summery: Arlow has a nightmare, stress taking them over before they have to leave on their quest.
It was dark, everything was dark. Stars speckling the void like static on a television screen. The silence ringing in their ears as they stared up at it, ringing like the static of the stars. Black pillars rose around them, filling their peripherals as they lay on a bumpy, uncomfortable floor. A figure of the darkness joining their view, soon three.
Pain
Burning white-hot pain
Unfathomable pain rings through their entire being, concentrated at their stomach, they scream. Their scream comes unheard amongst the static that screamed louder. A loud choir of static shushing their screams like a loving mother filled with malice and hatred. It wouldnât stop, they felt like they were dying, they didnât want to die. They couldnât die, it wasnt their place to die. It wasnt their end.
Suddenly they were shaken awake, blinking their auburn eyes open to stare at the ceiling of their bedroom. They could hear their name being called through the sounds of their laboured breathing. Catching it like theyâd been running for miles non-stop.
Gemma came into view, a worried look plastered on her face as she looked down at them. The view of their beautiful wife only made them smile, however. Moving to sit up and pull her into an embrace
âAre you okay? You were thrashing in your sleep. I was so worriedâ she spoke softly, returning the embrace and nuzzling her face into her partnerâs shoulder.
âIm fine, just a nightmare,â Arlow reassured, smiling tiredly
âMaybe itâs the nerves, you are leaving tomorrowâ
âPerhaps, the kingâs summons does seem rather urgent. But im sure itâll be fineâ
âI hope your right, my dear. Now. letâs get some more rest, youâll need it for your adventureâ Gemma chuckles softly, prying herself away from her lover and laying back down in their shared bed. Soon being joined by arlow.
âAlright, see you in the morning, my love. The quicker I leave the sooner ill come back and tell you all about itâ Arlow mused tiredly, soon yawning and closing their eyes.
âIâll be holding you to that.â gemma muttered, slipping into a gentle slumber once again.

(pt. 1) - Deirdre x reader
Word Count: 1157
Pronouns: They/Them
Summary: Tarquin bumps into the reader late at night in the kitchen
The sun had already set over the kingdom, most were asleep, except a few servants and guards that scattered around the castle. A few servants were left to clean certain areas of the castle, prepping it for the morning. This is where Y/n seems to be, left alone to clean that nightâs dishes. The dim candlelight illuminating the sink enough to make sure each dish was scrubbed clean, the pile of dirty to clean dishes changing ratio over time.Â
The methodical clinking of dishes in the sink fill the room and snuffs out most of the silence, something the cleaner despises. It always is followed by a faint ringing, it drives them half-mad, it was why they try to find themselves with others, enjoying the soft chatter of people around them or the sounds of daily work.Â
They also seem to be seeking out Deidre, her company being rather enjoyable. Its always rather rare to find her alone, however. Sheâs either working under the king or with her brother, the quieter of the two twins, he was always more intimidating due to this. Always silent with an unreadable expression, though despite this, he is equally as ethereal as Deirdre.Â
Y/n found themself lost in thought, scrubbing away at the same plate in a slow-motion as their mind rolled over the image of the twins. Ungodly attractive and seemingly extremely interesting to talk to - Deirdre was anyways - and holding a mysterious aura that sends shivers down their spine.Â
âOh, I didnât expect anyone to be up at this hourâ
The sudden voice caused the maid to yelp, dropping what they were holding and turning to spot the individual. Almost like history repeating itself, there stood one of the twins, except this one was distinctly not Deirdre, their voice was deeper than the one they remembered.Â
Tarquin stood there in his nightclothes - which consisted of just a long baggy nightshirt - his hair slightly dishevelled from sleep and an edge of tiredness in his voice. His head was tilted curiously at y/n with a subtle amused smile playing at his lips. His amusement soon obvious within his tone when he next spoke.Â
âMy apologies, did I startle you?â
Y/n let out a breath, giving a shakey nod as they composed themselves, grabbing a nearby hand towel to dry their hands. Trying their best to calm fro the initial scare under the gaze of the enderman, his presence growing increasingly more intimidating within the dim light and uncomfortable silence.
