lesbians are demonized so much and it sickens me
like- either we're all terfs, biphobic, predators, exclusionists, or some other shit when 99.99999999% of us aren't. it's so fucking disgusting how so many problems within the community are pinned on us.
we can't even have our own spaces without people jumping on and derailing it to also include themselves. can we PLEASE have ONE place to ourselves. like one little blog, before people ask to start including all wlw. yes, all wlw are valid and the same in the sense that we are all women loving women, but i have NEVER seen the same rhetoric with bisexual-focused blogs or pansexual-focused blogs.
actually, i've mainly only seen lesbian spaces harassed for being exclusionary and i'm sick of it.
also, i've seen this with media. explicitly lesbian characters will be called bisexual or pansexual because "hey, it's all wlw!" yes!! that character is wlw!! but they are explicitly lesbian can we PLEASE just have this character
we're called transphobic even though a small percentage are terfs. ALSO not all terfs are lesbians!! any sexuality can be a terf!! there's transphobic gay people, transphobic bi people, transphobic straight people, yet i mostly see lesbians blamed for the transphobia in the community.
also, everyone is using the term "comphet" freely as an umbrella lgbtq term!! it's not!! this is a lesbian exclusive term because it applies to lesbians. comphet is faking the attraction to men. if you are attracted to men you are NOT FAKING THE ATTRACTION. yes, gay men experience heteronormativity. all lgbtq people experience heteronormativity but the difference between that and comphet is that comphet is driven by a patriarchal society and how women are perceived and treated.
the word "lesbian" is being treated like an aesthetic now. my own friends have started saying "ahah i dress like a lesbian!" "i act like a lesbian" "omg i give off lesbian vibes" and the icing on top "i wish i was a lesbian" actually shut up. my sexuality is not your little aesthetic or joke. it's not quirky.
our flag is SO often excluded from merchandise and art. even the word "lesbian" is reduced to "liking girls." our flag and identity is taboo to people who "support the community." i've seen pride art and pride banners that include every sexuality except lesbian. the first letter of lgbtq. you can't "forget" the first letter, this is deliberate.
many nonlesbians see lesbophobia and try to speak for all lesbians. just because you are wlw does not mean you face lesbophobia and can speak out over us. just like lesbians don't face biphobia, bisexuals don't experience lesbophobia. when you see it in the community, we are often silenced by well-meaning wlw because they think our sexuality is an umbrella term for all wlw. don't accept apologies from lesbophobic actions if you're not a lesbian. don't do it.
we're so overwhelmingly hated by the rest of the community that i feel "other" and "inferior." i've struggled with the label so much because it felt wrong and taboo. because of the constant stereotyping and infighting, it took me so long to accept that i am lesbian. it's not a dirty word, it's an identity. i feel like lesbians have to make our own spaces for ourselves. honestly, i don't feel welcome in the lgbtq community a lot of the time.
i can't believe our community made the mistake of thinking we were the enemy. we are a COMMUNITY. we are friends and family. bisexuals are my friends, pansexuals are my friends, gay people are my friends, trans people are my friends, nonbinary people are my friends, we are all friends!!!!
stop this shit right now. if you see lesbophobia, call it out. so many microaggressions are normalized and encouraged, it's everyone's duty to stop it in its tracks.
nonlesbians are encouraged and highly wanted to reblog. if you clown on this post, i will not debate, i will go straight to the block button. do NOT clown.
lesbians, i love you <3
nonlesbians, do not start any discourse or so help me god
