Something nobody prepares you for is that the better you get at writing the harder it becomes. beginners write freely because they don't know enough to know what's wrong. then you learn. and suddenly you can see every single flaw in real time as you're making it and you have to write anyway while your own brain is in the corner going "that's a weak verb. that transition is lazy. you've used that word three times." getting good at this is mostly just getting better at ignoring yourself.

I donno, maybe accepting that people in the past had different ideas about beauty and modesty and different styles and body types they found attractive is a low stakes way to become more accepting of the fact that different cultures have different ideas about beauty or something and that might be a good reason to just show the ridiculous hairstyles and silhouettes so we can stop being so self-centred and sure that there is only one way to be beautiful?

it also gives people far more options for ways in which they might want to express themselves beyond what shops and modern designers and fast fashion tell them they're Allowed to have, and I think that's huge

put knowledge of historical fashion in people's hands and see what they create. see how many might blossom and grow into themselves in ways they can't with modern styles (since they never even realized what they were missing)

I just love that this very video is an accumulation of thousands of years worth of art made by people who have never met each other. The concept of this video was so completely unfathomable to every single artist who made the sculptures and yet they’ve all put something toward the creation of it.
