An example of how to get out of a bad RP
First off, do we even follow the calander anymore? Yes? No? Oh who cares! Moving on, now.
So, my sister made a Dave Strider account today and not more THIRTY MINUTES after she set it up a Bro Strider RPer sent her a random starter. Now, normally I would recommend such a daring action buuuuut, since this guy was so OOC. . . yeah. Let me show you the RP. (I just copied it from her page and removed parts of the names, I didn't feel like taking a screen cap.)
Broderick
Hey.
Dave
Sup?
Broderick
*clings to his older brother* Daaveee... I dont feel good...
Dave
-He made a disgruntled face, and pulled away slightly from the other- what am I supposed to do about it?
Broderick
Make it better.
*his face is flushed with a fever*
Dave
I don't even know what's wrong, how the hell am I supposed to make it better?
Broderick
I-i dont know... You can fix anything though...
Any self respecting Bro roleplayer should never act so, so, so, "desu desu kawaii" in a roleplay. Especially when RPing with another Strider. The Striders are tough manly men, not stuttering whiny babies. I am so, so proud of my sister for her reaction.
Dave
Damn straight I can. -He sighed and looked the other up and down, finally pressing the backside of his hand to the other's forehead- . . . damn.
Broderick
*he looked up at him with wide eyes* Hm?
w-what is it?
Dave
-He frowned, and then pointed in the other direction- Bed, now, I guess I'll get you some blankets, or some shit like that.
Broderick
*he let go of his brother, and stumbled to his bedroom, curling up on the bed
Dave
-Dave, still frowning tried to remember where things even were. This was going to be tough. He searched the cabinents in the various rooms, until finally finding some blankets in the closet of his own room.- This is juuuust great. -He remarked to himself before taking several of them to where his brother lay, placing them on top of him, from head-to-toe-
Broderick
*He was shivering even under the blankets, and grabbed his brothers hand* S'too cold *he mumbled. it was warm that day... even for texas*
Dave
Sh, it'll take a while for your body temperature to rise, it'll be fine in a few minutes. -He pulled his hand away- You hungry?
It was about this time that she called me over and said, "SISSY!!! This Bro is so OOC. I just want to get out of this." with which I replied, "Have your character say he has to go to work. Or some shit like that. . ."
Yeah, I'm classy like that.
Broderick
*he shook his head* n-no...
Dave
Thirsty?
-He pulled out his cellphone, to check the time-
Broderick
He shook his head again*
Dave
Well, if you need anything, better ask now, 'cause I gotta go soon, really soon.
Broderick
Huh?
W-what? Why?!
Dave
Whoa, hold your horses, I got a fuckin' job I gotta keep.
Broderick
*he shook his head frantically*
Please dont go! you can take one day off, right?
Dave
Hey, listen here, No job equals no money, equals no apartment. Got it? Good.
Broderick
...
Dave
-He checked his phone once again- Good, 'cause I gotta go, li'l dude, don't die, or fuck up like that while I'm gone, got it?
Broderick
*he nodded, hiding under his blankets again*
Dave
Cool, now I'mma be goin' now. -He patted where he assumed his brother's head was, and then was off, closing the door behind himself-
Broderick
*he curled up, starting to cry*
Yes, he started crying. This is so OOC it's not even funny. Or maybe it is. Anyway, the lesson here is:
1) When you in a RP you don't like, find a way to reasonably end the RP. Things such as going off screen, sleeping, dying, etc. are all reasonable ways of leaving. After all it's better than just not responding.
2) Don't be OOC. Just, don't. That only works if you're RPing crack or something like that, in which case you should tell your RP partner(s).
3) For heavens sake, most people don't like RPing illness or anything like that, check to see if it's okay with your RP partner before trying it.
4) Do. Not. Cry. EVER. That is just so....ERGHRRRRRR!!!! I can't stand it when someone pulls that move in a RP! Okay, I understand if your character is REALLY sad or upset. But someone leaving the room? Really?! I don't care if your sick, don't do it.
5) After escaping from a roleplay that you can't stand, you might want to block the RPer so that you never have to go through that madness again. It's better than having them randomly sending you starters for awful RPs. Especially if they won't listen to you when you tell them that.
I think that's it folks,
