10 Years Ago. May 19th, 2009. Glee aired it’s Pilot episode.
Glee was the first tv show I had seen in over a decade that allowed for the existence of hope. As an old person it reminded me of how much my high school experience, miserable as it was, also had as a fundamental fact of life the idea of anything being possible. The subsequent years broke me of that notion, and that made the show such an odd, conflicting roller coaster of emotions, but overall it had so much going for it.
