Just finished rdr2 and thinking many Steddie thoughts. Van der linde gang except it’s Al Munson as Dutch, Eddie as Arthur Morgan and Steve as Mary? Gonna need someone to write this for me or I’ll explode

Eddie Munson was playing a gig in a bar that wasn't the hideout. The guys had been so excited to get out of Hawkins and into the city. Eddie was especially excited to have his new friends in the crowd aswell. Specifically Steve Harrington but no one had to know that. It was going good, every song without a hitch. Steve recorded just about everyone song in full to show the underage rugrats that were devastated they couldn't attend. But his phone lowered when the lights on the other band members dimmed and Eddie looked alone onstage with an acoustic guitar.
"The guys are gonna stand down on this one. But this song is about a girl. We don't talk anymore and haven't talked since she bailed me out of jail." Eddie spoke and the crowd cheered at the mention of Eddie going to jail. Eddie laughed into the mic and Steve smiled softly. He could feel Nancy and Robin watching his every move the entire gig. "Yeah let's hear it for going to jail!" Eddie yelled and strummed the acoustic guitar. More cheers erupted from the crowd. "It's a lot softer than the other songs and it's an original, by me. So this is call writer." Eddie strummed his guitar and he looked so soft on the stage.
"I am your writer who bleeds indecision."
One line in and Steve was swooning. His voice was so smooth and Steve wanted to force Eddie into a whole new genre permanently.
"Your lover, your waiter your saddest addition."
"Oh my God I'm in love with him." Steve said out loud. Nancy and Robin perked up. "It took an acoustic guitar and a sad song about his ex for you to notice?" Robin asked. Nancy giggled. There was no malice or teasing in it. They both felt pure joy for their two friends.
"Your fighter, your taker, your old patience breaker."
Eddie smiled through the lyrics but his eyebrows were ever so slightly furrowed.
"Your mover, your shaker."
Gareth suddenly appeared beside them. "I didn't even see you leave the stage." Robin said. "Snuck off. This song is like pure poetry and Eddie thought it was shit but I just had to see him play it from this side of the stage." Gareth said, voice full of love.
"The one who can make you feel like a giant in the morning, and so little by noon."
None of them replied. They didn't want to talk through Eddie's song.
"For sure drowning in the sun and you froze on the moon."
Gareth was right about the song being poetry. He knew Eddie was an amazing writer but most of the lyrics in his other songs weren't as beautiful at these.
"Oh baby I promise you, that I'll never change hell, I tell you I will, but I still stay the same."
Eddie was in his element. Not bouncing around singing and screaming. But just standing there with the guitar singing words that Steve never would have through to put together.
"And I pray to the angels that you'll see the signs,
And they'll glow like a warning and shine through the wine."
"I'm gonna cry." Robin whispered rubbing her eyes. Steve chuckled softly and Nancy put her arm around her girlfriend’s waist.
"And they'll scream through the ecstasy, and howl through the snow.
And I'll hand you my ganja, and off I will go."
Nancy giggled at the way Eddie sang ganja. The song was so personal but told the truth in the most complicated way that somehow still made it reserved.
"And then I'll be a memory of your dodgy decisions.
Your ex, your old sex, your old weathered traditions."
Steve's face scrunched up. Eddie was more than a 'dodgy decisions'. He was the best decision Steve would ever make if he managed to gather the courage to tell him he loved him.
"And you'll no longer kiss me, or hate me or miss me. Or have to defend me, or teach me, or rest me."
Robin did cry. He held her hand over her mouth to stifle any crying noises and let her tears roll down her cheeks. Steve and Nancy hugged her and tried to not laugh at her.
"The one who reminds your of stark imperfection."
Steve wanted to scream. Imperfection? Eddie's the most perfect creature he's ever had the pleasure to lay eyes upon. Imperfect? He would be having words with Eddie later.
"And how when you want you can change direction.
Oh baby when I call you, saying I've changed. Don't believe a word cause I'll still stay the same."
Gareth swayed at the song and looked like he was reliving the period of their life Eddie wrote this song about. Steve hadn't been there but he knew how tough it was on all of them.
"And I'll pray to the angels and beg them to hear me,
That despite how I'd like it you won't come near me."
"You'd never think Eddie could write something so beautiful." Nancy whispered. Steve disagreed. Someone so beautiful producing something so beautiful. Wasn't shocking at all.
"And I'll dream of the ecstasy that I used to feel, from the startling surprise to the sweet slow reveal."
"How did he ever struggle in school with a talent like this?" Robin wondered.
"And how I understand you, now that I've lost you.
And I wanna thank you, for all that it cost you."
Steve couldn't take his eyes off Eddie as the song picked up and his strumming quickened. His brown eyes scanning the crowd and his hair falling over his face. His looked so pretty
"For being, the most beautiful part of my life. And for holding me close, and wiping my cheek."
Steve felt his own eyes brimming with tears as Eddie sang higher but just as controlled.
"And slapping me up when I get too weak,
And for touching my skin, and biting my lip."
The crowd swayed softly and everyone looked hypnotised by Eddie and his soothing voice.
"And spitting me out, and breathing me in."
A single tear did manage to escape Steve's watery eyes. He was quick to wipe it away and try focus on Eddie.
"And telling me everything's gonna be alright.
So now I guess it is baby, so good luck."
Eddie made eye contact with Steve. His furrowed brows relaxing, he looked relieved and grounded. Like he believed his own words that everyone was gonna be alright.
"Thank you, and good night."
He almost whispered the final words of his song and Gareth was suddenly running back to his spot on the stage. Eddie smiled as he strummed the last note of the song. Lifting his head from the guitar and facing the crowd, awaiting a reaction. And a reaction it was. The crowd roared with cheers and applause. The loudest they'd been all night and it was tough on the ears after such a gentle song. "Thank you." Eddie beamed and the lights came on the other band members who were clapping and cheering just as loud. "That was hard but I hope you all take it as a reminder to be vulnerable, because it's okay to be. It's right to be. There's people who love you and will listen to your troubles. So thank you for listening to mine." He put the acoustic guitar back.
"So back to our usual music then. This next song is one we wrote in half an hour. So if it's messy, blame time and space." The music exploded out of them and filled the room. They watched the rest of the set in awe and cheered as loud as the could for their friend. Steve particularly screamed like his life depended on it. "Thank you for having us tonight, we have been Corroded Coffin! On drums we had Gareth!" Eddie pointed to Gareth who played the answered Eddie's introduction with a drum beat. "On bass we had Doug!" He pointed to the awkward bassist who answered with an extremely catchy baseline. "On guitar we had Jeff." Jeff was hitting out with an insane riff before Eddie even pointed and they both laughed. "And then there's me, I'm Eddie." Eddie pointed at himself and the audience whooped and cheered. "So for the second time tonight, thank you and goodnight!" Eddie yelled and they all ran off the stage.