âW-what can I do for you, sir?â They shakily asked, composed enough to speak and perhaps fill out whatever task the man could need at this hour.Â
âOh! no need to do anything-â he replied, sending Y/n an awkward smile before making his way towards a cupboard holding a variety of glasses and mugs. âI just came to get a drink, you can ignore me. I wonât be too much of a botherâ
y/n watched him for a moment longer, seeing him quietly retrieve the milk from the icebox to make his beverage. Soon they turned back to their work, staying silent as they returned to cleaning dish after dish. Trying to ignore the presence of Tarquin behind them, his silence growing unnerving, as does the feeling of eyes on their back.Â
âWhy are you up so late?â
Yet again, Tarquinâs voice made Y/n jump. Turning their head to see the man standing closer by, the glass in his hand holding a brown liquid. The evidence of its creation being held on the counter he was previously nearby, there sitting the jug of milk and a pot of cocoa powder.Â
âI-iâ they stuttered out, momentarily meeting his eye before quickly turning back to finish their work, âim finishing up washing todays dishes, then I am to retire to bed..â
âThey left you to do it on your own?â his question seemed to catch them off guard, blinking a bit before slowly responding.
âYes... itâs my duty to have them finished. There just seems to be more today than usual.â
âWould you like any help?â
âN-no!â
Their sudden response had them both started, Tarquin left blinking in surprise. Eventually going to speak before being quickly stopped by Y/n themself.Â
âI mean, no. ill be alright on my own.âÂ
Tarquin only nodded, deciding to just let them do their job. Although he stayed nearby, watching as he quietly drank his chocolate milk. The silence was filled with awkward tension, the soft clinking of dishes returning to fill said silence once again as Y/n continued their work. Neither seemed to want to speak or even know what to say at the moment, keeping them locked in an endless loop of thinking on what to say, trying to say something before deciding not to and lapsing into silence again.Â
âMy sister was right about youâ Tarquin broke the silence, his voice quiet and hesitant. As if he was unsure of what he was saying.Â
âWhat?â Y/n spoke, turning their head to look at him, âw-wait, what did she say?â it was clear they were worried, their eyes searching his desperately for an answer
âW-wait! No! Nothing bad, she said you were hot-â Tarquin tried to catch himself on the word, cheeks flushing a bright lavender. eyes widening in realisation, quickly starting to ramble to try and cover for himself.
âW-well she didn't exactly say that- I mean if she did sheâd still be right- I mean no!- well it doesnât mean your not hot, youâre definitely kinda attractive- not just kinda your very attractive- alright im going to shut up now!â
Tarquin quickly shut himself up, leaning back against the counter behind him and taking a long drink of his milk. Avoiding eye contact the best he could.Â
Everything he said had caught Y/n off guard, their face heating up as each word set in. he, Tarquin, had called them hot. Not only that! He agreed to what his sister had said! She said they were hot!
