It had been at least a day since he was in Unova.
He was here simply on a business trip, one as the duty of a researcher. One of his projects had required him to come here, so he wasted no time getting here. So far progress has been made, but there was still much for him to do. Having a need to document more Pokemon, the researcher decided that the best place to go is Pinwheel Forest – there was no better place for such things than a forest. There was always some type of Pokemon lurking around the tall grasses.
Not wanting to get caught up in the Battle Subway, he decided to use his Honchkrow’s flight to get him there. He released the Pokemon before wrapping a gloved hand around its ankle, his silver eyes glancing up as he begins to hover along with the bird. He watched carefully as he flew along his voyage, looking for groups of trees to signalize a forest. It wasn’t very long before he finally got to his destination; he landed promptly in front of the battle subway, surprised that it didn’t really take that long.
Though, he was quickly alarmed by the sudden sound of yelling coming from afar. What the hell was she— wait, that was when it hit him. He finally looked up and noticed the flames burning down the area around him. Just what the hell was going on and how the heck did he miss it?!
Apparently it wasn’t going to get better.
Fear coursed through his veins once he noticed the tree fall down, trying to figure out what he was going to do. He clenched his teeth as he tried to piece together his next course of action, finding that it was…too late. He let gasp of surprise and shock passed his lips once the girl ran over and practically tackling him, groaning when the tree fell and crushed both of them.
Fuck!
Though he was injured, his gloved hand reached to grab at the female’s arm, trying to see if he could push. Damn, that tree really got them good. He could faintly hear people calling for help as he just laid there with his savior, really hoping that she was okay. What was going to happen to them? How were they supposed to get out of this? These questions ran through his mind, his head growing a bit foggy before his eyesight began to blacken and the whole world seemed closed off from him.
‖❦‖▬ : An upper limb was slung around the stranger's crown in an automatic reflex, shielding his thin-boned complexion from a downpour of fractured wooden shards. Touko winced as the charred timber yielded underneath gravity's constant pull, toppling over from its almighty stance to a shameful slope. Darkness immersed the pair in an inky tarpaulin, and the young trainer's lungs nearly drowns in the cataclysm of oppressive sultry. Branches snapping in cracked disunity resounded among the clearing, pursued by another crash before the commotion died into a high-frequency drone. Eyelids drew their curtains, and pastel pupils darted to and fro to examine their whereabouts. How did they survive? Front teeth clinched upon her lower lip as she noticed their current position had narrowly missed the tree's thicker width, where a single inch would have decided the course of their lives. Life loved playing around with its creation, didn't it? Oh, it was all too sadistic. Anxiety churned in the trainer's stomach as she swept the boy's disheveled bangs away to check his condition. Her heart hammered faster in velocity as she discovers his lifeless state, and numbing panic threatened to seize her until his dilating chest proved he was unconscious.
Sweat trickled down the bridge of her nose as it dawns upon the brunette that death's scythe still forged its frenzied pursuit if they didn't escape the flames' threshold quick. Moreover, the chattering of incoming citizens fueled her incentive to incite their breakout. Perhaps this explains her inner logic in traveling alone; if she's unable to achieve in making everyone happy, then being capable to physically protect her companions was an absurd task. Touko lowered her arms, muscles straining under her skin as digits pried leather hems for the familiar steeled capsules. Chapped lips breathe in sharply once elbows brushed against the splintered mass, and she disentangled her approach for her carnal companions. Put at a disadvantage, her jaw visibly clenches in tightened fear as the fire rekindled the innate burrow in dim saturation of copper. Bronze bells persisted ringing in her eardrums, and the horizon separating real and imaginary blurs into a vague borderline as the excessive smoke began to take its toll. Writhing under the cramped space, her fingers dug into the soil's deeper tiers, anchoring herself to assist her body's breakout. Sparks showered over the ground, its glorified streamers disintegrating into all but soot. Jagged remnants etched their carnelian signatures along her thighs and calves, but the well-being of the redhead's motivates her on-wards. She crawls into freedom with one final heave, liberated from the hellish gap just in the nick of time. Wheeling around a one-hundred eighty degrees, the idealist's arms hooked below his, dragging his heavy weight in frantic strife.
