Thorn collar by Thierry Mugler
A little comic for Mermay
while iâm on the subject i do think itâs interesting that when weâre talking about cristina jaime diego we always say rosales rather than mendoza or rocio even though the norm when shortening double surnames is to use the one that comes first. we rarely even say the full name even though thatâs proper. now i know itâs due to the rosales plotline of it all and i think thereâs also potential for a less kind interpretation of why but at the end of the day what iâm seeing and clocking is that the rosales family is strongarming every other family out of significance. makes me laugh. you have rosales blood? Good. That Is The Only One That Matters
in a kierarktina context of soldier poet king cristina is the soldier but i would argue that with cristina diego jaime diego is the soldier and jaime is the poet which of course makes cristina the
*looks at polyamorous triad* so which of you is the soldier and which is the poet and which is the king
Your father use to roleplay as a tape worm for my pleqsure
hope he did a good job at least. Didn't embarrass the whole family.

no you don't get to say both or neither or a secret third thing. pick a side.
i think 'I trust you with my life but not your own' as a trope is one of the ones that can always fuck me up no matter what
alright you know what i was originally, like, just a little peeved that we donât really have a good answer for why parabatai have to be formed before adulthood. now iâm just straight up mad. what is the legitimate reasoning for why adults are apparently incapable of agape. why is the âtrue loveâ that advances parabatai to the stage of angelic magic only romantic. why is our definition of true love only romantic. why is agape, defined as the âhighest, most selflessâ form of love still secondary to romantic love. answer quickly.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT what really pisses me off about this line of worldbuilding is that it implies that if you are an adult it is âtoo lateâ to find your person. no. shut up. it is never too late.

itâs been posed to me that potentially the reason behind 18-or-younger for parabatai is because you need to start training to fight as a pair, and the older you get the more likely you are to form your own fighting style, which may not blend well with someone else. which has merit as a concept but 1) if that was the case, why didnât they just Say That and 2) look, man. i donât want to bring my side interest hockey into this but if grown white men on knife shoes can learn to move in sync and read each otherâs movements moving and shooting puck at up to 90 mph within a year IF NOT MONTHS of being thrown onto a team theyâve never worked with in their lives im fairly confident that shadowhunters, who similarly spend a good chunk of their lives doing nothing but training in an insane way, can still become unstoppable elite demon-killing teams as adults if they are soul bonded enough.
Yes, this one, this one fits, after all the stumbling around and searching, and here it is.
Magnus started to laugh. It was odd to laugh and feel desire at the same time; he wasnât sure heâd had that with anyone but Alec.
For you, Alec, it's always yes.
He wasnât ready for death, but if it came today, he would face it with his head held high and Alexander Lightwoodâs name on his lips.
âMagnus!â Shinyunâs voice was hoarse and cracked. âI demand that you take the third blow from the Svefnthorn. I demand it. Or I will kill the thing you love best.â
âWill you spare Alec?â he said quietly. âPromise youâll let Alec go, and Iâll do it.â
My love for yours, my heart for yours, my soul for yours, Alexander. Now and for all time.

Hate how people treat friendship like it's nothing more than the training wheels version of romantic love.
Children's cartoons are full of the power of friendship, but as soon as you get to media for teens or adults it's all about "true love" which is almost exclusively used to refer to romantic love. Children's media focuses on friendship and holds it up as a deep and valuable bond, but once romance is involved friendship is relegated to a nice side garnish if it's acknowledged at all. And as soon as the target audience is old enough to be interested in romance it's nearly impossible to find any stories without it as at least a subplot.
When someone starts dating it's not only normalized but near-universally expected that they'll put their friends second to their partner, regardless of the length or depth of the respective relationships. The "friendzone" is where you hang out when you're hoping for a "real relationship." When there's a romantic or sexual aspect they're "more than friends."
I'm going to end up on the news.
enough old man yaoi. We need old woman yuri IMMEDIATELY
As for my tlh rant...
How do you fumble some of the best characters you've ever created by giving them such a lousy plot and poorly executed story. We could've had it all and instead we got Belial and Lilith war nonsense.
We could've had a character-driven trilogy, we didn't need such an elaborate and convoluted plot. I would've been more than happy to have three books exploring interpersonal relationships with the occasional plot intervention for the sake of expanding on certain themes needed for twp, but reading tlh made me feel like CC thought she needed a plot or else.
The thing is that the characters were SO amazing. The were so complex and charismatic and interesting, and their chemistry and dynamics were so rich, but by the end of chain of thorns it just felt like all of that was lost to the mess that was the story itself. There was just too much going on that took the attention away from the characters and I personally just would have enjoyed it a lot more if the focus remained on them.
Idk. All of this is just my own opinion of course, I'm sure people enjoyed it for what it was, but unfortunately it just disappointed me so bad I can't help but mourn its potential.
Actually I think I cracked the code lol my impression is that CC has been focused on twp and tlh was merely a way for her to tie some loose ends so that things in twp made sense. That's why TLH feels so... all over the place. It's like CC's heart wasn't really into it, it was more like a vehicle or device to further develop the story for twp than it was its own thing.
