Wisp’s organza cape is completed with the addition of some black lace. It tidies up the edges and gives it a lovely professional finish. The cape took four and a half meters of lace, which was added in one long piece.

This is my version of Cinderella’s ball gown. the original 1950 Disney gown is one of my all time favourites, so I didn’t want to move too far away from the classic, Victorian inspired, but I wanted it to have more detail than the sleek, 1950 interpretation.

The first key design feature is butterflies. Cinderella’s magical transformation is a pivotal point in the story and echoes the dreams of so many girls, young and old.Cinderella is like a butterfly so I wanted my gown to look subtley like one as well as little butterflies flitting amongst the fabric roses.

The second design feature is dancing. Cinderella’s dance with the Prince is the next most important event in the story so it’s important the dress enables me to move and glide around the ball room. I took inspiration from classic ball room dancing dresses with the ethereal chiffon swags which attach to the wrist. By coincidence these also echo the original 1950 gown in some ways.

Delicate lace and asymmetric styling with crystal beading and feminine floral details gives the gown the perfect modern twist.