Ears catching the faint tearing of clothes, she shrugs off the misfortune and interpreted this as a good indication. If these costed her a wallet, so be it; scrambling back unto raw kneecaps, Touko fastened her grip upon his shirt firmly and wrenched his body over to the opposite undergrowth, ripping apart the stitched fabric into threaded webs. At once, she scrabbles over besides the man's ribs, shaking his broad shoulder in undeniable hope that he would awaken from such a fathomless stupor. Out cold, almost sharing too close of a resemblance to that of a corpse... He's okay, he's alive. Mentally reciting her prayers to repel the overwhelming flood of negativity, the trainer then hoisted his forearms around her neck and limped down the road into the loathing embrace of paparazzi.
‖❦‖▬ : ❝...Please be alright. Wake up, mister.❞

★ ☆ ★ — A map of Sinnoh? Now, how did she manage to get her hands on that, when she was headed somewhere far, far away from there? He couldn’t help smiling a little - Gold felt bad for the traveler, but at the same time, her misfortune was just the slightest bit amusing.
Shaking such thoughts upon the stranger’s introduction (it was rude to find it funny, anyway), Gold gave another one of his signature sunny grins, sticking out his own hand to shake the other’s. “Tou it is, then. Pleased t’ meet ya! Name’s Gold. Gold Hart. ‘N as fer yer little map problem there, ya found the right guy! I got a map o’ Johto in my bag. Jus’…gimme a second."
► With that, he shrugged his bag off his shoulder, knelt down to unzip it, and began rummaging through all his supplies. The trainer wasn’t exactly very organized himself, even despite all the convenient compartments his bag had. But he definitely wasn’t disorganized to the point where he could bring a map of the wrong region along on a trip.
"Hm…coulda sworn I put it in this compartment," he mused, still digging around for his map. He aimed an apologetic look at Touko before going back to his search. "…Aha! Found ya!"
Gold stood back up, slinging his backpack back over his shoulder and triumphantly holding out the chart he’d been looking for. Handing it to Touko, he asked, “This help ya any?"
‖❦‖▬ : ❝--Gold Hart, eh?❞ the brunette granted the stranger's name to sink into memory, allowing it to be engraved alongside her list of new encounters. ❝Real pretty; kind'a sounds like golden heart, y'know? As in the curvy shape on Valentines!❞ Most of her first impressions weren't as gallant as she'd like them to be...instead, she was conceived as a clueless tourist more than ever. During the meantime, her attention floated astray to the surrounding landscape, absorbing the foreign region with utmost curiosity. There was a vast openness about the area, compared to the compressed space back in Unova's metropolises. A property that shared her hometown's characteristics, she felt rather homely in her current location. Settling herself comfortably into the serene ambiance, her focus upon the natural greenery is dragged away back to the lad.
❝This help ya out any?❞
❝Oh?" Cerulean optics brightened to aquamarine hues as they scanned across the sheet's title, and rosy layers perked upwards into a smile as he presented the essential map. ❝That's the one. Thank you so much, mister--!❞ Beam widening by the second in everlasting gratitude, the young trainer clasped the paper's borders and displayed the miniature city checkpoints from afar. Thank Arceus, she didn't need to lounge around town and ask for directions for the majority of a trip. ❝--I'll return it to ya later once I find the map booths, I promise.❞
Refolding the paper back to its squared condition, Touko reverted her vision back upon the ravenette, and her eyebrows instantly scrunched up in an apologetic expression. ❝Really sorry I wasted your time here, I need'a get into a better habit of being neat'o. Say, say, are ya sure you don't a reward or somethin'? I'll make it up to you!❞
This is the way it has to be (break my heart, don't spare me at all yes /shot)
‖❦‖▬ : And so the last pillar crumbles - a quartet reduced to a duet, and from a duo to a soloist.
