It's not about pride. You don't get it. This is the way it has to be for us. If I'd caught her on day ten or twenty, I wouldn't known she wasn't worth it. I would've known she was weak. This is how it's supposed to be. She's mine. And I'm hers.
The Reclaiming, Day 67: Roz
The Reclaiming is written from the vantage point of seven different characters.
Juniper: An endangered woman, who must traverse the desolate wild to escape a life of slavery.
Yuri: A notorious and brutal clan chief who has sixty days to capture Juniper, or be executed and thrown in the bloody pit.
Theia: A domesticated birth slave secretly working for the rebellion.
Roz: A tech Resurrector from a disgraced clan, searching for answers.
Ransom: Juniper’s brother and best friend, harboring a dangerous secret that could destroy them all.
Heli: A young boy abandoned at birth by a desperate, infected woman.
Alice: An infected woman who must save her children before it’s too late.
Writing in this way allowed us to explore complicated issues like feminism, misogyny, misandry, death, gender, technology, humanity, women’s rights, etc. from many different angles.
You can find The Reclaiming, Book One of the Auction Series, on Amazon.

Xenie Eye by Jimmy Cooper
A colorful but somehow still creepy fan art I’ve been in love with since I saw it.
Internets When You’re Old
I am almost forty and trying to figure out social media. Here is what I have learned so far:
1. Facebook - Other old people plus ads for things I talked about once.
2. Twitter - Arguing about politics. Witty people with decent IQs.
3. Tumblr - Mean-but-funny + memes, art, sad quotes in the rain
4. TikTok - Good-looking people dancing + robotic lady voice
5. Reddit - Chaos. Do not attempt.
6. Youtube - Pets, Makeups, and gamers.
7. Instagram - Floppy hats, staged everything, hashtags
Are there more? Please tell me there’s not more.
Rolha de Poço
My WIP (book) has a Brazilian character and my best Brazilian friend/consultant just taught me the phrase “Rolha de Poço” and when she tried to explain why “well stopper” was, in fact, a hilarious insult, I laughed so hard I choked on a pretzel stick. Help explain this please, Brazilians, to my English speaking friends.
The more I write, the more I think this is true.
Virginity isn't a virtue. It isn't like kindness or honesty. It doesn't add anything to your value, and losing it certainly doesn't take anything away.
The Reclaiming, Alice, Day 45
Another amazing piece of character art by Jeff Yeh. This one is our favorite of a Xenie.
Jeffrey, Jeffrey Bezos
I didn’t know there was a song about Jeff Bezos and I heard it today, and now I can’t get it out of my head. Hope you like thinking about it, too.
Things I shouldn’t know about but do because of my WIP: crematoriums, dog tranquilizers, poison, taxidermy, all the types of donuts.
Juniper Removes Her Tracker - Watercolor by Wanderson Neves.
Another gorgeous piece of book art.
Writing is thinking, and thinking is hard work.
Lewis Black
Anyone can write a story, but not everyone can write an eternal story. Immortal writing demands the selfless surrender of the natural walls humans build to keep others from violating their deepest and most terrible emotions.
Harker McNair
Fan art by Jeff Yeh. Character Roz Ramone, The Reclaiming.
Unpopular opinion: Dads sleep weirder than dogs.
