Project Broadway Week 1- Tony Awards week
Best Performance from a Featured Actress in a Musical + Favorite winner- Nikki M. James
Can we just look at the difference in lyrics from the beginning to the end of the Book of Mormon?
Youâre gonna die someday But if you read this book Youâll see that thereâs another way Spend eternity with friends and family We can fully guarantee you That this book will change your life - âHelloâ
When the world is getting you down Thereâs nobody else to blame Raise your middle finger to the sky And curse his rotten name -Â âHasa Diga Eebowaiâ
Lots of negativity, pain, and two completely different methods of coping with life. And then you go through the show, and everybody grows and changes, and you come to the finale, where everyone believes in the crazy stuff Arnold is preaching. And you get this, the very, very end of the show:Â
We are Latter Day Saints We take life one day at a time When the chips are down we know just what to say The past may be in tatters But today is all that matters Because today is yesterdayâs Latter Day -Â âTomorrow is a Latter Dayâ
Everyone in the cast sings that part together, and I think thatâs really what makes the show mean something. Religion is just another way of dealing with this ball of shit we call life, and cursing God isnât going to make anything better, just as blind faith in a church wonât. Itâs a great ending, because none of them believe in the literalism of Arnoldâs words, but they believe in the meaning, and thatâs all that matters. Today is all that matters, and being right or wrong and finding the right person to blame for everything doesnât mean anything, at the end of the day.Â
The Book of Mormon London- 30/10/15- Highlights!
âąThe whole fucking show lets be real but particular favourite bits:
âąBrian as Cunningham in Hello yelling âMY BADâ after the Mission President started telling him off for not sticking to the approved dialogue
âąHow pissed Nic looked when he said âHe answered your prayer⊠Huhâ in the scene after Two By Two
âąNicâs acting whilst Stephan as McKinley was singing about Steve Blade- he was like staring at Stephan really intensely whilst he was singing the deserted island bit and then once he sang âTurn It Off!â Nic just looked really self conscious it was great
âąBrianâs enthusiastic clapping at the end of Turn It Off
âą"The BLONDE! HAIRED! Blue eyed voice of GOD!â
âą"I bet the horse meat there is plentifulâŠâ
âąTHE KEVIN/CONNOR ALMOST-KISS. IT HAPPENED. IN FRONT OF MY EYES. I ALMOST DIED.
âą*Elder Price says heâs leaving* *ridiculously high pitched squeak/gasp from Elder McKinley*
âąThe fact that on the back of Elder McKinleyâs Man Up outfit it says âHighway to Hellâ. Love that foreshadowing for act 2.
âąAll of Hell Dream, but in particular âTHATâS MY DAAAAADDDDDD!!!!â. Also how relived Kevin looked when Connor arrived and then how upset he looked when Connor pushed him away
âąThe transition between Hell and Uganda, thatâs done so well itâs crazy
âą"Ohh, you had the hell dream, didnât you? âŠWas I in it?â I LITERALLY ALMOST SCREAMED THEY DID IT SO PERFECTLY
âąThe General mouthing "I hate youâ whilst Elder Price was dancing holding his hand during I Believe
âąThere was also this really awkward hilarious bit where Nic was singing I Believe kneeling down and he reached for the Generalâs hand but instead just stroked up his thigh
âąAll of Baptize Me but in particular Brian practicing baptising Naba in the background whilst she was singing her verse
âąAll of I Am Africa, particularly Arnold calling Naba âNecrophiliaâ and all the harmonies
âąAt some point as well (I canât remember when) Arnold called Naba âNigel Farageâ, the whole audience fucking lost it, they had to stand there while we all clapped for like a full minute, then once we stopped he was like âYeah Nigeâ and everyone lost it again it was amazing
âąI have discovered my new favourite thing: watching Elder McKinley, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham whilst Joseph Smith American Moses is happening. Youâve got Arnold just looking completely horrified, Kevin trying not to laugh and Connor chatting with Kevin all through it, looking mildly sick and also trying not to dance along but doing it anyway at some points. Fucking brilliant.
âą"You know what guys? FUCK HIM!â Especially cause after Kevin said it Connor just looked like he was about to melt, nice acting Stephen!
âąDURING TOMORROW IS A LATTER DAY CONNOR AND KEVIN KEPT SINGING AT EACHOTHER AND MAKING EYE CONTACT AND AFTER "We love to dance and shout, and let all our feelings out!â KEVIN JUST TURNED TO CONNOR AND THEY WINKED AT EACHOTHER I CANâT EVEN
âąToday was like the biggest standing ovation Iâve ever been a part of. Like everyone in the stalls was standing up it was incredible
âąAfter the bows they talked about how loads of shows are supporting some charity or something atm and asking for donations, and Brian kept making jokes and it was bloody hilarious
âąMEETING BRIAN AND NIC. I STILL CANâT BELIEVE THAT HAPPENED. THEY WERE SO LOVELY. I WAS LIKE âThe show was amazingâ AND THEY WERE ALL LIKE âAw thankyou for coming to see itâ AND WHILST WE WERE TAKING PICTURES BRIAN WAS LIKE âWow that is a fancy fucking cameraâ CAUSE WE WERE USING A POLAROID CAMERA AND SO NOW I HAVE A POLAROID OF ME AND NIC AND BRIAN IN COSTUME. I CANâT EVEN BELIEVE THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED.
âąIt was the best show Iâve ever seen live, and Iâve seen like 12 different shows live before this. Favourite musical ever.
