this is a roleplay blog for cloud strife ❨ final fantasy vii ❩. portrayal is based off of my observations of his character as well as headcanons to further his development. please read rules before following this blog is a sideblog to @solivgnt.

Aerith and Cloud?

𝓼𝓮𝓷𝓭 𝓶𝓮 𝓪 𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓹 & 𝓲’𝓵𝓵 𝓽𝓮𝓵𝓵 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝔀𝓱𝓸 . . .

made the first move: in a playful way their chemistry has always been a push and pull , and the first move that initiated how they felt was naught more than a teasing game . aerith enjoyed making things a bet / game / or an i.o.u in exchange for services she wasn’t exactly going to pay him in gil for . there was the first date for example . the first kiss however , is still at debate . aerith certainly thinks she made the first move , but cloud’s opinion differs on how that event went . the big spoon: these roles are often interchangeable , as aerith prefers laying / sleeping on her back or her stomach . she will more frequently choose to sleep on her stomach and lay or sprawl a portion of herself atop cloud . usually she’s laying on his chest , finding his heartbeat soothing and something to help lull her to sleep . the little spoon: it might not be often , but cloud will tend to lay across aerith’s stomach or lap . when she occasionally ends up on her back , cloud prefers these areas . he has learned through experience that laying on her this way , aerith will tiredly play with his hair until he or either of them fall asleep .  the cuddler: this was a feet for both of them , as neither of them are particularly cuddlers , or rather there hasn’t been the right person . cloud is certainly more touched starved than aerith , so when the experience happened for the first time , the comfort she provided & the warmth of her closeness has been a craving ever since .   cries during movies: due to the traumatic events they have been through , cloud & aerith lean more toward comedy movies ( though they might not be cloud’s preferred genre ) , they enjoy smiling and laughing together for movie night . action movies tend to be a close second .  more affectionate: this at times may often reflect on their mood , but for the most part they share being equally affectionate with one another . it may be initiated at first by aerith on some occasions , but once he is awakened to it , cloud will reciprocate . their favorite non-sexual activity: games , whether they be gold saucer games / arcade / phone app games / or console , just playing games together in general . ( look , i just love the idea they are a cute gamer couple ) . sometimes it’s a competition to see who can demolish the other in top score & one of them bragging about it to the other until it just goes back and forth . more nervous to meet the parents: the first time had been a little awkward , sure . after making a deal he wouldn’t show up again , but actually showing up again , kinda set in those nerve vibes . elmyra is a bit stern , though caring and protective of aerith . there are certainly a mixure of feelings when it comes to having face elmyra , but cloud tries his best to work on a more comfortable relationship with elmyra .   more protective/jealous: they both have their reasons and for the most part , they are equally protective though cloud maybe more outwardly convincing . there is no doubt cloud is protective of aerith , wanting to ensure her safety and help shield her from shinra . aerith is aware cloud is not well and this instills a lot of concern . she wants to help him , in whatever way she can whilst also try and protect him from the grip sephiroth has on him .   sneaks into the shower with the other in the mornings: since aerith is not a morning person , and only makes special occasions for early wake up , she doesn’t join cloud in his morning routines . though , it does not stop the sneaking back into bed , if cloud is feeling brave enough to wake aerith with some not so subtly cuddling ( his damp hair usually earning him a half awake glare when it drips on her ) . initiates sexy times the most: aerith tends to be one who initiates often , though the roles are exchanged here and there . though aerith may be more forward , she is mostly subtle , in a way that coaxes cloud out of his shell to take initiative . there are times where they mutually express their desire to be intimate together . fuck or make love: it’s love & it is very soft . they are very caring and gentle with each other , it is always about comfort & expressing how much the other means to them . providing each other with the love , attention and appreciation they crave . behind the wheel more often during road trips: cloud , he is typically the pilot no matter their mode of transportation . though , trips by chocobo are usually best for both of them , due to cloud’s motion sickness & aerith’s inability to operate most vehicles .  gives the silent treatment when they’re mad at each other: both of them are very good with giving silent treatment . if they’re both mad at each other at the same time , it’s doubly quiet . the good thing , is they’re rarely this upset at each other and often talk out their problem or issue if able . otherwise , cloud may tend to cave in when aerith is offering the silent treatment ( it would mean she is genuinely upset about something , since it is not oft’ her behavior ) .   reaches for the other’s hand first: it is a subconscious action for either of them most of the time . it is a reassurance that one of them is close by and safe , a gesture that offers them the security the other is soundly near .  whispers inappropriate things in the other’s ear at inappropriate times: she is a terrible tease , aerith purposely picks the worst moments to whisper things into cloud’s ear . this often results in the bashful glow ‘pon his face .  comes up with cheesy pick-up lines: aerith tends to come up with terrible ones ( on purpose ) & oft’ a play on his name . there have even been times aerith has successfully coaxed cloud into saying one or two cheesy lines as well . they share a good chuckle together over those silly moments .