Eddie was ambushed by hugs from his friends. Gareth, Jeff and Doug all circling him and jumping. Only to be followed by Steve, Robin and Nancy crashing into him and almost suffocating him. "You were amazing!" Nancy pulled back. "Robin cried at your song!" Robin made an offended noise. "Don't tell him!" Robin turned red. "It was a beautiful song though Eddie, like wow." Robin pulled back from the hug too. Leaving Steve and Eddie hugging. Eddie looked up and Steve and pulled back awkwardly. "Thank you." Eddie said to Robin. "Don't you ever write lyrics about yourself like that again! You're not a 'bad decision' or 'imperfect' or-" Steve was suddenly cut off by a pair of plush lips against his. The warm lighting of the bar, the crowd and the music all felt frozen in time. Eddie was kissing him and the world froze, like Steve's brain was trying to capture the moment forever.
When Eddie backed away from the kiss to stare at Steve there was barely a moment before Steve leaned back in. Their friends cheering and whistling. "And I'll be happy to remind you how perfect you are." Steve finished his rant and Eddie laughed. "So I'll hold you to that?" Eddie grinned. "Let's go get a drink before I pick you up and runaway with you forever." Steve took Eddie's hand and led him to the bar. Not only had the set been perfect but the night ended with Eddie sleeping soundly in Steve's bed. So the best the gig could have gone in both of their eyes. Though Steve would be forcing Eddie to write a song like that about him because his poetic words should not be wasted on Paige Warner.
Summary: Steve is constantly fighting for the attention of Eddie. Eddie is skeptical and thinks Steve has an ulterior motive.

Steve Harrington was Eddie Munson's worst nightmare. He was constantly all over him trying to get his attention, whilst his friends teased the life out of him. He was so persistent, asking Eddie to hang out, leaving notes in his lockers. Which Eddie often crumpled up and shoved in his pocket to discard later. But this didn't deter Steve. In fact it only spurred him on more. Eddie was sure Steve thought they were playing the words longest game of hard to get. But Eddie was genuinely rejecting Steve.
"Holy shit." Jeff laughed. Eddie turned to his locker to see what so funny, only to be met with a bouquet of flowers. "Jesus H Christ." Eddie took the flowers out and read the tag. 'Hope you like them, Love S' he knew who S was. "This is getting ridiculous." Eddie held the flowers, looking around for Steve hiding somewhere. "How'd he even get in your locker?" Jeff asked, still buckled with laughter. "He has been for a while. Never done this before though." Eddie sighed. "Just go out with him. No one will ever be this desperate for your attention again." Jeff pointed out. "Jee thanks." Eddie threw the flowers back in and slammed his locker shut.
"Not to be rude of course. But a hot rich guy wants you that bad, why are you not jumping at the opportunity!" Jeff exclaimed. "Exactly, he has to have a motive. He's been put up to it or something." Eddie frowned. "He's not even in the popular crowd anymore, he hangs out with his ex, her new boyfriend and a band freak. Unless Jonathan Byers has something against you, there's no way anyone put him up to it." Jeff explained. "Or he's doing this to try get back in with the popular crowd." Eddie suggested. "I don't think so Eddie." Jeff laughed.
They went their separate ways to their classes and he heard the dreaded voice of Steve Harrington. "Eddie! Hi!" Steve bounded up to him. "Hi." Eddie greeted coldly. "Did you get my flowers?" He asked hopefully. "Seen them." Eddie answered bluntly. "Cool. I also have this, it's a ticket for the game tonight. My friends will be there if you want to go with them." Steve held out the ticket to the basketball game. Eddie took the ticket. "I might be busy tonight." Eddie told Steve. Though Eddie pocketing the ticket was enough to get his hopes up. "No problem. I'll be looking for you from the court." Steve smiled. "See ya." Eddie quickly sped away from Steve.
The basketball ticket sat heavily in Eddie's pocket. It was getting harder and harder to reject Steve. He still looked hopeful when he asked and still spent money on ridiculous gifts to leave in his locker. Jeff's words were also rattling around his brain. He was sure no one would ever fight for his attention this much again. But that made it suspicious. No normal person would do that without an alterer motive. He sighed and continued to ignore whatever his physics teacher was droning on about.
The day kept getting weirder. As soon as he left physics he was ambushed by Nancy Wheeler and Robin Buckley. "Hi?" He asked concerned. "Are you coming to the game with us tonight?" Nancy asked. "Probably not." Eddie answered with a shrug. "Why?" Robin asked quickly. "When have I ever gone to a game? Also when have I ever not rejected Steve." Eddie began walking. They followed. "I don't understand why." Robin said following him. "It's Steve Harrington. There that's a reason why." Eddie sped up, trying to get away from them. "He's not up to something if that's what you think. He's genuinely got this massive crush on you. It's getting sad." Robin tried to reassure Eddie.
Eddie wouldn't usually trust that but coming from another queer kid in the school it meant something. "He could have any girl in school. Why does he want me?" Eddie asked. "He doesn't want any girl, he wants you. Just give him a chance?" Nancy looked at him hopefully, the same way Steve had. "Fine." Eddie broke. "Great! We'll meet you outside later? Game starts at 8." Nancy called after him. He gave a half hearted thumbs up. "What have I got myself into?" He mumbled to himself and practically had to run to his next class to be on time.
The rest of the day he noticed the group staring at him. Steve especially but that wasn't unusual. "Do you think they're a cult and trying to sacrifice me?" Eddie asked at the lunch table. "Eddie people can have crushes on you! It's not the most impossible thing in the world." Gareth grumbled, clearly already fed up with his weird thing with Steve. But no one had a crush on him before. At least no one that was brave enough to tell him? "Eddie you're being ridiculous." Doug spoke. "I'm not! These are valid concerns." Eddie argued. "Asking if they're going to sacrifice you isn't a valid concern." Jeff spoke.
"I have something else to show you." Eddie pulled the game ticket out his pocket. "He's wants you at his basketball game, five bucks says he gives Eddie his letterman." Jeff teased. "I'll take it." Gareth shook hands with Jeff. "Stop betting on it!” Eddie was outraged. "Are you not worried? He could be pulling a Carrie!” His friends just laughed at him. "Eddie he’s not going to dump pigs blood on you at a basketball game. You’re acting like a loony.” Gareth genuinely looked concerned for Eddie. “Fine, ten bucks says I go to this game and there was an ulterior motive and I won’t leave with his letterman!” Eddie bet despite telling his friends off for doing the same. "Just to be clear we get ten each?” Jeff asked with a smirk. “Fine but only because I know I’m right.” Eddie shook each of their hands.
