a quick heads up, i’ll be moving florence to a multi-muse blog today at some point, and will be DROPPING ALL THREADS, as none of them have gone very far. I’ve grown...self conscious, i guess?? About florence, and would rather she be on a multi-muse blog then have her own, as lately it’s been stressing me out. I’ll reblog the promo here so that way anyone interested still in her can follow there!! this blog will stay around for a little while so everyone gets a chance to see where florence is going.

Since exiting the Fade, there was one constant feeling that Florence was unable to rid herself of; hunger. How long had it been since she ate, drank, slept? Sleep would come with difficulty, fear keeping her awake, but the hunger was what was truly bothering her.
She entered the bar with a cautious air, arms wrapped around her mid-section to stave off the pangs that continued to rip through her stomach. She was starving, and took a quick seat at the bar, eyes darting around like a frightened animal. When a man approached, she tensed, unsure on what to say or how to go about ordering something to eat. There was an awkward amount of silence, before she finally spoke up, voice quiet.
“Food. Please.” At least she remembered her manners, to some degree.

beefcakequnari:
A rather slow blink as ears twitch and he’s not certain if she’s mocking him, or if she’s that sheltered. Was bovinae the fancy term for ox-man, would it be the next trend at an Orlesian party? The thought alone makes him clench his teeth and then exhale slowly to get it all out.
“The term you’re looking for is Qunari.”
The word does little to sate her curiosity, the woman only appearing more confused at the name. It doesn’t sound like any word she’s heard before, not of Antivan, Orlesian or Ander dialect. “Strange.” She doesn’t specify if him or the word or anything else is strange, instead choosing to circle him slowly, although getting no closer in proximity.
“Is that your name, or race?”
samahll:
“yep, pretty certain. i’m also pretty certain that it was your people who made my people’s empire fall in the first place and put into slavery. during your time apparently, my people were already sullied by just about anything your people threw at them. when their empire fell, their power went with it so to speak. there was magic among my people back then still as it is now – since we elves have retained some magic like my cousin is a mage. it is not completely gone… just dying. just because i don’t have magic doesn’t mean the rest of my people are without it as well. but if the fall of Arlathan was before your time, then so was the weakening of magic for elves. not sure who you are, or what, but you should probably read a book or two.” a brief pause. “wait. i doubt you would find anything on that. humans don’t really like to write about us. well, anyway — ”
She stared, blinking slowly before letting out a long, slow exhale. “You haven’t been informed, I see.” It was a miracle she didn’t snap right then and there, given how far she was teetering on the edge of sanity, but Florence made a point to treat herself somehow later. “My name is Florence. I have been trapped in the Fade since what I understand the people of this time call Ancient? I fell from a rift, and was brought here, but it seems your Advisor’s have yet to tell you of the situation. So, no ser, I haven’t read any books. Haven’t had the chance, you see.” No books in the Fade, she thought bitterly, trying her hardest not to be rude. It was hard. Socialising in general was hard, given that she hadn’t socialised in centuries.
“I apologise if I offended you, and I am sorry for the loss that your people have suffered. I’ve always had respect for the Elvhen culture. It is sad to see it has been lost due to the interference of...shemlen’s, I believe you said.”
samahll:
“ah… ha,” Zahir forced a laugh, but it sounded forced thus he stopped. swallowing, he shrugged off the feeling that he received from that statement alone. she did not know. she would not know. she said it herself, he does not hold magic. he is as he has ever been: a rogue. he hopes that his discomfort was because of the question. “ — well, there’s this thing called the Shemlen. you might have heard of them because you’re… well… ” he gestured to her before continued. “and their influence upon my people basically… poisoned them in a way which ended up with elves having children that were without magic.” a brief pause, finally finding the question odd with a furrow of his brows. “someone’s a little late to the party.”
Her face became riddled with a mix of confusion and sympathy, brows creased and head tilting slightly. “Are you certain?” She questioned, as if he somehow might have been mistaken. “During...my time, I suppose, the fall of Elvhenan had already happened, but most Elves were still being more with magic then...” Shemlen. The word was familiar, but distant, one she had not heard too often. “Quick children.” A memory, a girl explaining to her, red hair, bright smile. Florence shook her head, expression growing further confused. “I was not aware there was a party to attend. If I am keeping you, then please proceed with your festivities.”

“I do not know which place is stranger to me now. The Fade, or...” She paused, Florence staring out at the mountains that surrounded Skyhold. Her expression was contemplating, distant; like someone who just didn’t seem to belong. Chewing on bottom lip (it has grown raw from her constant gnawing), dark eyes flick to stare at the woman beside her. “So much has changed.”

“I...what are you?” She had never seen such a creature before. He was massive, and while humanoid in basic shape, not human or Elvhen at all. Those horns certainly didn’t help, Florence taking a wide step back. Part of it was to keep distance, that fear still seeded deeply within her, but also to see him better. So tall. “You are not a demon...and yet you are not human, Elvhen, nor Dwarf.” She paused, brows creasing. “Some sort of Bovinae, perhaps...?” That last quip was muttered mostly to herself, eyes flicking all over Bull’s form.

“You...are a Grey Warden?” She seemed sceptical, to say the least, eyeing the woman with an obvious sense of scrutiny. “—How many Blights have there been, exactly? I never thought that Grey Wardens would continue to serve a purpose after the...” First one, she thinks, expression growing more confused. A hand is brought up, teeth chewing on thumb nail as Florence became lost in thought. “We never thought there would be more than one.”
TIMELINE
So after doing some reading, I’ve decided that Florence comes from sometime during the Ancient timeline. Florence was an adult during the time of Andraste’s invasion of Tevinter in -180 Ancient, but mysteriously vanished before Andraste’s burning at the stake in -170 Ancient. She knows of Grey Wardens, of the First Blight, and of the first Exalted March against the Imperium. She was raised in Antiva, but travelled to the Anderfels where she later disappeared. Circles did not exist at the time, and magic was much more common. She has no idea what has happened in the world since she arrived in the Fade, so anything that happened after -175 Ancient is a mystery to her.

“I do not understand.” She spoke plainly, addressing the Inquisitor with furrowed brows. Jittery still, Florence refused to get too close to anyone, leader of Inquisition included. “You are Elvhen, yet you do not know magic. Has it been lost to your people?” She could remember some things from her time. She remembered how magic was common, and even more common among Elves. She remembered how there were no Circles, and things were simpler then. She wasn’t sure how she felt yet about all the changes.