@fcragil​ said : perhaps she is self reflecting. a pepper of kisses to stir him awake, she softly chimes a ‘happy birthday’. what could be a better gift than spending time together? the memorable moments he had already given her, she wanted to return. a day for him, doing all the things he likes to do. this time, she is the one tagging along. “what’s the first thing the birthday boy would like to do today?” she peaks with curiosity, doe-eyes looking to him eagerly.

 he’s  only  ever  slept  soundly  next  to  her.  his  dreams  even  felt  pleasant,  though  he  struggled  to  remember  what  it  was  that  he  dreamt—that  was  better  than  remembering  the  nightmares.  the  soft  pecks  crossed  his  face  wake  him  with  a  smile  that  only  continues  to  grow  when  he  sees  her  face.  ❝  can’t  i  just  lay  in  bed  all  day?  ❞  he  said,  his  tone  dragged  on  into  whine  as  he  sat  up  just  enough  to  bury  his  head  in  her  lap,  

❝  as  long  as  we’re  together…  my  day  is  going  to  be  the  best  day…  ❞  his  voice  partially  muffled,  he  pulled  himself  a  way  and  properly  sat  up  to  face  her.  he  took  her  hands  into  his  own,  ❝  just  waking  up  to  your  face  is  the  best  gift  i  could  ask  for…  ❞  a  slight  squeeze  to  her  hands  in  his  own  before  he  brings  them  close  to  his  mouth  to  kiss  them.  a  smirk  played  a  crossed  his  mouth  as  he  lowered  them  back  down,  ❝  i  think  i  might  have  fallen  in  love  with  you.  ❞

 his  birthday  wasn’t  something  well  known—nor  expected  to  be  celebrated,  so  he  remained  unwary  of  what  was  to  come  next.  the  surprise  embrace  caused  his  eyes  to  widen  and  a  grimace  to  appear  on  his  features—it  felt  more  like  an  attack.  his  legs  lifting  from  the  ground  he  struggled  to  break  free.  his  whole  body  seemed  to  relax  after  hearing  the  sound  of  a  familiar  voice.  a  sigh  released  as  soon  as  his  feet  felt  the  solid  ground,  he  turned  to  face  barret

 a  small  smile  appeared  without  his  consent—he  couldn’t  help  it…  the  feeling  of  being  remembered  and  shown  appreciation  for  his  mere  existence  caused  something  to  stir  inside  his  chest.  like  he  was  becoming  too  full  of  emotions  that  he  might  burst.  he  allowed  his  smile  to  grow  wider  and  his  eyes  softened  when  he  looked  to  his  comrade,  ❝  thanks,  barret.  ❞

@highgear​​ said : he never felt nervous before, but there was a pull in his stomach at the mere thought of offering up his baked good: a singular cupcake in the shape of a cloud. he holds it out in his hands, standing straight in front of cloud. ❛ i made you this. ❜ he smiles at him, his cheeks a light red. ❛ happy birthday, cloud. ❜

 clouds  eyes  widen  and  soften  at  the  gesture.  he  can’t  resist  the  tug  of  a  smile  that  curves  his  mouth  up  slightly,  noticeable  enough  to  not  go  unseen.  he  reached  out  and  took  the  gift  from  roche,  though  it  seemed  that  was  as  far  as  he  got  in  his  mind  in  terms  of  gestures.  he  lowered  his  eyes  to  the  ground,  now  feeling  quite  bashful.  

