CHAPTER TWO- SABOR A MI
The walk to the club felt like eternity. Although on the GPS it said it was only twenty minutes, Danya insisted she knew a shortcut. The shortcut led to a 35 minute walk and her singing Sabor A Mi. She insisted the song was setting the mood for the night. You thought quite the opposite. Once you had arrived at the building you saw little to no people waiting outside. The building looked old and as if it was barely holding on. It was a different story when you walked in. There was a soft orange light, some would say it was red but you were darn near positive this was orange. It was quite beautiful, you understood why Rosetta would recommend this place. When you entered, packed was an understatement. There were couples dancing everywhere, the smell of cigarettes consumed Cielo. And the music was so loud you couldn’t even hear your thoughts.
After a few minutes of you trying to find a seat at this bar, you two were lucky to find a booth near the bar. Danya had insisted on bringing drinks, so you patiently waited until she arrived. During that time, you observed everyone and everything. You saw a beautiful girl whispering something to the man she was dancing with, you saw two men slowly disappear from the dance floor and head towards the bathroom. But what caught your eye the most was the wall of pictures you were sitting right by. Each and every polaroid photo, everyone was smiling. And it was not one of those fake smiles. Whoever took these saw a story in all of these people. It was impressive. They all told a different story but the same emotion. Whoever took these saw the raw emotion in everyone and captured it.
“This is great Y/n, I have never in a million years would have thought I would ever be here, although my mother has been here countless times, she's always been so against me coming here” Danya was beaming with joy, prior to arriving you let her borrow one of your dresses, a long black backless dress that was loose but still showed a little figure.and she could not have been happier. You could not deny Danya was beautiful. When you first met her she seemed so timid and afraid. But quite the contrary, she was a confident and bold female. You learned that Danya was just twenty three, three years younger than you and loved art. She was just afraid to embark on her own journey and leave her parents behind. She explained that her parents meant the world to her and she was the future of their hotel. After a while she started babbling more about how stressful her life was, and then about the fruit market prior to you arriving and how she could only get a limited amount. You already knew you were going to have a long night because she was being this open after the first few sips.
She returned with the second round of drinks and you both just stared at each other. Although she was such an energetic being, and oddly enough you love her presence, the silence felt almost like an understanding of each other. You then smiled questionably, she then broke the silence.
“ Y/n, did you ever expect yourself to be here genuinely” that question caught you off guard and had you really wondered if you did. You took a quick sip of your drink hoping that would divert her attention, the drink burned your throat .It had been a while since you had a drink, back then you were always telling your friends that you were going to keep an eye on Daesung. He took away the joy in having fun and after a while you just decided to stop going out and eventually asked your friends to stop inviting you and him to events.
“I don’t really know Danya, I think I am just barely being okay with everything that’s going on”. It was true. You really have not fully processed everything. You did not even tell your parents yet. They would have been ecstatic but you did not want to hear it just yet. It all felt numb. You did not miss him in any way. But you did not know what to do with the feeling of peace. Was this peace? Nonetheless you were more surprised you were here. In a town you did not know anything about. A town that you only heard about and impulsively booked it in hopes it would save your relationship. But now there was no relationship to be saved. It was just you.
After the conversation, Danya stood up and went to dance. She took the dance floor gracefully and danced with many people. It was funny, she eventually ended up at the center screaming to play the song you dreaded earlier. After a few more drinks, Danya definitely was losing that gracefulness. You couldn’t help but admire her. You remember feeling that free. You missed that feeling. You finally stood up, and decided to help her out.
“ Y/n this was the best night of my life” she slurred, laying her head on your shoulder. Drunk was an understatement. She started singing Sabor A Mi , again.
“ Okay lovebug maybe, we should start heading out.” You exclaimed, although the music was booming she miraculously heard you. She gripped on to your pinkie finger and started telling you about how she never had a best friend. You could not deny you were slightly concerned. And partially afraid of Rosetta catching both of you. Although you only knew Rosetta for seven hours you were probably more terrified of her than running into your ex-boyfriend.
You two were already heading towards the exit when you suddenly stopped in your tracks. You forgot your bag.Fuck.
“Danya, I forgot my purse, let's go get it quickly.” You turned around to stare at her. Wait. Where the hell did she go?! You went through the whole club trying to find her. And it didn’t help that you did not have her phone number. Now you were freaking out. It was one thing to lose her but it was another thing to lose her in a city you did not know anything about. You were shoving people around trying to find Danya, how could someone who was so short and so loud not be found.
After what felt like eternity of looking for her, you finally found her. But she was not alone. You found Danya speaking to a man.You swore to God himself that if she left you to flirt with a man she will be dealing with both her mother and your wrath. As you got closer to her, you felt a feeling you have not felt in years.Almost like a fullness. This man had a familiar presence and even though you could only see his back in the dim orange lightning something told you, you already knew him. Danya sees you and immediately calls your name.
“Y/N there you areeee , I thought I lost youuu, guess who I found it's such a coincidence, the man who was also booked in your room is here! Meet Jungkook”.
It was almost as if time froze. Or as if you froze. He turned around and you both stood there. No words spoken. He looked the same yet so different. The last time you saw him, he had no tattoos and piercings.
Just a boy with a glint of hope in his eyes begging for you to stay and promising he would never say anything about Daesung again.
The boy who stayed nights outside just wanting to hear your voice again.
The boy who spent every holiday with you when you could not visit your parents.
.the boy who taught you how to order your favorite coffee .
The boy who always knew how to make you laugh.
The boy who eventually left Korea and told no one about his whereabouts.
Now what was standing in front of you was different. So unfamiliar. His arm was covered in tattoos and he stood with such boldness. The boy you once knew wore bright colors, but the one in front you was in an all black outfit. This time instead of hope in eyes, there was something new, you could not exactly tell yet.
Danya always knew the right time to break silence.
