is it weird that i want to write about old teen drama? probably. still, give me:

nick and miley breaking up and miley going on the tour bus and writing "7 things" + dying her hair black

the back-and-forth niley vs nelena drama

miley making a video with mandy mocking demi and -- most of all -- selena

selena getting closer to taylor and her as demi drifted apart

demi noticing and taking it out on taylor with "ask taylor"

demi and taylor being friends at certain points, like when they hung out when taylor was on the x factor us during the red era and when they talked on facetime with selena

demi and selena reconnecting again in 2013, allegedly because they were both using at that point

demi and selena reconnecting after demi got out of rehab and seeming as close as they were before they started drifting apart

demi and miley becoming friends and demi being defensive of miley

selena and justin breaking up and making up all the time around 2012-2014, particularly when they were at the hard rock hotel in 2014 because i remember hearing about it on the radio and being excited. also give me justin getting into fights with the paparazzi and rumors of her leaving his trailer (her trailer?) smelling of weed, which was the most salacious thing she could do apparently

i really miss selena's instagram circa 2014 so i'd love to do sort of a mini band rp where we post in character if anyone's interested. i also wouldn't mind writing about demi circa unbroken era and demi era (2011-2014) and probably other people.

a concept: a celebrity couple have been broken up for a while. fans still associate them with each other (think jelena, janiston, even haylor for a while). muse a moved on fairly quickly, starting to date again after a few months and has had a few relationships since then. muse b had a harder time moving on, staying single for at least a year because they believed they were soulmates. since they stayed single, both fans and the media had a hard time letting go of the relationship too, turning everything muse b does into a subliminal message for muse a. the closest muse b gets to moving on is becoming fwb with muse c. muse b thinks pretty lowly of muse c given their reputation as a fuckboy (there is no gender neutral term for this srry).

this is where the possibilities are endless. ( more under the cut 🍓 )

after a while, muse b grows fond of muse c's company and they start dating. maybe muse a, finally getting a taste of their own medicine in seeing muse b move on, pleads for muse b to give it another shot. muse b is conflicted. that's all they've been waiting to hear for the last year (or more). but why now? why fuck with their head when it's taken them so long to start to get over them?

or maybe it's not a declaration of love but silent pleas in longing stares. they see each other at the bar at award shows and at the same parties. muse c can't help but feel a little jealous and like they don't mean as much to muse b. muse b tries to reassure them, but they're still figuring out their own feelings. things with them are too good to throw it away. with muse a, muse b put them on a pedestal. that's why they were so devasted when they broke up. things are more even-keeled with muse c. maybe not as passionate and earth-shattering, but it's a healthier kind of love. they feel like they can be themselves and talk openly rather than having to try to live up to what they thought muse a wanted.

muse c lives up their reputation by cheating on muse b. muse b looks stupid because everyone said it would happen.

or maybe muse b and muse c are just pretending to date so people finally stop talking about muse a. people already assume they're dating every time they're pictured together anyway. denying it hasn't made it go away, so they might as well go with it. if it makes both of their exes jealous, that's just a bonus.

or maybe muse b is in their slut era (complimentary) and muse c is one of the many people they're pictured with. enter muse d, muse e, etc. happy, carefree vibes.

dating as an entertainer was difficult. regular people with office jobs rarely understood why their boyfriend was leaving the country for months at a time. suddenly appearing in articles like 'who is ross lynch dating?' with an analysis of every instagram post they've ever made scared off the people we were in it for the right reasons. in the long run, it was easier to date inside his own bubble. that came with its own challenges, however. people loved to pry. both parties having their own press conferences only made it easier. ross was lucky enough that he wasn't tabloid famous. paparazzi rarely cared to follow him down the street. that's if they even recognized him at all. that didn't stop fans from holding their phone up at an unnatural angle, trying to be discreet as they filmed him. he noticed. given the way it made him crawl out of his skin, he had developed a sixth sense for it. this time, the camera flashes on him were voluntary. a faint smile disappeared and reappeared every time he spotted one. ross would lay a hand on her back and pose. the light had yet to reach his eyes. he knew better than to make a scene in public, so he swallowed his feelings for the night, instead choosing to chase them away with a drink. "i'm good!" he reassured in his usual softspoken voice. underneath was a quiet rage. as supportive as he wanted to be, he was a d-lister; a disney has-been who never quite skyrocketed into the mainstream like his predecessors. anyone he was seen linking arms with was bound to be more successful than him, his date tonight included. he heard it in the way photogs screamed her name to get her to face them. that on its own wasn't so emasculating that he couldn't get over it. what he couldn't shake off were the rumors swirling around her and some other bigger star. the press was foaming at the mouth to write headlines about them being in the same building tonight. half of her tagged posts on instagram were fans making manips and edits of her and that guy. the son of a bitch had the nerve to come up to them and make small talk with her, knowing cameras were snapping every millisecond they made eye contact. ross mostly stood there, iced out, only being greeted by the guy on his way out. once he was out of earshot and the vultures had moved on, ross couldn't help the passive aggression oozing out of him. "he seemed nice. very friendly." his lips pulled into a tight smile while his brows spiked up, a pointed look. realistically, that guy probably wasn't flirting with her in front of her boyfriend. even if he had been, that wasn't her fault. still, someone had to answer for the shame of not being the elligible bachelor the world had hand selected for her. he wasn't outright accusing her, just... commentating.