He knew he was right. There was no way someone like Steve Harrington would ever want to date him. Someone had put him up to it, Jason, Billy, Tommy H, one of the school assholes. What he didn’t understand was why his friends didn’t share his concern. Maybe they secretly hated him and were in on the joke? Maybe the whole school was in on it! Eddie was aware that his friends were right, he caught himself thinking up the worst scenarios possible which were often pure insanity. But didn’t he have a right to be a bit on edge about the whole thing?
“I don’t think he’s coming.” Steve sighed. Nancy and Robin didn’t tell Steve they had practically cornered Eddie and bullied him into coming. “He’s just making you work for it. He’ll come and you can carry him off into the sunset after the game.” Robin said. “Or you just move on.” Jonathan suggested. “Maybe you try a different approach. We know notes in lockers don’t work on him, ask him out somewhere.” Nancy suggested. “I have. I asked him to the game.” “And?” Jonathan prompted. “He put the ticket in his pocket and said he might be busy.” Steve explained. “Pocketed the ticket is a good sign. He didn’t throw it away.” Robin encouraged.
Steve knew something was going on. His friends never encouraged his unhealthy obsession with Eddie. “You really think he might come?” Steve asked. “He has the ticket, there’s a chance.” Robin shrugged. Whatever Robin and Nancy knew it was clear Jonathan didn’t. “Maybe you should ask to join his club?” Nancy tilted her head. "Already tried that. He quizzed me on DND and I obviously failed. How was I meant to know what a D20 was used for?” Steve slumped. “A D20 is like the most used dice in the game. How did you plan to join his little club without knowing what a D20 was?” Nancy asked. “Why do you know what it is?” Robin asked. “Because I played DND with the little monsters. They made me dress up as an elf.” Nancy explained.
When Eddie went back to his trailer that night, his Uncle Wayne knew something was going on. Especially because Eddie had all his clothes out cupboards and drawers like he was on a mission. "Why you trashing your room?” Wayne asked, eyeing the giant pile of clothes on Eddie’s bed. “What does one wear to a basketball game?” Eddie asked, frowning at the mostly black pile. “You’re going to a game?” Wayne laughed. “Right what’s going on here. You don’t know one thing about basketball.” Wayne crossed his arms. “Okay don’t be weird, but a boy from school has been trying to get with me for what months now? And now he’s invited me to his basketball game and I said I’d be there and now I don’t know what to wear.” Eddie explained.
“You like this boy.” It wasn’t a question. “Wayne!” Eddie complained at the statement. “What? I’m not blind boy, I can see what’s right infront of me. If he likes you and you like him why haven’t I met him?” Wayne asked. “Because we’re not dating and I know he doesn’t actually like me. No one likes me like that. He’s gonna use this to get in with the popular crowd. Be praised for humiliating the freak, I just know it!” Wayne sighed. “Listen here. I’m proud of you for trying to protect yourself, but there’s a lid for every pot. You keep acting like that you’ll never find yours.” Wayne scolded. “Well maybe I’ve not got a lid. Maybe I’m not even a pot! Maybe I’m a wooden spoon. I don’t know Wayne!” Eddie crossed his arms like a child. The child Wayne was making him feel like.
Wayne sighed. “Wooden spoons don’t sit in them drawers all by themselves. You have ta let people in.” Wayne sat next to Eddie. “Let people in my drawers? Wayne that’s vulgar!” Eddie squawked. Wayne knew his dramatics were to distract from the honest conversation he was trying to have. “Hell I bet he’s worrying right now about he’s looking like. Whatever you show up there in will be enough for him.” Wayne promised. “Wayne I cannot take anymore bets today I might be down thirty by the end of this.” Eddie joked. “Maybe if you stopped being an idiot.” Wayne pushed himself off Eddie’s bed. “Go get moving.” Wayne closed the bedroom door and Eddie felt his words sinking in.
“Okay fuck.” He muttered and threw on whatever clothes were at the top of his mountain of fabric. “Bye Wayne enjoy work!” Eddie yelled as he rushed out the door. “Take a-" the door slammed before Wayne could even finish his sentence. “Jacket.” He grumbled towards the closed door. Eddie drove to the game in silence. Didn’t even turn his music on. The various reassurances of Wayne and his friends played on loop. The words of Robin Buckley and Nancy Wheeler tormenting him as he pulled into the school car park and saw the pair along with Jonathan waiting on him. “Okay. Okay. Okay.” He breathed out heavily. “I can do this. I can do this. I can do this.” He repeated to himself.
“You actually came.” Jonathan was floored. Eddie shrugged. “Maybe I just like basketball.” Nancy laughed at him. “We all know that’s not true.” Eddie made an offended noise but didn’t argue. When they entered the hall he saw Steve in all his glory. Tanned shoulders peaking out his green jersey, littered with moles and devastatingly muscular. “Try not to drool.” Robin teased. “Yeah right.” Eddie rolled his eyes but the second the game started it was game over. He never knew sweaty athletic men to be his type but he found himself hooked on Steve’s every move. Unable to tear his eyes away from the exposed biceps.
To make matters worse when Steve got the ball in the laundry basket he pointed at Eddie. “Such a romantic.” Robin’s voice taunted him. “Such a meat head.” Eddie muttered in response. Trying and failing to hide his pink cheeks behind his wild curls. Robin grinned knowingly but said nothing else. The game continued for what felt like an eternity, Hawkins winning. “We haven’t won in ages.” Nancy began taking notes. Clearly only thinking of the school paper. “Steve was just extra motivated tonight.” Robin sing sung in his ear. “You have to come to games all the time now. Be Hawkins highs lucky charm.” Jonathan teased too. “Or I’ll never come again. I love watching Hawkins fail.” Eddie smirked.
They all knew he would be there again. Watching Steve play basketball would become a hobby of his. “Let’s go, I know someone who wants to talk to you.” Nancy got up and the four of them clambered down the bleachers. Now Eddie really was nervous. He hadn’t talked to Steve apart from the constant rejection. He couldn’t have a civil conversation with him after spending forty minutes gawking at Steve. Though his chance to run was stolen as he was dragged by Robin back to the parking lot. As in she held his wrist, like she knew he was a flight risk in that moment. “He’ll be five minutes at most, he showers like there’s a bomb ticking in there with him.” Nancy explained.