 ❝  …i  ❞  the  wrong  words  start  to  stagger  through  his  mouth  and  his  embarrassment  rises,  but  he  knows  roche  is  having  just  as  hard  a  time  as  he  is.  he  exhaled  deeply,  setting  the  cupcake  aside—someplace  safe,  a  part  of  him  wanted  to  cherish  it  forever,  but  he  knew  it  would  rot  away  like  every  good  thing  he  had  ever  come  to  know.  he  closed  the  space  between  the  two  of  them  and  lifted  himself  on  the  tips  of  his  toes,  his  gloved  hand  rested  on  roche’s  cheek  as  he  tilted  the  taller  male’s  head  closer  to  his  lips,  planting  a  light  kiss  on  his  cheek.  ❝    thank  you  for  remembering…  ❞  he  whispered  softly  in  his  ear  before  lowering  himself  back  down.  the  red  in  his  cheeks  had  never  left,  neither  did  the  smile  that  grew  on  his  face.  he  hoped  that  roche  could  see  just  how  happy  he  made  him.

 there  had  been  a  longstanding  silence,  one  that  he  did  not  address.  the  silence  made  him  uneasy  in  ways  he’s  never  felt.  there  was  always  more  to  her  then  she  allowed  and  𝐡𝐞  𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝  𝐧𝐨𝐭  𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝  𝐨𝐧  𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐡𝐞  𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭.  he  was  a  mystery  himself,  and  couldn’t  face  his  past.  his  head  ached  with  blurry  thoughts  of  a  once  happy  town  and  past  he  chose  to  push  aside  for  the  pain  became  unbearable.  his  eyes  wander  over  her,  searching  for  something  to  echo  through  the  silence,  breaking  the  soundless  air  like  shattering  glass.  her  voice  brings  the  relief  he  needs  at  this  moment.  somehow  even  𝐢𝐧  𝐡𝐞𝐫  𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭  𝐬𝐮𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠,  𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐝  𝐭𝐨  𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭  𝐡𝐢𝐦.  her  words  expressed  like  an  unsolved  puzzle,  he  doesn’t  know  what  to  make  of  them,  but  he  realizes  them  for  what  they  are…  a  confession.  his  eyes  fall  to  her  feet  as  he  slows  his  pace  and  trails  behind  her.  

❝  i  don’t  think  you  have  to  know…  ❞  his  words  are  like  a  beckon  to  her,  from  behind,  he  stands  still  until  she  turns  on  her  heel  and  her  eyes  are  on  him. 𝐡𝐞  𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐲  𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐝  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝  𝐭𝐨  𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭  𝐡𝐞𝐫  𝐠𝐚𝐳𝐞,  𝐡𝐞𝐫  𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬…  𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲  𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞  𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭  𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐡𝐨𝐰.  was  this  expression  for  him  or  the  words  he  allowed  to  slip  from  his  lips?  ❝  i  just  mean  that…  it’s  okay  if  you  don’t  know…  ❞  cloud  had  never  felt  strong,  even  though  his  weakness  slipped  through  his  words  and  coated  them  like  a  fragile  armor,  but  he  wanted  her  to  see  him,  ❝  but…  i  want  you  to  know  that  i’m  here.  ❞  his  eyes  fill  with  a  determination  that  𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬  𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧  𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐞  𝐚𝐧𝐝  𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.  if  she  were  to  convey  her  soul  to  him  he  would  need  to  be  ready  for  it—ready  for  her.

