To elaborate: Trump’s base only likes the things he does because they believe that his violence will never ever ever touch them. If jimbob jr gets told to hold a rifle and kill halfway round the world, a lot of them are going to be very very angry.

Because here’s the thing: they are soft, weak people. They think they’re hard and strong because they say slurs and don’t care about politic correctness or wokeness or whatever, but they’re still angry about having to wear masks in public half a decade ago. They’re mad that they have to share public spaces with “those people.” They desire the chance to commit violence but in their fantasies they are always invincible, their enemies weak, easily overpowered.

You might think that they’d be fine with their children being drafted. You are wrong. They will flee this man, who promised them no more foreign wars, like rats from a sinking ship the moment his entanglements affect them. Mark my words.