Those five minutes were simultaneously the shortest and longest five minutes of his life. The cold wind was nipping at his bare arms and the nerves vibrating around inside him were not helping. “Hey guys!” The dreaded voice of Steve Harrington sent his thoughts reeling. This was it, he was going to reveal his true plan and humiliate Eddie. Out him to the entire school and ruin his life. “I’m glad you came.” His words were warm and full of genuine joy. Like Eddie coming to his game was the highlight of his life. “Yeah.” Eddie answered dumbly. “Good game Steve, we’ll leave you to it.” Nancy smiled and they all climbed into her car. Leaving Eddie and Steve in silence.
“Let’s go a walk.” Steve suggested and Eddie found himself following. “I’m really glad you came.” Steve’s voice was smooth and genuine. “Why did you want me to come?” Eddie asked. “You know I like you Eddie. Maybe it was an asshole move to keep pushing after you rejected me. But I can’t stop hoping that maybe one day you’ll change your mind.” Steve explained. Eddie hadn’t predicted this. He came prepared to experience life changing embarrassment and go home begging Wayne to be home schooled. “I thought it was a joke.” Eddie admitted. He hated how vulnerable it sounded. Steve’s smile went all droopy. Like he was heartbroken to hear those words.
“It’s never been a joke. I’m in love with you. Which sounds insane I know we’ve barely ever spoken but it’s true.” Steve’s words were so firm but so soft at the same time. “After I’ve rejected you time after time, you still love me?” Eddie furrowed his brows in confusion. “I always will if you’ll let me.” Steve noticed Eddie was shivering. “Here.” The green letterman was suddenly around Eddie’s shoulders. “God damn it.” Eddie mumbled. “What’s wrong?” Steve asked concerned. “I’m down thirty.”
hello!! i really like your steddie fics on ao3 :)) the one with corroded coffin witnessing steve with eddie was really sweet and i love the dyslexic eddie one (i feel like normally i see a lot of dyslexic!steve, so this was so fresh and new!). just a small note (feel free to take it or leave it!), i've noticed that a lot of your fics have dialogue grouped together in big paragraphs. that can be hard for readers to follow—typically, whenever there's a new speaker, there should be a new paragraph. that makes it easier for readers to follow the back and forth of the conversation and know who's talking when. your fics are so good and i want others to be able to appreciate them. again, feel free to ignore me! i just wanted to share bc i think if you make that change, it'll help make your fics even better <3
Hi! Thank you for reading my fics I’m glad you liked! I just love projecting onto Eddie, and as someone with dyslexia I can definitely see what you mean about being hard to follow. My fics are hugely dialogue heavy as well, I was just taught to write that way in school and I guess it stuck? I’ll keep this in mind for future fics thank you for letting me know <3

Eddie Munson thumped down in his seat. Already wishing the period was over, in fact the entire school day. He hated school. Especially in history where he was sat next to Steve Harrington. Though Steve didn’t mind sitting next to Eddie, he was surprisingly quiet despite how he acted outside of classes. The notes he took were endlessly fascinating to Steve. Often little doodles and sketches. But they weren’t just random, they were his actual notes in picture form. So half way through the class he wrote a note and passed it to Eddie.
‘Do you always take notes like that?’
Eddie read the note. Steve’s blue pen again the white paper made it hard to read. Eddie wrote on the same piece of paper.
‘Yes’
Steve took the note and read his one word answer. Confused on why Eddie took so long to only write one word.
‘How come? I like your pictures though’
The note was passed back and Steve watched Eddie closely. His eyes jumped around the paper as he tried to read. Like he couldn’t make out what was going on.
‘Becuse’
The word being spelt wrong confirmed Steve’s suspicion.
‘Does my blue pen make it harder to read?’
Eddie frowned at the note.
‘I guess’
Now the pictures instead of notes made sense. “Munson!” The sharp voice of their history teacher startled them both. "No doodling! You’re supposed to be taking notes!” He scolded. His sunken aged face was red with anger. Eddie sunk into his chair slightly and put his head in his hands. Just as the teacher was about to rip the page out Steve spoke up. "That is his notes Sir.” He spoke. "There is not a single word on this page.” The teacher flashed the drawings towards Steve and several students laughed at Eddie.
Steve glared at the people laughing. "That’s his notes. That’s Christopher Columbus, that’s his boat there, and that’s clearly him discovering America.” Steve pointed to the drawings. The teacher analysed the drawings and looked down at Steve. "This isn’t art class. Mister Munson is free to do as he pleases in his own time but I will not accept this childish doodling as note taking!” The page was brutally ripped from the book and the teacher slammed it on Eddie’s desk. Eddie flinched at the bang and stared at his blank book.
Fuming with anger didn’t even begin to describe how Steve was feeling. That was Eddie’s work, even if it wasn’t what everyone else’s notes looked like. He marched straight to Principal Higgins after class. "Harrington, have a seat.” He gestured. Steve sat down angrily and crossed his arms. “Mr Adam tore up Eddie Munson’s notes in class today.” Steve spoke. Principal Higgins didn’t look amused. "Munson probably had those vulgar drawings all over his page again.” The older man spoke with distain. "Those aren’t just drawings that’s how he takes his notes.” Steve glared at the Principal.
Principal Higgins shifted and stared at Steve. “Eddie Munson is nothing more than a bad egg. He corrupts others into joining his foolishness and drags them down with him. Do not let him drag you down Mister Harrington.” Principal Higgins spoke firmly. “No! He doesn’t! He sat quietly in that class and did not one thing wrong, took notes like everyone else. Even if his notes are different who cares? He’s paying attention and now he’s left with no notes because that imbecile tore them up!” Steve yelled outraged. "Don’t dare insult a member of my staff. This is exactly what I’m talking about. You have never been known to lash out like this. Until the sudden involvement with Mister Munson.”
How dare he blame Eddie for Steve’s anger? "Eddie isn’t responsible for me choosing to talk to you about this. I think it’s ridiculous that he’s been bullied by teachers in the school that are supposed to be helping him learn! Did you even know he’s struggling with reading and writing? The school should be helping provide a tutor to him, instead you and your staff gang up on him and treat him like a criminal because of some drawings?! Do you understand how insane that is?!” Steve was standing now. Shouting at the man sitting in front of him. “I’ve heard enough! I will not tolerate disrespect from you, if you’re so desperate to help Munson you can now consider yourself his tutor. Goodness knows no one else would.” Principal Higgins stood too.
If looks could kill, Higgins would be gone because Steve was glaring so harshly at him even Higgins looked intimidated. "Fine. I’m more than happy to tutor Eddie, because believe it or not, some of us aren’t miserable sacks of shit.” Steve stormed out, though he faintly heard the call of “Detention!” As he closed the door. Eddie was outside Higgins office. Waiting on Steve. "Why did you stick up for me?” He asked a bit frantically. "Because, they shouldn’t be treating you like that. You’re here to get your diploma like everyone else.” Steve explained. "But, why did you stick up for me?” Eddie asked. Not understanding how King Steve would even care about the way teachers treated Eddie.
