I am a scholar at the University of Central Florida whose research focuses on fan studies, and as we reach the 30th anniversary of Xena I want to understand the show’s fans: when and how you became a fan, your fan activities, your opinion about the fandom, and the relationship of the fandom to the makers of the show.

Answer Our Survey!

Please help us by participating in our online research Survey of Harry Potter Fan Attitudes, directed by Dr. Mel Stanfill, Associate Professor, Texts & Technology Program and Department of English, University of Central Florida. The purpose of this research is to understand how Harry Potter fans have responded to author J.K. Rowling’s tweets about transgender people. 

We are interested in hearing from you if you: a) are 18 or older, and b) self-identify as a current or former Harry Potter fan. If you agree to participate, you will be asked to answer questions about your history as a fan, your understanding of Rowling’s comments, and whether and how the comments have impacted you as a fan. The survey will take approximately 10 minutes.

Wow, everybody! We’re floored by the response to this! And very grateful. We have now reached the number of responses we were approved for by the Institutional Review Board (1,000), so we’re not taking any more responses at this time.

We have seen that people have comments about the survey, but the only interaction we were approved to have with our study population is the survey itself, so we can’t answer. Hopefully you also put them into the survey itself so that we can take them into account in our findings!
