This is Sandy Lee- she is the International Programme Manager at Hong Kong Baptist University. Absolutely adore her style and personality. They go hand in hand.  I must also admit and apologise in this post for the lack of posts. My blog violentfloral.tumblr.com may have better updates to my time here in Hong Kong as it's linked to my Instagram (http://instagram.com/michaela_swan). I've been finding it really difficult to spend time on my blogs and write about my time being here. So so busy. Went to Kuching, Malaysia for 5 days earlier in the month for a Beading Conference, which got me really inspired for my wearables project.  I'm thoroughly enjoying myself here in HK but finding it a bit difficult finding what I've been referring to as "middle ground" in all aspects, socialising (people), environment, food and entertainment. I've also been finding it difficult to find street style, must be looking in the wrong areas ;)  Anyways for anyone out there having a read, I look forward to sharing my adventures with you verbally over a couple of drinks at Christmas/New Year. In the mean time, I hope to keep you somewhat posted.

What's it like as an Australian living in HK? How different are the two cultures? Do you think culture influences the fashion of each country? If so, how?

So far so good, I must admit my comfort is only achieved by knowing a few Australian’s at uni, including one of my lecturers. Whom was rocking Triple J as I entered the studio. So far the main differences are pretty obvious ones including language, population vs space and food. Although the food is cheap, it is very bland in comparison to Australian food, however they do not waste- they cook the whole chicken, including the feet (which is actually seen as a reward).P.s. this question is worded a lot like an essay question- (hilarious). For sure there are cultural influences on fashion in each country, perhaps I have not been here long enough yet to judge though. :)

Welcome to my Journey

Welcome to my new Hong Kong blog hopefully this will mainly be street style, but obviously it will include progression of my practice and lifestyle along the way.  At Hong Kong Baptist University I'll be studying Wearable Art, Glass Casting, Arts of Asia as well as a 4th subject to be confirmed. I recently went on a 4 week holiday to mainland China and saw some amazing historical sites. I also witnessed very interesting fashion, which has inspired me to create a new blog including my adventures but mainly focusing on street style in Hong Kong.  I thought it'd be best to first up share two of my favourite sneaky street style shots in China, both in Beijing at the Forbidden City. I didn't have the intention to start up a blog as that stage, (and it was going to prove to be a task to ask them for a photo when I didn't speak Mandarin).