Steve’s face softened. “Look if you want I can help you. We can study together and I’ll help you with reading and writing. Not that I’m any good at school myself but we could help each other.” Steve suggested. “You want to study with me?” Eddie asked. “After school, we can drop by my house and get some homework done. Maybe just hang out for a bit after too?” He tilted his head. Eddie couldn’t believe the words coming out of Steve’s mouth. He wanted to study with him and hang out with him? In his house? "Oh. Yeah sure I’m not doing anything.” Eddie answered still bewildered by the entire interaction. But Steve couldn’t be happier.
Since going his separate ways with Tommy and Carol he was awfully lonely. Sure he still hung out with Nancy and Jonathan but your only friends being your ex and her new boyfriend is epically lame. "Cool. I’ll catch you in the car park? So you can follow my car.” Steve asked. “Yeah sure, the car park.” Eddie replied. Steve waved at Eddie, who dumbly stuck one hand up like he had a question. "What the fuck.” He mumbled to himself and walked towards the lockers. Steve was on a mission in the library. Finding any books on what he knew as Dyslexia. Determined to help Eddie Munson.
"The weirdest thing happened in history today.” Eddie spoke, sitting on the grass with Ronnie Ecker. His best friend. "When you say something is weird it’s either the most normal thing that could happen or the most unbelievable shit you’ve ever spewed out.” Ronnie spoke with her mouth full. “Steve Harrington stuck up for me.” Eddie said. Ronnie perked up, eyebrows furrowed in disbelief. "Harrington? What?!” She yelled in shock. "Exactly! He even went to Higgins to complain about Mr Adam and got detention. I heard it through the door.”
"Okay skipping past you stalking Harrington. What the hell!? Like that’s the most insane thing I’ve ever heard.” She looked almost outraged.
“Exactly! And then he invited me to his house!” Eddie exclaimed. “What? When?!” She asked. "Today after school, I’m meeting him in the car park.” He looked shocked. "What about my ride home?!” She complained. "Oh shit.” Eddie realised. She reached into the pocket of his leather jacket and snatched the van keys. “Hey!” He complained. "I’ll drive your van back to the trailer park, you get a lift from King Steve to his mansion.” She shrugged. "I can’t just ask him to give me a lift!” Eddie shrieked at the thought. “Tough luck, I am not walking back to the trailer park. Besides you’re both going to the same place anyway!” Eddie glared at Ronnie but said nothing.
Steve walked with his bag full of books back to his car at the end of the day. Only to see Eddie Munson standing by his car nervously. “Hey man.” Steve greeted. “Hey, I’m really sorry but my van kinda got stolen so I’ll have to ride with you.” Eddie played with his hair nervously. "Your van got stolen? By who?” Steve looked at Eddie with wide eyes and a wild franticness in his voice. “Oh no! Not like actually stolen, as in my friend Ronnie took my keys at lunch and robbed me of my van. She’s gonna park it at mine. Hopefully.” Eddie explained. "Shit man I thought someone actually stole your van! That’s all good I’ll just give you a lift home later.” Steve unlocked the BMW and jumped in.
“No you don’t have to do that, the trailers quite out the way so I can just walk.” Eddie tried. "The trailer park is miles away from my house. You’re not walking that, especially not at night.” Steve started up the car. "Right. Thank you.” Eddie turned away from Steve. “No problem man.” Steve smiled. Eddie fidgeted nervously in the passenger seat. He didn’t know what to say. “You’re really different when I’ve got you alone. I’ve seen you in the cafeteria, you’re so loud and full of life.” Steve pointed out. "My friend’s bring out the worst in me.” Eddie shrugged and Steve laughed. It was a fair excuse. His little group of misfits were always egging him on.
Eddie had seen Steve’s house before, but never on the inside. It was so empty. The walls of the trailer were covered in pictures, mugs and other trinkets. There was the occasional childhood photos of Steve but not much else. Steve toed his shoes off at the door and Eddie decided to copy. Not wanting to trail his dirty Reeboks all over the white carpets. "Steve.” A woman approached him. "Hi Mom.” Steve smiled at her. "Who’s your friend?” She asked, eyeing Eddie. Though it wasn’t unkindly, she was just observing him. “This is Eddie, we’re going to get some studying done.” Steve introduced him. “Well nice to meet you Eddie. Let me know if you need anything.” She smiled at the pair. “Thanks Mom. Come on we’ll go up to my room.” Steve led Eddie up the stairs.
The house felt absolutely giant. Like something out a film. "This is my room. Make yourself at home, I’ll be back in two.” Steve rushed back down the stairs. Eddie took the opportunity to explore Steve’s room, while Steve ran to talk to him Mother. “Hey what’s wrong?” His Mom asked. “My friend Eddie, he really struggles with reading and writing. I tried to get some books so I could help him but the school library didn’t have much.” Steve explained. "I see. I assume you think he has dyslexia?” She asked. "Yeah, the school are horrible to him Mom. He takes notes as little pictures and Mr Adam ripped them up today.” Steve said sadly.
His Mother frowned. "They shouldn’t have done that. That’s not fair.” She whispered. "Exactly! So I want to try help him but I’m not sure how.”
"I’ll have a chat with my friend who’s a teacher at the elementary school. She has told me before about dyslexic students and the little tools she has to help.” She assured him. "Thanks. I’ll go back to Eddie now.” Steve smiled at his Mom before running back up the stairs. "I’m back, sorry had to talk to my Mom. So what’d you want to study?” Steve asked dropping onto his bed beside Eddie. "Could I look at your history notes. I didn’t get a chance to redo mine.” Eddie asked sheepishly. "Yeah of course.” Steve grabbed his notebook from his bag.
They sat in silence as Steve looked over his chemistry notes and Eddie just stared at Steve’s history notes. The blue pen. Steve completely forgot Eddie struggled more to read blue pen. "Need any help?” Steve offered. "I can’t read it.” Eddie admitted. “Give me a minute.” Steve took the notebook and rewrote all his notes in a black pen for Eddie. Eddie watched as Steve copied his notes word for word and then ripped it out his book. “I’ve got glue somewhere around here, we can glue that page in and then you can draw on the one next to it?” Steve suggested. “Yeah, that would be good.” Eddie couldn’t believe the help he’d been getting off Steve all day.
