  ‘Commission?’ They weren’t sure what that word meant, but humans had a lot of weird words that Celebi didn’t understand, so they didn’t think much of it. The next part, though, they were pretty sure they understood. He wanted them to pretend! Celebi was good at playing pretend! And so, they straightened themselves out to look tall and important.

  And then start giggling a few seconds later, their hands pressing against their mouth.

Motonari burst out laughing right alongside the Celebi, probably a bit harder than one normally would at such a joke. “So that’s how I look, huh? No wonder why you were hiding.” 

He held his arms straight at his sides, pushing his shoulders back and his head turned skyward. “I don’t know, you’re a little on the smaller side, maybe this plan won’t pan out so well. I don’t really think I could pretend to be you if I tried either.”

  Oh! The big human misunderstood why Celebi had hid-- though, to be fair, he wasn't to far off; Celebi was pretty small after all, and the big human was, well, big. They gesture to themselves before pointing to the forest, and then point at Motonari and then the village. They doubted he'd understand what they were trying to say-- if only humans could speak Pokemon-- that humans sometimes liked taking him away from the forest, but he needed to stay there, but he'd figure he'd try.

  At Motonari trying to pretend to be Celebi, the small Pokemon giggled again, shaking their head. No, they doubted he'd be able to pass as Celebi.

  Celebi’s eyes grow wide as they take the hat, happily placing it on their head. With the way it was shaped, it actually worked well to keep it too much out of their eyes. It still covered them just a bit though, strap too long to even wear properly.

  Wait. What did the human say? Keep it? Celebi could keep the strange hat? Well, now they wanted to give something in return, and it zipped into one of the nearby trees, where it could be heard rustling around. After a few moments, it came out with a flower crown of dogwoods, gently placing it on Motonari’s head.

So much for the ‘gentle leaf dad’ title that everyone would tease him with. How many time in this short period had the creature darted away? And with his hat, no less. At least after he offered most wild Pokemon something, they stayed long enough to be pet or coo’d at.

Or perhaps this was a lesson in assuming. 

Motonari lit up at the sight of the flower crown, allowing it to be placed on his head before adjusting it to a better fit himself. Okay, so maybe everyone was right. 

“You’re quite the crowns crafter! I may have to commission a proper headpiece for the throne.” He joked, his thumb and forefinger rubbing one of the petals. “Though I’m not sure if half of Greenleaf will be able to recognize me without that hat. If someone asks, you can be me for awhile, okay?”

  Oh? Who was she? She looked familiar, but they weren't sure why. Something about that weird hat. And her hair maybe? Oh! Their eyes light up as they realize. She had played with them when she was younger. Her, and that boy who also had a weird hat. They remembered her! And her friends. Those three boys. The loud one, the book one, and the flower one. They wonder if it's okay to say hi.

  They're a bit nervous to approach her right out though, but he spotted her oddly colored Eevee, and figured that to be a good place to start. He flew up to the small Pokemon, smiling happily.

  'Hello!'

  Celebi was still blinking at the hat before it processed that the other was talking to them. They stared at him before suddenly bolting into the nearest tree, peeking out of the leaves a few moments later before quickly pulling back in.

  They stared there for a little bit, when it processed that the human wasn’t making any move to try and capture them. They poke their head out once more, curious, and cautious. Silence stretched on, and Celebi pointed at the hat.

  “Bi?”

A skittish creature, wasn’t it? Not that he could blame it. Most of the grass types in Greenleaf preferred to hide in the bushes or treeline than to face something directly, especially humans. Motonari waited patiently to see if it would reemerge, but didn’t have very high hopes. If not, well, at least he had a story for Tsubone when he came home. 

But there it was!

“Do you like it that much?” He chuckled, undoing the strap to slide off his head, “You can have it, if you want. I have plenty, though I’m not sure how well it will stay on you.”
