeTamble’s had ever stopped waiting for him. “You smell great, honestly, it’s a good scent on you -- maybe you can try and find a sweat covered overall scent in 2004 ? ”
When his hands reach her cheeks it takes a lot in her to not sub-come to the tears that spring to her eyes. She is not going to spend the precious time she had with him crying -- she wouldn’t allow it. “Mom is good. She’s still painting, and she misses you of course. Neither of us have seen you in such a long time . . . we thought the museum would be the last visit.” She gave a laugh, “ I know it doesn’t look like much, but this is where I live. Apartment 224 to be exact. I needed to be a little closer to school than Mom was willing to move, so I stay here, and visit her frequently on weekends. Would you like to come upstairs ?”