It left a lingering aftertaste on her tongue, an acridity whose dull sharpness reflected that of the transpired events. Scenery fading into oblivion, Touko’s perception narrowed down upon the boy’s proportioned figure as she desperately sought for him to form an excuse, or a delusion to distill her paranoia. He cared for her, right? He loved her, just as much as she had loved him back! Quivering irises caught his lips’ hesitant movements - and the idealist’s shoulders heaved up to brace herself for a needed explanation. But their old familiarity was nonexistent; something she still doesn’t fully grasp into understanding. Instead, silence answers her beseeching pleas for comfort. They’re standing at arms-length, yet the distance connecting the pair seems to widen further. For a moment, he becomes the embodiment of her childhood imagery, a virtue she had hung on for far too long. Why did he do it? Where did they go wrong? She remains in the same position, feet latched to the floor and posture rigid in tension. There’s a weak sniff, and the brunette continues to return the dead colloquy with hushed tones. A foot was raised, disturbing the statuary atmosphere about the room as it takes a delayed motion forward. Another step followed, and arms then extended out as if to embrace her companion’s sturdy frame in pardoned acceptance.
❝—Traitor!❞
‖❦‖▬ : Digits seized unto his shirt whilst palms drove him back in an uncontrollable attempt to squeeze a reaction out of him. Hands slightly retracted back in regret after the assault registers in her mind, and she knows she’s hurting him. She promised she wouldn’t. The awareness lasted for a brief interval, and she shoves a second time with lesser sympathy. She wanted him to react, damn it! Fingers curled into fists, she’s incapable of inflicting any other damage other than feverish pushes. ❝—You’re disgusting,❞ she chokes out loud, ❝—I trusted you!❞ Unable to string a coherent sentence, Touko deals a careless blow to his chest, cornering the older boy closer against the wall with each contraction. ❝I trusted you, I trusted you…❞
Energy exerted into the actions dwindled into feeble prods, and the fire kindling her passionate vigor flickered out along with her hope. Upper limbs soon dangled back to her sides, lifting up to cradle the raw prickles inhabiting her vision. Brows creased inwards as the trainer struggles to suppress the urge to cry, and she roughly brushes the corners clean of tears. Avoiding eye contact altogether, her vocals are plucked of their allegro tempo. ❝…You’re different…you’re not Touya; I don’t even feel like I know you anymore.❞
❝Day in, day out…you’re always gone. I’ve been wondering if I mean anything to you in your life. But you’re just like them - you’re just like Cheren and Bianca, and everyone who moved on with their lives without me. T-That’s just how the world goes, doesn’t it? I’ve become old news to you. An old toy.❞
‖❦‖▬ : Muteness hung over the conversation, and Touko settles the conclusion by shifting aside and turning tail towards the door.
❝…Find yourself a new best friend,❞ she mutters, slinging her satchel over a shoulder and unfastening the entrance locks. ❝Please don’t talk to me again.❞ Body animations halting amid the process, the brunette awaits for a reply to arrive - a miracle to condemn her decisions. As none came, she resumes her departure with dismal steps, without looking back.
❝Bye, Blair.❞

「♛」― ;Someway, somehow, he’s managed to move.
It’s a burst of life that leaves as quickly as it comes, fortunately allowing him to begin an important message.
To: Touko From: Red Subject: i hate magic Message: now i cant sleep i miss you
★★★A smile arises on his face―mixed with a hint of triumph as he’s relieved to know he has enough strength to emulate his feelings through the keypad of his cellphone.
"I miss her," he repeats to no one after pressing send, words broken by a large yawn.
‖❦‖▬ : Eyelids drew in response to the sounds of digital chimes, its virtually generated measures escorting her from dream-land and into reality. Attention hooked upon her cellphone's blinking lights, the brunette's grogginess quickly shifted to excitement. A message--? But why, at this hour? Digits clasped the device, flipping the separated metal surface to display the unforeseen text.
Not long after did roseate crescent curved into a subtle half moon, and her cheeks blossomed in pink petals as her shoulders heaved in a silent laugh.
To: Teddy Bear [Red] From: touko.notkoko Subject: RE: i hate magic Message: silly, i missed you x100 why can't u sleep? did gray-faces get you again? ill stay up with you if you want <3
Satisfied with the written content, the young trainer returned the reply with yet another warm smile.
