Date a boy who would literally cross oceans and continents for you
Date a boy who would go to the gold fields of san francisco and bring you back your wieght in gold, or go to africa and bring you a diamond as big as your fist, or slaughter a polar bear and bring you back its head
Date a boy who would go beyond the wall and bring you back your own fallen star
Date Tristian Thorn. Im talking about Tristian Thorn.
Do you know how hard it is to find the right face claim sometimes? I've been trying to figure out who my Dionysus is inspired by for weeks. I feel like this shouldn't be this hard.
He's like a mix between Heath Ledger in 10 Things I Hate About You and Void Stiles Dylan O'Brien and also a little Richard Armitage from Pilgrimage but its NONE OF THOSE.
I can hear how he sounds speaking and laughing and even singing, I know what his tone of voice is, his mannerisms are in my head, I just don't. Know. What. He. Looks. Like.
Saw a random thing, and immediately thought:
you know what would be a cool thing to explore in a fic? ace Erica. cuz she’s always portrayed as this bombshell post-bite, she hypersexualizes herself, she goes ALL OUT. makeup, clothes, hair, nails the WORKS. and maybe, just maybe, it was bc she wanted to know what it felt like to be ‘healthy’, to be well, bc just maybe she assumed all those yrs of wanting relationships and having crushes but not wanting sex was down to the epilepsy meds. meds you have to take on the regular, especially ones that affect your brain or nervous system, are pretty infamous for messing w/libido.
but nope. she’s still ace. she’s just an ace who looks fuckin’ BOMB in a leather jacket and leopard-print heels, red lipstick and smokey eyes, and she wears it bc she LIKES that aesthetic. she likes feeling beautiful, likes feeling SEEN after so many years as a wallflower, and if other people think that means she’s interested in sex, well, that’s their problem. if they wanna make it HER problem, she’s got fangs and claws and also a pack to help her explain the error of their ways.
Um, yes please??
Anybody else extremely upset about AO3/OTW's recent bullshit statement regarding racism in fandoms?
I mean, seriously?? How did anybody think that was an okay response?
And the fact that it isn't posted on most of your accounts shows that you guys dont even think it'll go over well.
@transformativeworks
I really hope those aren't your final statements.
sitting on and touching warm rocks…………. now thats the good stuff…….
Are you….. A reptile ?

“our teeth and ambitions are bared” is a zeugma
and it’s a zeugma where one of the words is literal and one is metaphorical which is the BEST KIND
I didn’t know about zeugmas until just now! That is so awesome, everybody:
zeug·ma ˈzo͞oɡmə/
noun
a figure of speech in which a word applies to two others in different senses (e.g.,John and his license expired last week ) or to two others of which it semantically suits only one (e.g., with weeping eyes and hearts ).
ISN’T THAT AWESOME??
#in english class in high school my teacher had us write our own zeugmas in class#and one guy came up with ‘he fell from her favor… and the window’#i am forever looking for opportunities to use that one
She dropped her dress and inhibitions at the door.
What’s this? My favorite rhetorical device showing up on my dashboard?
IT HAS A NAMEEEE!! OH MY GOD!!!
My high school English teacher always explained it with: “He took his hat and his leave.”
Omg this is great
I thought tumblr took porn off?
This is a community curated list of books, poems, articles and blog posts that explore race, not only in St. Louis, but America as a whole.
it’s even better when it’s like..
Oh.
Oh.
That’s the best shit and you can pry it out of my cold, dead hands
Bonus points if that’s followed by Oh no.
Bonus bonus points if that’s followed by
Oh god no.
I love if the whole time this is going on, someone is laughing their ass off.
Or the entire time all the panic is setting in, the person they love is like "um, you okay? You're staring off into space and your eye is twitching"

“What are you looking at?” Stiles scoffs, feeling himself blush under the werewolf’s intense stare. He knows he can’t hide the way it makes his heart skip a beat.
Derek only tilts his head to the side, a soft smile playing on his lips.
“You.”
Stiles: I wasn’t that drunk.
Scott: You asked Derek if he was single.
Stiles: So?
Scott: You cried when he said no.
Scott: You’ve been married for three years.
Stiles *mumbling to himself*: At least I didn't propose again this time
Isaac *from across the room, not looking up from his book*: You did that, too!
look, i dont care what directors say in behind-the-scenes or interviews, if they dont present that information in the film, they are bad story tellers. like, we had to assume everyone attended your comiccon panel? like? no. you are bad at story telling. if a character appears with zero context, it is confusing. i am not saying spoon feed the audience, but goddamn, there are plot devices that should be there to explain why that character showed up. not just information from your twitter. i shouldnt have to absorb five layers of media for your film to make sense
PREACH
This is why JJ and Chris’ excuse for TROS makes no sense. If I need to read the film’s novelization to fully understand that Rey’s grandfather wasn’t really Palpatine, her father was just a failed clone experiment, then your writing stinks. I understand Star Wars is a dense universe, but the film should still make sense without needing extended material. JJ and Chris took the lazy way out and blamed Rian, when actually they blatantly chose to ignore his episode, and rewrite history.
Hi. So, here is my completely free addition to this discussion, take it however you will but please don’t attack me for this, I’m still a student, and even though I happen to have read and in some cases learned from “the experts” on this topic, I’d rather not get backlash for this. So here I go, oh boy.
Disney, as we all probably know, is way too big. Not mention the organization within the company is super flawed. They pit creators against each other on the same projects and expect the whole thing to come out coherent and pretty and palatable no matter who wrote which part. Which is obviously not how that should work. You have creators who are paid and motivated and in competition with each other working on the same projects. Like Star Wars, for instance.
Star Wars is what is known as transmedia narrative, or transmedia story world. (I won’t go into the nitty gritty of Henry Jenkins and his analysis of the idea, because this is not one of my academic essays, but just know that if you want to look up more about what the heck those are, he is your guy.) A transmedia narrative in the simplest terms is a whole big story world that is meant to be consumed across multiple platforms and media types.
Transmedia narratives are hard to pull off at the best of times in the best of circumstances with all the money in the world, and the internal organization of Disney is not what any creator can actually end up calling the best of circumstances.
For a transmedia narrative to effectively work, all the pillar pieces have to work on their own, AND as part of the overarching super story. That means that if you only watch the films, you are supposed to be able to follow along. There are definitely supposed to be incentives hidden throughout to make you go watch the TV shows, or buy the books, or even go buy that little toy that has the secret message, or join an email list that sends you on a treasure hunt, whatever. BUT THE PILLARS HAVE TO WORK ON THEIR OWN. @friendships-are-masterpieces totally called it.
Star Wars’ pillars are the movies. And Disney is trying so hard to get you to buy more products and consume more of the story world, that they don’t actually remember that. And I don’t blame the directors, or the writers, personally. Because they are working under Disney. With that terrible organizational system. Yes, individual writers and directors and creators are not all equal under The Mouse, as it were. That isn’t what I’m arguing.
Star Wars, and hell, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter (I am not up to date on what that one is called right now, they keep changing it), the Matrix franchise, and other transmedia narratives take a lot of work. They take a lot of detail and time and crafting and yes, collaboration, that most production companies don’t realize or don’t want to deal with. So they throw money at the experts and they force their creators to bow down to shareholders or whatever, and they don’t actually listen to what those creators and experts have to say.
(Sorry that was a lot. And I probably didn’t explain that very well, but I can try to answer more coherently if someone has a question.)
