I was all excited to do something nice for someone because I thought it would make them happy. Then when I did the nice thing, they acted like they didn't even care. And now I feel stupid.

It’s so, so frustrating when you post about something and you clearly explain your point, and then someone else comments on it and clearly missed what you were getting at. 🙄

Especially when that someone is your boyfriend’s mother. Oy vey. 😑

Notice how I use the word “people” as a generalization. I wasn’t referring to the people who took part in the women’s marches specifically.

Once again, my main point was, where was this passion and energy a few months ago, before the election? Whether you are someone who was supporting Hillary, or if you simply don’t like trump, you probably thought he didn’t stand a chance. I don’t think anybody felt that campaigning for Hillary was all that necessary. Trump was making such an ass of himself, that was practically a campaign for Hillary in itself. And yet, despite the majority vote, he still won. And now we have a giant mess to clean up.

All I’m trying to say is that we need to work harder at preventing someone like this from gaining power. We can never assume that things will work out the way we think they will if we don’t work for it.

What they don’t tell you: Self care sometimes isn’t fun. It’s going to class even when you want to stay in bed and rest. It’s paying bills on time and running errands even when every strand of your being cant stand it. It’s going to therapy and taking your medicine even when you don’t want to. It’s using coping skills even when going back to self destructive ones seems more appealing.

Recovering sucks. It’s hard. But you have to believe in the light at the end of the tunnel. And even on those days you don’t, you fake it till you make it.

Recovery is still worth it.