âOh..â They quietly responded, a shy smile waking its way onto their features. âthank you, Tarquin, that is very sweet of you to sayâ
Tarquin seemed to shrink a little, the already bright colour on his face seemingly darkening at their words. Merely nodding in response, soon having to pry himself away from the counter, quickly moving to clean up the left out milk and cocoa. he finishes his milk, placing the glass by the sink and ultimately disappearing into the night.Â
He was clearly flustered, Y/n found that rather adorable. The mysterious quiet twin had an adorable awkward side, it made him seem a lot less intimidating than before. They thought on it, mulling over what they had been told. Soon, they had to turn back to their work, working later into the night as their thoughts distracted them, cheeks still red from the twinâs words

Summary: a new member of the maid staff gets lost in the halls, only to be assisted by one of the kings mysterious advisors.Â
Being new was⊠eventful. Getting work piled onto you by the head maids and not being able to fit into the schedule just yet. This is where Y/n seemed to have found themselves. Newly recruited under king Etienne as one of the maid staff, cleaning clothes, dishes, cooking and so on. They had been working there for a few days now, seemingly entrusted to have the layout of the entire castle memorised by now despite only ever staying in one area. Only ever trusted to scrub the clothes of the royals and hang them to dry, the only true thing a new staff member can be trusted to do.Â
This is also how they got into this predicament, somewhere down the west wing carrying a tray of food to feed the king. Breakfast in bed for his royal majesty, a duty they where rushed to be given as the maid usually made to do this had fallen ill so suddenly. All the doors looked the same, all with the same handle and same carvings. It what started to confuse them in the first place, walking quickly to make sure the food doesnât get cold and inevitably getting so lost they donât even know the way back to the maids quarters.Â
Their anxiety began to grow, eyes rapidly scanning their surroundings as their steps became slower, not wishing to get lost any further. The trey in their hands being held with a white knuckle grip, they knew it was cooling and they knew the king would be upset.Â
âAre you alright?â
The voice startled them from their focus, turning suddenly to the individual in question. Having to turn their gaze up to meet striking lavender eyes, a kind and curious expression being held on their face. It was one of the endermen twins, one of the kings personal advisors. From what Y/n knew, the twins had been in the castle since childhood, holding a special place within the royal family. almost being royalty themselves.Â
It was quite hard to tell which one it was, but the sight of a bright purple scar peaking through the thin fabric of their shirt was all that's needed to know. The story was well known within the castle walls.Â
âYes!â they stuttered out, still startled by Deirdreâs sudden appearance. Those bright eyes staring holes into their soul, reading them like an open book.Â
âAre you sure?â she asked, almost teasingly. Her eyes scanning over their appearance and their strong grip on the tray. A small smirk appearing on her lips, subtly leaning forward as she spoke. âYou look quite lost, this is for the king, yes?â
Y/n took a moment, eyes glancing from the trey to the twin. an embarrassed flush rising on their face before they gave a small nod. Unable to find their voice under Deirdreâs captivating gaze, paralysing them from making any other moves. She was scary, her silent and mysterious nature that drew every eye in a room to her and her brother. How they flanked the king at every meeting, how they were seen silently wandering the halls and observed with unreadable expressions. She was scary, but oh so attractive. The twins both were stunning, and that made them so much scarier.Â
âWell, your rather far from his quarters. My dear. Would you like me to take you to him?â the offer was given with an outstretched hand, a kind smile held on her face as she awaited their response. Watching their hesitance before they shuffled the trey in their grasp to accept the offer.Â
Deirdre only pushed their hand back, making sure Y/n retook the trey in their grip before taking her place at their side. A hand soon being placed on their hip, pulling them closer to her side. Watching the flush darken on their face at her actions. Soon giving them a few instructions as to not trip during their travels, satisfied by the flustered not she pushed on. Taking a few steps to their new destination, the enderwoman watching the quick transition flash by like second nature.Â
Deirdreâs spare hand came to y/nâs aid, supporting them by the arm as she felt them begin to stumble. The twin knew how teleportation affected humans, it was always upsetting to see them falter at something so natural to her, teleporting was so simple but so hard for the human mind to comprehend. Maybe it was the shift in the air making them nauseous, the replacement of their atoms or some other strange force that comes to endermen normally.Â
