Hi I'm asexual but I always thought that maybe I might not be because I can love and think about fictional characters in a sexual way, but Only fictional characters. But I saw one of you're posts that said the same thing and I was wondering are you the same way. Because some people might not see me as actually asexual because of that but I really wanted to know about how you feel about it. Thank you.💙
hi I'm sorry I saw this so late.
if you don't feel attracted to "real" people you are valid on the aroace spectrum no matter what <3
I made that post a few years ago and my perception of sexuality has since evolved but here's an example: I have a few friends that are lesbians but still say they wouldn't mind being with [insert fictional male character here] . it doesn't mean they are any less of a lesbian! it's the same with you and the ace spectrum! :D
also asexuality comes in different forms. many asexuals DO have sex! Asexuality only means lack of sexual attraction, not sexual drive (although for some people it does mean lack of both). your attraction towards fictional characters is just a presence of sexual drive (simply put, you don't hate the thought of sex, you just don't feel attracted to anyone enough (I hope I'm right?))
also don't give a crap about what other people say! if realistically speaking you can't imagine yourself ever feeling sexual attraction towards the cute neighbour next door, you do not have to doubt yourself even one bit! it's what makes YOU feel comfortable
@gabriella-aesthetic
(ps: I made this post public since I thought it would help some other people who feel this way but since you're off anon please let me know if you want me to delete)
