  Exactly.  It seems to be a rather selfish and demanding reaction.  I feel like I am being a little critical… but I still feel you’re correct.  If time and health are on their side otherwise, why waste it?

It was not a definition that would have entered DIO’s mind.       His words seemed to ache a little --maybe, if he had a body, he could have probably felt it right where his heart was supposed to be, instead of feebly diffusing themselves all over his incorporeal being.

      There was a sad smile on his face --a smile curling his lips after years of cold and solitude, a smile only few were able to see and somehow enjoy. A hand finally left the deadly grip on the cloak, moving out as it almost hesitantly reached for the vampire's hand --an attempt of contact with that real father he always dreamed to be able to meet, one day, even if in a different, more lively situation.

      « Unfortunately, is because of such a failure if I'm chained here. . . Padre. I cannot accept it. I cannot accept this death of mine as truly the way I deserved to pass away. I still have to. . . do so many things, to avenge myself and find my companions. . . Failure rules my entire existance in this plan of reality, and the rejection of said failure allows me to still thrive that life that has been extirpated from my body so unfairly. »

-There’s the rustle of a page, after a long moment, and DIO mentally marks his place before snapping the book shut and laying it aside. He turns his head towards the spirit, perhaps peeking at him from the corner of his vision, but still patiently waiting for him to come to him first.-

      The other's words echoed in the silence of the library, melting with the scent of books and the same blood still trickling from his everbleeding wound. Clutcing more his cloak, the ghostly figure of the fallen prince finally left his hideout, feeble steps announcing the bruised visage and the glass-like, dull eyes. Those very eyes were still, though --staring the massive figure without even flinching, the profile of the dead being remaining tall and filled with royalty.

       « . . . you won't reject a son who failed, Dio Brando? »

-He cannot see the Stand, but he still seems suspicious. A low growl rises in his throat as his wings stiffen in an aggressive display.-

To think that he’d meet an iteration of his son that, not only died, but couldn’t pass on… Shedding tears in front of him was probably not a good idea, but he couldn’t help himself. He’s simply far too heartbroken just from laying his eyes on him.]

The star-shaped one… yes, I also have it. We Joestars… we all have it. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised to see even… even you, in your state, but… forgive me for my tears.

[He brings a hand up to wipe at his face.]

P-Please, though. You don’t have to be so formal… you may call me Jonathan.

      He froze --as rigid as a slab made of the purest of ices could be.

      Were. . . were those truly tears? For him, a ghost who just was at the end of the first part of his journey towards resurrection?

      « Ah --no, per favore. . . don't cry. Not for me, at least. »

      He tried to soothe, he really did --but consoling people, when he was the first one who never received the warmth of consolation, wasn't exactly his forte. Especially when  he couldn't even try to touch the other, knowing that his hand would most likely trespass the flesh and bone holding the giant together.

      « . . . Jonathan. Really. Crying is unnecessary --for I'm here with a precise goal, and this goal is to being brought back into the world of the living. I have to achieve revenge for what I've been subjected to, and as a ghost, despite being still able to use my Stand fully, I cannot do much. Plus, my Operative is missing.  . And I have to find them. »

[He can’t help but feel relieved; knowing that this wasn’t his son. But at the same time, he’s ashamed, feeling relieved in the presence of this one. Clearly, he had met a terrible end… and, at the very least, he should extend his hand towards this one, as well.]

I am Jonathan Joestar. Ah… you are, perhaps, more familiar with the name DIO? In most cases, after my death, it is my body that he dons. And… it is with my body that you were conceived with.

I am… I suppose I could be classified as your half-father. I apologize for speaking without explaining myself first.

      He paused for a few seconds, closing his eyes --looking indeed as if he was assimilating the information the other just delivered. A quite blunt deliver, but indeed appreciates due to the circumstances.

      « So it's yours, the birthmark I used to have on my shoulder. I would say I am surprised, but I've wandered through countless timelines and seen truly bizarre things making such a thing. . . almost normal. This doesn't change that it's a pleasure to meet you, Signor Joestar --even if I would have indeed preferred a completely different, sans-death scenario. »