âThere we goâ she spoke softly, helping them regain their composure. The lingering touch of her hand on their hip hesitantly being taken away once they were stable. Allowing Y/n to stand on their own, their grip on the trey lighter than before as they took a breath. Calming from the aftershock and eventually meeting Deirdreâs gaze. A soft smile of thanks soon being given and returned between the two, their gazes lingering for a moment longer before Deirdre turned to the door before them.Â
âThis is it, let us give his majesty his morning meal before I take you back to the kitchen. Alright?âÂ
âAlright,â y/n responded, moving to stand beside the taller individual. Watching as she knocked on the door to announce their presence, waiting for a response before letting herself in. Telling the king of their meaning and allowing her companion to step inside, walking with her head down as she made her way to the kingâs bedside, setting the trey of surprisingly still warm food on his nightstand. Then stepping back, giving a bow to the man and returning to the twinâs side. Holding a nervous aura all throughout their visit.Â
Deirdre spoke briefly with the king, wishing him a good morning and reminding him of a few things for the day. Keeping their visit short and to the point, they soon left after arriving. Finding themselves back in the hall, Deirdre placing her hand silently on y/nâs hip once again. Beginning to walk with her shorter companion, yet without the need for teleportation, or rather the want. The enderman choosing to instead walk the maid back to the kitchen, wanting to enjoy their company for a little longer.Â
Then when Deirdre had to leave, her touch lingered yet again. Holding their farewell as long as she could before disappearing to do her duties. Leaving y/n confused and rather flustered and having to deal with this and their workload for the day.

Warnings: none (its fluff shhh)
Pairing: Jschlatt x reader

In all the time schlatt was in power, in all the days and months he was president of Manburg. The thing that pissed the man off the most was seeing you and his Vice-President all buddy-buddy. He knew you were loyal to him, destined to be his empress and wear the crown of his country. But seeing you, his beloved, laughing and talking excitedly with his co-worker made his blood boil. He wanted to pull you away from the beanie-wearing idiot and hold you close, yet he couldnât at the risk of looking jealous. I mean he was jealous but people couldnât know that.Â
Schlatt was sat at his desk, working through the boring business of being a president. His mind was elsewhere, however, focusing on when he saw you and quackity earlier that morning. Laughing like the friends you were and enjoying the day. It only made the man spiteful, he hated it. He wanted you to himself.Â
His thoughts of torturing the man came to a halt as a knock rattled against the wood of his office door, making him look up with a tired glare. Grumbling out a reply, the door soon opened, revealing his empress as you walked in. happily heading over to give him his well-deserved affection, having seen it in the bags under his eyes how much he needed some loving words and kisses from you. Which he of course happily received.Â
Your affections still didnât settle his mind, however, finding himself pulling you to sit on his lap. An arm wrapped protectively around your waist as he hid his face in the crook of your neck, an irritated growl leaving him. Of course, this left you puzzled. He had never acted this way before, making you slightly concerned.Â
âWhatâs bothering you?â you asked, a hand running its fingers through his hair, the soothing motions an attempt at calming him.Â
âI want you to stay away from quackityâ the ram huffed into your neck, âheâs being too friendly, I donât like it.â
His response made you laugh, it was adorable. The Jschlatt was gett jealous, jealous! Of quackity no less! The prospect of it made you giggle, snickering at his words and only making him more frustrated.Â
âWhat? Im serious!â he protested, moving his face from your next to look at your laughing face, narrowing his eyes at you in mild disdain at your mocking.Â
âIm sorry-â your laughter interrupted you, having to calm a bit before speaking your next words. âItâs just, your worries are not needed. Heâs just a friend, I promise nothing would ever happen between me and himâ
âYou sure?â he asked, the scepticism vivid in his tired eyes.Â
âIm positive. Im your and only yours.â
Your words seemed to have dampened his suspicious, if only a bit, letting him relax and lean into your warming touch again. Enjoying your presence and the affectionate words that soon started to spill from your lips. He wasnt one to doubt your word, if anything whatever you said went but in this instance, he was still slightly suspicious. If only for the fact he knew the type of person quackity was and he wasnt happy about it.Â
So even after your words, signing your love only to him. A twinge of disdain panged in his soul whenever he saw you and his vice-president talking to one another.