“Ah here we go.” Steve carefully glued his page of notes in. "Perfect. Is that any better?” Steve asked. "Yeah it’s a lot better, thanks man.” Eddie looked more relaxed. "I’ve actually got a couple books. Feel free to tell me to shut up if I’m overstepping but they might help.” Steve grabbed one of the books from his backpack. “This is a super old case study by some British guy called W. Pringle Morgan. It’s called A Case of Congenital Word Blindness. It’s about this thing it’s called dyslexia, it’s where you struggle with reading and writing.” Steve explained. “It says here ‘Percy, aged 14. A bright and intelligent boy, quick at games, and in no way inferior to others of his age. His great difficulty has been -and is now- his inability to learn to read’.”
Eddie looked up at Steve. He had went to the library and learned all this for him. “It’s super old so there’s not really much on how to help it. But we can try different things and see what works for you.” Steve really hoped he hadn’t offended Eddie. "You went to the library to try and help me?” Eddie asked. "Yeah, I mean the school should be helping you anyway. So I thought I might as well try find something since they’re a bunch of assholes in there.” Steve explained. “That’s really nice of you Steve.” A lot nicer than anyone else had been to Eddie. They saw his drawings and called him stupid, unacademic and a rotten apple as Principal Higgins so kindly named him. Steve saw someone who just needed a little extra help.
"Anything to try help. Besides you’re actually pretty cool and I’m actually a friendless loser. So a little selfishly this is for me too.” Steve admitted. "I’m pretty cool?” Eddie laughed. "You are super cool. You dress and act exactly how you want to and you’re unashamed of who you are.” Steve gushed. "I’m in shock. Steve Harrington thinks I’m cool.” Eddie teased. "Don’t let it go to your head. That hairs already big enough.” Steve warned. "My hair? Look at your hair!” Eddie retorted still laughing. "That’s fair.” Steve laughed too.
Their study and hangouts became a regular thing. So did just hanging out without studying first. Steve’s Mom talked to the elementary school teacher and got some advice. They tried using rulers to put under the line Eddie was reading, it stopped his brain jumping from word to word. They tried highlighting the words, though the bright colours were too distracting. And of course every time Eddie turned a page he got an M&M as a prize. They saw his grades improve dramatically and his notes expanded to drawings with scribbles of explanation beside them. In the same way textbooks had. Now there was no way Mr Adam could say they weren’t proper notes.
“Eds!” Steve called out as he jogged up to Eddie’s locker. "Hey big boy.” Steve finally met the boisterous Eddie from the cafeteria. He was no longer shy around Steve, he was comfortable around Steve. "Want to come round to mine? Dad’s on a business trip and my Mom went with him, so just us?” Steve suggested. The thought of them being alone in the giant Harrington house did something to Eddie. His stomach felt all fluttery and he could definitely feel his face warming up. "I’ll be there.” Eddie grinned and pushed down his confusing feelings. "Awesome, feel free to stay over. I’ll lend you some clothes and pyjamas.” Steve gave a small finger wave and left.
“Someone’s blushing.”
"Jesus H Christ! Ronnie I shit my pants.” Eddie groaned. "Gross.”
“Obviously not literally! And I wasn’t blushing!” Eddie complained. "Well you weren’t blushing but you are now.” She teased. "Shut up.” Eddie grumbled. "I’ll shut up when you fix your crush on Steve Harrington. Maybe when you’re wearing his Jim jams tonight.” Ronnie winked. "What was that wink for?” Eddie asked. "No reason.”
"Ronnie why did you wink? Tell me!” She just laughed and walked away.
They kept their usual routine. Ronnie took the keys to the van and Steve gave Eddie a ride. It was different being in Steve’s house without his Mom floating around or hearing his Dad typing away in his study. "I reckon we watch a movie, as long as you promise not to fall asleep this time.” Steve teased. "I stayed up the whole night studying for Mr Adam’s stupid test! Was not my fault.” Eddie complained. “And you got a B on Mr Adam’s stupid test, which is amazing by the way, so maybe it was worth it.” Steve leaned back on the couch but left his eyes on Eddie. He watched as Eddie blushed and struggled to take the compliment. “You’re amazing at everything, when I heard you sing at the Hideout it was crazy! You’re going to be so famous with that voice.” Steve kept spewing out compliment after compliment.
Eddie squirmed at the attention and Steve took great joy in flustering Eddie. "Oh and your drawings. Wow!” Steve kept going. “What are you doing?” Eddie asked, confused and blushing at all the compliments. "Can I not compliment a friend?” Steve asked. “Not that much!” Eddie whined. "I just love how easy it is to make you freak out. You need to learn how to take a compliment by the way.” Steve chuckled. “Shut up.” Eddie huffed. Steve smirked as he planned to continue his compliment train. “And your eyes are so pretty. Such pretty doe eyes.” Steve knew he was flirting. He also knew he was doing it on purpose. It was hard to hide his feelings for Eddie.
“Really?” Eddie asked surprised. “Now you’re fishing for more compliments.” Steve smirked. “No I’d very much like them to end.” Eddie assured Steve. "Eddie I really like you. I like you since that day I passed you that note. I wanted to help you so bad and seeing your grades improve and those assholes finally lay off you. I’m so proud of you and I’m so glad you’re comfortable enough around me to be yourself. So I was wondering if you’d consider being my boyfriend?” The confession took both of them by surprise, but Steve couldn’t stop the words flowing out his mouth like word vomit. "I’d really like that.” Eddie smiled. “Cool.” Steve replied.
They sat grinning for the rest of the night. Smiles that couldn’t be wiped off by Principal Higgins’ existence or the fear of people at school finding out. Steve didn’t even try to kiss Eddie, which he normally would’ve done by now if he were Steve if a couple years ago. The most they did was cuddle whilst watching the movie and they were both happy with that. Happy to be close to each other. Happy that Eddie was wearing Steve’s pyjamas. Happy that at least one of them got the courage to speak up. Just happy that Steve decided to pass a note to Eddie one day and improve not only his grades, but every aspect of his life.

"He’s late.” Gareth complained from the drum kit. Jeff sighed and turned to mic stand without a singer. "It’s all that time he’s spending with Harrington. Don’t know why he wants to be friends with that asshole in the first place.” Gareth grumbled. "Hey. Eddie can make his bad decisions all he wants, we warned him. He’ll learn the hard way.” Jeff spoke. "What do you think they even talk about?” Doug asked. Now that was a question. What did Eddie and Steve spend so much time talking about together? They had not one thing in common, it must be boring.
"Beer?” Gareth suggested and the other two snickered. "Oh look who it is.” Doug pointed to the BMW pulling up outside. Eddie ran out the car waving back at Steve who pulled away instantly. "Shit guys I’m sorry!” Eddie dropped his guitar case quite brutally and ripped it out the case. "Harrington that amusing?” Gareth asked bitterly. "We just lost track of time, we went a walk in the woods and I almost fell in the lake and-"
"Let’s just start, already running out of time before my Mother pulls the plug.” Gareth cut him off. Eddie’s smile fell slowly, he picked up the guitar wordlessly and plugged into the amp.
