3/16: breakfast on my grandparents’ street
Hi! I'm going to NTU as an exchange student for 2016/2017. I go to the University of Washington, so I know that the answer may be different, but I had a question about registering that you may still be able to answer. I want to take Public health classes in Chinese while I'm there. Does NTU or the college of Public Health make exchange students reach a certain level on a Chinese test in order to register? Or are there any other restrictions? Thank you~~
Hello! I don’t recall having any issues with wanting to take classes in Chinese. There was a language requirement I fulfilled with my Chinese SAT II score, though I’m pretty sure that requirement was for my home university and not NTU. The only language test I took at NTU was for placement into a Chinese language course. Hope that helps!
(Also yay Public Health! :D The epidemiology classes I took at NTU were so great.)
is there anything we need to knwo about taiwan and uceap and NTU that is not stated on the website before deciding to study abroad?
You can check out my tip sheet and the replies tag for previously asked questions. Just keep in mind the tip sheet is now a year old (!!) so some things may have changed since then.
Since you're a premed graduate, have you decided what you want to be? Nurse, doctor, etc?
Aiming to be a physician, yeah! :)
hi, do you know if its possible to take your final exams earlier than the stated date at NTU? I am planning to study abroad at NTU for 1 year :)
Hey, anon! Yes it is possible – I had many friends who only studied abroad for one semester and had to leave early to make it back in time for classes starting on the quarter schedule. As long as you have a valid excuse and communicate clearly with your professors, you should be fine.

Do you know if we enroll in classes before or after we arrive in Taiwan? And for classes with a required enrollment code, do we just email the professor? :)
Ahh, sorry for the late reply.
If I remember correctly, you enroll in the classes that are first-come-first-served before you get to Taiwan, and then there’s an adjustment period when classes begin. You can try emailing the professor for a code, but in my experience they give those out on the first day of instruction.
where did you live when you were on uceap? how much did it cost
Hey, sorry for the late reply!
I lived in the Shui Yuan Prince House in building C, the co-ed dorm. I paid $180 USD a month for a double ;)

I’m the one with the short hair and the maroon vest!
Yeah, I miss them :( A lot of the year long students just got back so I’m hoping to meet up with people around the area soon!!