 ❝  no...  i  can’t  say  i’ve  had  many  close  friends.  ❞  he  hesitates  to  speak,  𝐧𝐨𝐭  𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐭𝐨  𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞  𝐭𝐨𝐨  𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡  𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭  𝐡𝐢𝐦𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟.  his  eyes  glimpse  at  his  companion  for  reassurance  that  he  hadn’t  said  anything  redundant.

his query rings softly like an echo ; for some reason it spur ons the simper to don her lips .     her nonverbal response is demure , nostalgia blossoms those topside attempts of her youth .     topside was the only way , but through the smog and polluted air … it was always difficult .     it is different out here because the air is clear , there are no city lights or reactors that bask the night in some artificial glow .     this was nature simply in its natural form .     they could stand on the grass if they want to , gaia is breathing with a wind that can lick against her skin when it blows and tousle auburn tress .     she yearned for this .

it just wasn’t the same , it was better .     the stars are incredible , just like he described … beautiful .

‘     yeah …     ‘     her sweet cadence whispers–     and in a blink or two , doe eyes gradually pull away from sky .     she scuffs her boot against the cobblestone path , her gaze absently observes .     ‘     it is … i have you to thank for that .     ‘     her foot lazily comes to stop , she doesn’t look at him directly yet–     though her chin tucks to a shoulder , she is reserved to those mako eyes at first .     lax digits tense up a bit , furling into slightly firm fists .     nervousness consumes her a little , her chest tingles whilst she searches for the words sitting on the tip of her tongue .

verdant hues begin to shift , timidly affixed to her peripheral vision .     then , doe eyes soften at the sight of his gaze , her body shifting to face him whilst lithe arms fold her balled up hands across her waist .

‘     cloud , i …     ‘     irises flicker , an indication she struggles for a moment .     bravado or confidence wanes for her to open up , but she takes a small step closer .     unsure why though it does make her feel safer .     ‘     there is a lot i want to tell you … but i–     ‘…     ‘     i need a little more time …‘

 as  soon  as  her  voice  rings  out  into  the  night  air,  his  eyes  find  their  way  back  to  her,  breaking  away  from  the  stars.  𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞  𝐰𝐚𝐬  𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝  𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐫  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧  𝐡𝐞𝐫  𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭,  he  knew  this  in  the  short  time  he’d  spent  with  her.  his  arms  fold  crossed  his  chest—not  to  create  distance,  but  to  busy  his  hands  that  longed  for  a  place  to  be.  the  mention  of  himself  leaves  him  perplexed,  how  was  he  to  thank  for  her  liberation  from  the  metal  sky?  he  lowered  his  head  which  he  shakes  from  disapproval,  ❝  i  didn’t  do  anything...  ❞  he  admits,  letting  his  hands  fall  to  his  side  and  his  eyes  to  the  ground.  𝐚𝐭  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥  𝐨𝐟  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞,  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝  𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐲  𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬  and  eyes  firmly  land  on  her—he  waits  desperately  for  her  next  words,  not  knowing  they  would  not  be  for  him.  he  lowers  his  head  to  the  ground  once  again.  𝐬𝐡𝐞  𝐢𝐬  𝐚𝐧  𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐦𝐚—𝐚  𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞  𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐝  𝐭𝐨  𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞,  but  asking  would  be  prying  into  the  soul  she  kept  solely  for  herself.  there  was  a  guard  within  himself  that  kept  people  at  arms  length—and  for  once,  he  wanted  someone  to  break  through  and  let  him  𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐞  𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭  𝐬𝐨  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐡𝐞  𝐦𝐚𝐲  𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞  𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨  𝐡𝐞𝐫  𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝—her  mind.  he  hesitates  to  open  his  mouth  to  speak  again,  the  fear  of  using  the  false  words  to  depict  his  feelings  crept  inside  and  found  a  home  where  it  didn’t  belong.  for  the  sake  of  himself  and  unintentionally  hurting  her,  he  doesn’t  say  anything.  he  nods  again,  slowly,  eyes  still  at  the  ground.  without  warning,  his  mouth  speaks,  

