My mom calls her Facebook page “her website”. She looks in my fridge and says stuff like “Who’s apple cider vinegar is that?” I live alone. I bought her a roomba years ago so she could vacuum less. She uses it to “pre-vacuum” before she vacuums. She’s my biggest fan and will also tell me when she thinks something is not funny. She says stuff like “I like those new shoes. I really like this new style you’re going with.” And, “please shave that beard you’re embarrassing me”. She’ll watch a movie with me at 2am. If I don’t answer a text within one minute, she writes “um, hellooooo…”. She leaves voicemails that state “This is your mother…” Her middle name means Valentine and she is the love of my life. I couldn’t ask for a better mom. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms, past and present, who change(d) people’s lives just by being uniquely themselves. Mother’s day is every day.
