The Main Guys' Ideal Partners - AMC's The Walking Dead!
Doing the main guys because I remember them the best. It's been a while since I've seen the show, but I felt the urge to make this lol
This isn't just what they're into (though this absolutely includes that), but what I imagine would be best for them, too. Even if it's vaguely opposite personalities. I just sort of looked up who the main guys would be, so to be easy this includes: Rick Grimes, Daryl Dixon, Carl Grimes (aged up of course), and Negan Smith! I can do others if people want to as well <3

I will say that for all of these guys, I think loyalty is absolutely one of the biggest traits they'd strive for!
They also seem to be the kind who would like stubborn people haha

He has two women in the series, so this is sort of answered? I honestly thought Michonne was a good match for him, so really someone similar. I think loyalty was huge between them, there wasn't really a doubt who they sort of "belonged" to
Definitely someone who can match his empathy, but they also have to be able to put their foot down and butt heads if he's being too nice again. I felt like some of Rick's empathy blindness went away later, but just in case...
He also seems like someone who could use lots of communication in a relationship. Someone who actually talks to him about how they feel
You'd also have to be family-oriented, I'd think. If you can't get along with his kids, he doesn't want you lmao
Definitely gives me the vibes of someone who likes a bold partner
Overall, he'd want someone who can challenge him if needed but still has the best interest of others at heart. You can't be selfish or downright a bad person around him if you want Rick to like you.

Out of the gate: You need to be able to take care of yourself. Daryl doesn't want to drag a partner around who relies on him for everything. What if you got separated? You'd be actually dead. So independent
Daryl seems like he'd like respectful people, even coming from this dude himself. It goes into his other things of respecting boundaries and other people and all that
Speaking of vulnerable, Daryl acts like an animal sometimes, but that doesn't mean he'll let it slide if you hurt vulnerable people/creatures. With the exception of hunting for food or killing walkers (who are...Not USUALLY vulnerable unless stuck anyway)
You also have to have an understanding of boundaries and not feel too hurt if he wants to be alone. Just because he wants to go do his thing by himself doesn't mean he doesn't love you smh
BUT!! I do think it'd be cute if he wants a semi-clingy partner. Someone who would show they're excited when he comes home safe, someone to make it worth coming back to
Also have awareness of what stays inside and what's public. Lowk I don't think he'd be all for PDA, don't be surprised if he accepts your kisses at home but pulls away on the streets
Overall, you have to be independent and hard headed enough to not just survive, but to get into his life as a partner. But you can't be all hard edges, Daryl would probably find value in someone who shows their affection for him. C'mon, he's been through so much he needs that love lol (kind of. I don't imagine him being dependent on you. But absolutely he's protective <3)

Of course I haven't gotten my hands on the comics, but I did find out he grows to be an adult in those. So any headcanons/scenarios with him is going to be a combination of those timelines so he does get to be an adult. I know people like him, BUT if people hate this idea I'll absolutely stop!
Unlike the others who want someone similar, Carl's gonna need someone different than him. Opposites attract and all that.
He's nearly impossible to reason with, though, so it ends up being a game of arguing your very valid point. Sometimes you gotta let him make mistakes to learn, which I feel like he would by adulthood.
As an adult, he keeps that cold survivalist edge, but with someone like you to constantly remind him there's absolutely warmth in being an empathetic person I think it'd lessen quite a bit
Anytime he might try describing happy people as "naive", you really have to stop him with a correction that they're just happy and that doesn't always need to be bad. Optimism is definitely something he needs
Over time he'd hopefully calm down LMAO
For similarities he'd want: I think you'd need to be driven (just not cold), and know how to survive. I think him loving comics still would be adorable so he'd thrive with a nerdy partner
Basically, he needs someone who has the empathetic tilt he lost as he grew up and someone who will give him a second opinion on the world and the people in it. You also have to be tough yourself, able to deal with him if he has a lost temper and to be able to resist an "I told you so" when he makes mistakes

Honestly he's so far gone, he's the one that would want a partner just like him ngl
A violent asshole with a hint of jealousy? Probably his type, especially before late-show events. The more angry you are about his "wives", the more cocky he is, and therefore the more he likes it
Someone who can "match his freak", though that's kind of downplaying it
With Negan trying to be a better guy, I could see him meeting a kind person and hanging out with them to learn
THIS version of Negan, if he's more genuine, would value someone similar to what I wrote for Rick ngl: Empathy, The dedication to others, maybe being family-oriented though idk if I could see Rick purposefully having kids. Probably thinks he'll fuck it up

Idk, I just like the wholesome ideas. I feel like this could be a very cute enemies to lovers story
Overall, depends on the season. In the earlier ones, he wants a violent weirdo, but in later ones he'd get with a sweet person I think. Could be very cute...Potentially...Maybe.