Jeff had expected it to go bad considering how distracted Eddie seemed. Though the practice went amazing and Eddie was so passionate whilst singing. Jeff thought about the smile melting off his face and how he looked physically pained to not talk about Steve Harrington. He was definitely closer to Steve than he let on. "Wrap it up there?” Jeff asked. “Yeah my fucking fingers hurt.” Doug complained whilst flapping his hand around. "That went really well.” Gareth commented. "Yeah it did.” Jeff agreed. Though his smile fell when he realised Eddie didn’t bring his van. "Eddie you usually drive us home.” He pointed out.
Eddie who had been silent since Gareth cut him off looked up suddenly. "Oh shit. I’m sure Steve wouldn’t mind?” He suggested. The idea of getting in a car with Steve Harrington made him want to throw up. “It’s only three guitars we’ll fit them.” He added. “Harrington’s picking you up after already spending the whole day with you?” Gareth snarled. “We’re going to watch a movie at his.” Eddie replied defensively. “Have fun watching Grease or something stupid.” Gareth rolled his eyes. "I will.” Eddie spat. Jeff hated the tension rising between them. Doug stood awkwardly and tried to ignore it.
Steve pulled in five minutes later. Even though they finished early. “Hi Steve.” Eddie bounded up to the car like a puppy. "Hi Eds. You all done already I was hoping to catch you singing.” Steve pouted. "You’ll just have to come see us in the Hideout then.” Eddie leaned on the car door. The conversation felt so natural, not at all like Jeff was imagining. "Oh yeah, you have to drive Jeff and Doug home too.” Eddie said before climbing in the car. "Oh yeah no problem.” Steve replied. Unlike the Steve Jeff and Doug remembered. He seemed unbothered by them, like he really didn’t mind having to drive them home.
Jeff and Doug climbed in the back of Steve’s beemer. Holding their guitars uncomfortably. “Sorry there’s not a lot of room for guitars.” Steve apologised and it made them uncomfortable. “Oh no problem.” Jeff answered. "How was practice?” Steve asked and it was obviously directed at Eddie. "It went so good! I don’t think any of us made a single mistake.” Eddie gushed. "Sounds like you had fun too. You better be good when I come see you.” Steve teased. "It’ll be the best performance you’ve ever seen.” Eddie promised. “The best performance I’ve ever seen was you singing every part of Rocky Horror, drunk as a skunk of course.” Steve laughed.
Eddie flushed at Steve exposing him to his friends. Though they were too busy being shocked that Steve knew what Rocky Horror was. "That was a vulnerable moment in my life! Don’t go spreading that around!” Eddie yelled. "Apologies my liege.” Steve said in a funny voice. “Apology not accepted.” Eddie crossed his arms and looked away from Steve. Though it was all playful. "How about you look in the glove box and reconsider.” Steve smirked. Eddie ripped the glove box open and gasped at what he saw. "You got me Metallica’s new album Master of Puppets!?” Eddie held the cassette close, like it was his most prized possession. "You told me you wanted it.” Steve chuckled.
Jeff and Doug were now both watching the pair closely. Trying to pick apart the interaction and understand how two entirely different people could possibly mesh so well. "You remembered?” Eddie looked over at Steve. Jeff was studying his face. His eyes were glossed over and massive. Like he was in disbelief that Steve had remembered something he said. “Of course I did Eds.” Steve answered like it was the most natural thing in the world. Like he had a bank in his brain full of things Eddie had said. "Thank you.” Eddie’s smile was genuine. The same smile Gareth wiped off his face earlier that day. A smile Jeff had seen before, when Eddie thought he was in love.
Steve looked over at Eddie. His eyes full of nothing but fondness for Eddie. Full of love for Eddie. It was then Jeff realised it wasn’t only Eddie who happened to be in love. Steve was madly in love with Eddie. So obviously in love with Eddie that both Jeff and Doug noticed it immediately. “Are you two dating?” The words blurted out of Doug so suddenly Jeff spluttered in shock. Eddie turned to Steve, clearly having a silent conversation with their eyes. Though whatever they agreed on, Doug already had his answer. “Yes. We’re dating.” Eddie answered. He stared at his friends waiting on a reaction. "Really?” Jeff asked.
He wasn’t shocked that Eddie was dating Steve. He was shocked that Eddie was dating at all. He often went on rants about how love wasn’t real and how he’d never fall in love with anyone. “Really.” Steve answered for Eddie. "You said you’d never date anyone ever?” Doug questioned and Jeff was thankful he was asking all the questions going through his head. "Well that was before I met the right person.” Eddie smiled at Steve. Jeff was having an out of body experience watching his best friend and someone he’s hated his whole life share so much love for each other. "It took a lot of convincing. But he just couldn’t resist my charm.” Steve looked smug. "Maybe I was just fed up with all the notes falling out my locker. Only dating you so you stop annoying me.” Eddie joked.
They worked well together. Which was entirely unexpected. "Ouch my heart.” Steve clutched his chest in faux pain. "I pity whoever has to tell Gareth.” Doug winced at the thought. Gareth was nothing but standoffish when it came to Steve. “We can wait on him to grow up a bit first.” Eddie laughed. All Jeff hoped was that it wasn’t soon. He was not ready to try rip Gareth off Steve when he inevitably pounced on him. “You’re gonna have to get Steve a body guard for that conversation.” Doug joked. Whatever tension was still lingering in the car was finally relieved as they all laughed. Sure they felt guilty for not telling Gareth, but they would when he was ready. Also when Steve learned some self defence moves.
Corroded Coffin’s popularity takes off and Eddie learns almost immediately that he does not like flying.
This fear aversion to flying is made worse every time Steve travels with the band because Steve will lean over him to the rest of the band and say shit like, “Hey, you guys all wanna go to the back of the plane and jump at the same time?”
To which Eddie, gripping his armrest like no tomorrow, says, “No. They do not.”
“I heard the pilot say he was going to do a barrel roll later.”

Eddie Munson was wrong about a lot of things. Though he knew he wasn't wrong about Steve and Nancy. I mean she jumped headfirst into a freezing cold lake to save the guy. You couldn't be much more in love than that. "It's doesn't feel right. Bouncing between Jonathan and Steve." Nancy spoke. "I support your right to bounce around, play with people's feelings man, if it helps you figure it out." Eddie replied from Nancy's bed. He looked ridiculously out of place in her pink frilly room. "And that is why you're single." She chided. Eddie scoffed and sat up to look at her.
