i think its bs mapleshade wld haunt oakstar’s grandson/frecklewish’s (half) nephew. but frecklewish would. frecklewish would haunt him.
frecklewish is thrilled when pinekit is born. even more so when he becomes deputy and leader. she is just as distraught about birchface’s legacy in death as she was abt it in life. pinestar can fill that void.
until he cant. and he leaves the clans.
but his son: good gracious his son. spitting image of birchface. frecklewish probably has some ‘starclan’ sense that tigers gonna go on to bigger and better things. so while he’s spoiled in the nursery as the only kit (til whitekits born) frecklewish is visiting him and telling him about his destiny and his family
as tiger becomes an apprentice, freckle trains him and encourages his ego/pride. she implements his ideas of halfclan cats. his ideas of power. that her brother was a great warrior who shouldve left a huge legacy but couldnt because of halfclan traitors and riverclan scum. that his father disgraced thunderclan and his family’s name. that tiger is DESTINED to become leader and clean the slate. to avenge his fallen uncle.
she tells him about appledusk, about his family, that crookedstar is a threat and oakheart as his deputy is a spit in the face to their family.
the battle of sunningrocks happens a bit differently: oakheart deals a potentially fatal blow to redtail. instead of getting redtail help, tigerclaw kills oakheart. appledusk killing birchface has come full circle. but because tiger didnt get help, red dies (sound familiar? crooked and rainflower? hm?????)
freckle expects to feel better after this, but doesnt. she wants riverclan GONE. she finds out about bluestar’s kits. she wants bluestar dead for being a traitor, a traitor with APPLEDUSKS KIN. she instills this in tiger. its why tiger tries to kill blue. to get rid of a traitor and take his place as the rightful ruler of thunderclan. but he fails like he does in canon.
freckle keeps his spirits high. she encourages him to shadowclan. she fakes the sign for him (like maple and crooked). she sets him in motion to take over riverclan. it allllll comes back to appledusk. its why stonefur has to die. its why thunderclan and riverclan halfclans are prisoners (and theyre all apple kin)
everythings going perfect until scourge and tigers death. he is distraught for failing his family, to which frecklewish waves it off. he didnt fail. he left a vicious legacy. he has kits who he can teach himself (with her help).
