📍 Evia Lifestyle Center, Las Piñas
My holiday vacation’s coming to a close. It’s heartbreaking because this was one of best holidays I’ve had. I spent time with a good amount of food, focused on my passion projects, reconnected with the people I love, met new people, and did new things. I need more time for soul searching 😫

I will be worthy of a DLSR/film camera someday!

“Balang araw, iluluwa rin ang buwan
Babalik ang liwanag ng nakaraan”
Too much love is always bad. Atleast that’s what my mother kept reminding me. She always says that the amount of love I’d give would be twice the amount of pain I’d feel. She says i shouldn’t give it away too freely and I never understood. I can’t understand why people can’t love with all their hearts, why people can’t wear their hearts on their sleeves or why people always try to suppress what they feel. i really can’t understand why people choose to play with the fire of uncertainty rather than just say how they truly feel. It’s really sad that people can’t love freely, that most people aren’t given the chance to truly love and be loved because of how our society twisted the way love works. I hate how love became so feeble, how most people choose to replace the person they claim to love rather than face a difficult and bumpy phase. I hate how they are almost turning love into something meaningless, how most people utter love like a new form of required greeting. They turned love into something toxic, they made it seem like not having love means you aren’t pretty or good enough and thus everyone claims to love for the sake of fitting in, of somehow being complete. Love has become feeble, and it’s feebleness are breaking hearts everywhere. It’s really sad. I can’t understand why people made love so complicamted and then wonder why they feel so miserable.
📍 Jess & Pat’s
I have developed a profound love for small gigs. Spoken word artists, musicians, and audiences like me take time to sit and savour the nightlife atmosphere in a cafe/bar for a singular desire: to start somewhere. These artists share their little crafts in hopes of the world giving a listen to their clamor, feeding our wandering souls, who’ve been braving every day despite a certain emptiness or lack thereof. Their artistry unpacks a certain vulnerability of emotions that I don’t usually hear from mainstream acts (still, props to them). Please support underground (I’m not sure if this is how we’re supposed to call them) acts. They have something beautiful to contribute to the world. You’ll be amazed by their magic, I promise. ✨
📍 Eton Centris with Nomo, since I am not yet financially and artistically capable of owning a film camera 🎞
BRUH Wong Kar-Wai is one of the smartest directors out there.
In the Mood For Love (2000)
More than Julio braving the streets of Manila to find his love, Ligaya, Maynila: Sa mga Kuko ng Liwanag (1975) provides a lens to the condensed, filthy, and realistic face of the Philippines’ capital. Brocka’s crafted every scene as a social commentary in the dialogues among the characters. Considering this was filmed in the Martial Law years, this film is a bold statement against tyranny. Despite the democratic society we live in today, it’s funny how Maynila strikes a painful chord in our status quo.
11/10 would recommend, our nation is in deep pain and this film articulates exactly this.

friendly reminder to write stories for you. you explain your idea to a friend and they're not over the moon about it?? you'd really like to write it just because it'll be fun and someone tells you not to?? you wanna use a concept you know is important to you right now and could really help you cope and they tell you that this "trope" has been overdone??? FUCK IT. write that stuff. do what's best for you. do what you want to. your personal insecurities are more than tropes. what you need to read will never be overdone. if someone doesn't like your idea, it doesn't matter, you like it. you might be the creator but that doesn't mean you can't be the audience and it certainly doesn't mean you can be kept from creating if that's gonna help you heal