Their current situation started with a conversation about what Steve liked. "I like brown curly hair and when people dress in all that dark shit. Like you.” Steve admitted to Eddie. Who obliviously said "Oh cool, not a lot of girls are like that in Hawkins though.” Steve’s word choice of ‘people’ instead of girls flew right over Eddie’s head. As did Steve’s attempt at confessing to Eddie. Which is why Eddie was in Nancy Wheeler’s room helping her dress in ‘all that dark shit’ so she could figure out her feelings for Steve. "Are you sure he said he liked this?” Nancy asked eyeing herself in the mirror.
She was wearing a denim skirt with black tights underneath, black leather boots, a plain black tank top and a leather jacket. “Positive. You need eye liner or something though.” Eddie stared thoughtfully. "I already feel ridiculous, I’ll look insane with black shit on my eyes.” Nancy complained. "Fine I can ham it up tonight so you won’t be the only one.” So they both ended up in leather jackets and eye liner. With a mission of figuring out if Steve still likes Nancy and if Nancy wants to reciprocate those feelings. All they had to do now was meet Robin and Steve in the bar and let the outfit work its magic.
It wasn’t hard to spot Steve and Robin in the hideout. They dressed absolutely ridiculous most of the time and stuck out like a pair of idiots. "I’ll go get us drinks you go lay it on Steve.” Eddie whispered to Nancy. “You gross me out.” Nancy replied. Eddie stuck his tongue out and headed for the bar. Nancy gave Steve and Robin a little wave as she approached. “Wow Nance! You look really different.” Steve commented. Though he didn’t blush or look attracted to her like Eddie said he would. "You look good.” Robin smiled, her cheeks faintly pink. “Thank you.” Nancy smiled back. Robin turned away from her, definitely blushing.
Though Nancy didn’t have much time to think about it because Eddie was back with their drinks and something about spending time with Eddie took away her common sense. Stick the two in a room together and not a single thought is formed between them. "You look really good Eddie.” Steve couldn’t stop staring at the eyeliner framing his huge brown eyes. It was distracting honestly. "Thank you, do you like Nance’s new look?” Eddie asked extremely obviously hinting. "Yeah it’s nice.” Steve answered, his eyes didn’t leave Eddie’s. "Really nice.” Robin added.
Eddie was growing increasingly frustrated at Steve paying more attention to him than Nancy. He got her all dressed up and he didn’t even care! Robin was paying more attention to her than him. Steve was even more frustrated that Eddie was oblivious to his advances. He was openly flirting with the guy and Eddie didn’t even seem to notice. Not only that Nancy seemed to not notice Robin was drooling over her. "What’re you drinking?” Steve asked Eddie. "Whisky coke.” Eddie answered. Not giving Steve the attention he desperately craved from Eddie. "I’ll get your next one.” Steve flirted. Hoping Eddie would catch on. "Thanks man! I’ve been broke as shit recently.” He answered.
That definitely didn’t work. "Well I could help you out. Look after you.” Steve was really trying. "Nah man I can’t take money off you.” Eddie replied. Somehow still not catching the flirting. Nancy was clearly also not catching on to Robin sweating nervously next to her. “Your hair looks nice Eddie. Do something different?” Steve leaned on the table and held eye contact. "Nancy put some shit in it, it smells weird.” Eddie complained. "I put conditioner in it Eddie.” Nancy replied. "I’m glad she did, it looks good.” Steve grinned, tilted his head and honest to god batted his eyelashes. "Don’t get used to it I can’t stand the smell of this shit.” Eddie broke eye contact and glared at Nancy.
"Okay for fuck sake!” Steve yelled. He finally had enough. "I know you two share a brain but did you forget to bring it with you tonight?” Steve asked annoyed. To make matters worse Nancy and Eddie just stared at him like he’d grown another head. “I’ve been very clearly flirting with Eddie all night and Robin can barely even get a word out to Nancy because she has a major crush on her and you two haven’t even noticed!” Steve complained. "You’re flirting with me?” "You have a crush on me?” The pair asked at the same time. "This is ridiculous! Eddie I confessed to you weeks ago and you thought I was talking about my type in girls!” Something in Eddie’s brain clicked at that. "Oh.” He answered.
Nancy stared at Robin and waited on her to answer. “Yeah I’ve had a bit of a crush on you.” She turned red and refused to meet Nancy’s eyes. "Oh.” Nancy said thoughtfully. “All you two have to say is 'oh'?” Steve asked. "We’re thinking!” Eddie stuck his hand up. "First time tonight.” Steve mumbled crossing his arms. "Wait but you liked Nance.” Eddie started and stared at Steve. "That was months ago! Besides that was during all the Vecna shit and not one of us was thinking straight.” Steve argued. "This makes more sense actually.” Nancy said looking at Robin. "Let’s go talk somewhere else and leave these two to talk as well.” Robin suggested and Nancy followed.
"So…” Eddie trailed off. "I really like you Eddie. I have for a while and I hoped you would catch on at some point.” Steve explained. "I’m dumb as a rock Steve, you have to spell things out for me.” Eddie laughed. "So I’ve learned. What do you think? About my feelings for you.” Steve asked hopefully. "I mean obviously I have feelings for you but I thought you and Nance were like basically back together so I pushed them down.” Eddie explained. "I would say you need to stop thinking but between you and Nance I don’t think either of you were thinking tonight.” Steve teased. "That’s fair.” Eddie laughed again.
Robin and Nancy stared at each other. Both waiting on the other to say something. "So you have a crush on me.” Nancy stated. "I mean yeah. Like wow.” Robin avoided eye contact. "I like you too.” Nancy smiled. Robin spluttered. "You like me?” She asked bewildered. "I happen to like freckles and someone who makes me laugh.” Nancy tilted her head. A teasing smile on her face. “Okay this is really unexpected.” Robin looked frantically confused. "Can I ask? Is it only when I look like this because I don’t plan on dressing like this after today.” Nancy asked. "No! Not at all! I mean I like the look, I love the look! But I like the way you dress more, I mean I’m attracted to this in the same way people are attracted to Halloween costumes.” Robin explained and Nancy laughed.
After having talked out their feelings and having to spell everything out for Nancy and Eddie, they rejoined each other. "Eddie and I are dating now.” Steve grinned, clearly proud of himself. "Me and Nancy are too.” Robin looked like she barely believed it. "So between all our plans for tonight, me and Robin won. In your faces.” Steve teased. "Hey! We got there eventually!” Eddie argued. "Yeah but we still won.” Steve boasted. "Well our plan was actually to piss you off and you lost your shit so actually we won.” Nancy smirked and Eddie cackled. "We really have to separate you two.”