❝  take  all  the  time  you  need.  ❞  𝐚  𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫  𝐡𝐞  𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐭  𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞  𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝,  he  raised  his  eyes  to  her,  shocked  by  his  own  actions.  unintentionally,  he  caters  to  her  feelings,  though  yearning  to  break  through  her  walls  and  see  her  for  who  she  is—he  stays  those  desires.  𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬  𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦  𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤  𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞  𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲  𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠  𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐨𝐰𝐧  𝐰𝐚𝐥𝐥.

 how  were  rough  hands  supposed  to  seize  something  so  delicate  without  it  breaking?  cloud  wonder  what  he  would  have  to  provide  𝐟𝐨𝐫  𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧  𝐟𝐨𝐫  𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐬𝐨  𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬…  was  he  meant  to  offer  his  own  in  return?  love  was  a  foreign  entity  in  his  mind  when  it  flowed  past  the  borders  of  platonic.  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐭𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐭  𝐢𝐧  𝐡𝐢𝐬  𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭  had  merely  revealed  when  roche  caught  him  staring  suddenly  and  return  his  gaze  with  a  radiant  smile  that  broke  through  him,  causing  his  heart  skip  several  beats.  those  feelings  never  came  with  a  label  attached—he  didn’t  know  how  to  𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞  𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭  𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐞  𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧  𝐡𝐢𝐦.  yet  the  notion  of  losing  roche…  by  death  or  his  loss  of  interest  made  him  feel  a  twinge  in  the  pit  of  his  stomach  that  twisted  like  a  blade.  what  was  this  pain?  cloud  lowers  his  eyes  to  the  ground,  his  gaze  was  𝐧𝐨𝐭  𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲  𝐭𝐨  𝐛𝐞  𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧  𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞  𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐬𝐨  𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞,  

❝  i…  ❞  he  stuttered,  words  caught  just  on  the  tip  of  his  tongue  where  he  hesitated  to  allow  them  to  leave,  ❝  can  you  trust  me  with  it?  ❞  he  raises  his  stare  up  towards  roche.  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐨𝐟  𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐡𝐢𝐝  𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝  𝐛𝐥𝐮𝐞  𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐨  𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬  wanting  for  confirmation  more  than  anything.  had  he  earned  the  right  to  hold  roche’s  heart?

a blanket of snow covers the valleys and peaks , small population existing within the frigid temperatures of polar region . wildlife thrives within the desolate fields of arctic climate extending to the steep rocky terrain of the great glacier . a maze of wilderness and trails , it can be a dangerous journey for passage .

cloud  brought  his  bike  to  a  halt,  as  the  sky  opened  for  the  timefall,  his  hood  reacted  after  then  he  could,  𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠  𝐡𝐢𝐦  𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧-𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞  𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.  he  surveyed  the  area  for  a  place  to  take  shelter  until  the  storm  passed.  his  eyes  narrowed  in  on  a  cave  not  too  far  from  his  position.  he  twisted  the  throttle  of  his  bike  and  sped  towards  the  cave.  it  took  him  𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲  𝐧𝐨  𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞  𝐭𝐨  𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡  𝐭𝐡𝐞  𝐜𝐚𝐯𝐞,  he  was  quick  to  move  himself  and  his  bike  inside  to  shelter  it  from  the  time-accelerating  rain.  𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝  𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐝  𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐥𝐲  as  he  removed  the  cargo  from  his  shoulders.  

❝  hope  this  wasn’t  urgent…  ❞  another  exhale,  followed  by  a  chill  that  went  up  his  spine.  cloud  immediately  holds  his  breath  as  the  𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞,  𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐰𝐲  𝐟𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬  show  themselves  outside  of  the  cave.  he  slowly  backs  in  deeper  inside  of  the  cave,  holding  his  breath  as  he  moved.  damn  bts.   /   @hepermeates​​ ♡
