ANYA VOLKOV(A) — played by Grace Van Patten, flexible into multiple verses. Her general traits tend toward chaos: she can be cold and calculated, while being young and unpredictable. Her roots are almost always Eastern European in some ways. She descends from Russian heritage but where she grows up for most of her life is verse dependent.
Her primary verse is affiliated with my Klaus Mikaelson's The Hollow Crown verse, and some general information for her is available here. For now, this is her more underdeveloped verse, but her broader personality traits are drawn from here. As mentioned previously, she can certainly be cold and calculating, with a streak for nefarious schemes. Although a part of Niklaus's coven, she carries somewhat of a penchant for Kol's personality. I haven't spent a whole lot of time thinking about her in my coven just yet so there's a lot of jotted down thoughts there about the possible directions I could take her in.
The Vampire Diaries Verse:
Grew up in Russia for most of her life in the late 1700s. Anya descends from noble roots. She grew up in castles and luxury; however, her life was far from prim and proper.
When she was young, she'd seen and heard stories of werewolves and vampires, though slimly saw any with her own eyes. This caused her to be fascinated with occult and supernatural studies. Although welcomed by High Society as a quirk at first, her dangerous obsession soon led to her own ostracizing.
Having been feared and disliked by everyone alike, she gave up her life of luxury and fled to Vienna, around the year 1798.
Vienna was alive with decadence and decay — music halls filled with nobles and monsters alike. Anya Volkova arrived from Russia under the guise of a scholar, pursuing deeper paranormal studies in higher education.
She was drawn to the occult salons that whispered of resurrection, witchcraft, and blood rites. Something in her led her to believe this is exactly where she'd uncover what she was looking for.
That’s where she met him: Kol Mikaelson, pretending to be a patron of the arts. He was reckless, charming, and too curious for his own good. Before she knew it, she herself became a vampire at the hands of the reckless Mikaelson, having become a spitting image of his personality.
Her present day story is up in the air and completely up to the discretion of myself and my writing partner.

Supernatural Verse:
Anya was born in Saint Petersburg, Russia but grew up in a small Russian community within New York City.
She grew up listening to stories from her grandmother about Russian supernatural folklore, from rusalkas to leshys.
She dismissed it all until her family was slaughtered during what police called a “home invasion.” The truth was much worse: a strzyga, an old Slavic witch-like creature that feeds on vitality, left her as the only survivor.
She hunted it down three years later — her first kill — using one of her grandmother’s old talismans and sheer rage. From there, she didn’t stop. She learned sigils, hex-bags, and modern lore from American hunters, but her methods remain distinctly old-world: salt mixed with iron dust, silver etched with runes, and prayers whispered in Russian before every hunt.
Anya is cynical, calculating, but deeply superstitious in private. She doesn’t like working with others — her empathy is buried under years of survival instinct.
For Sams and Deans — there's lots of potential for them consulting her on Eastern European specific supernatural activity.
She is every bit the "locked in", serious hunter since her parents died. Growing up in a low socioeconomic, immigrant household lent itself to this personality.
Fandomless / The Secret Circle Inspired Verse:
Anya was born into the Volkova bloodline, one of six ancient families bound by elemental magic to protect the balance between life and death.
Her family fled Marrow Bay, a small New England coastal town, after her mother broke the Circle’s oath and tried to sever their ancestral connection to the Spirit element.
When Anya turned seventeen, strange sigils began appearing on her palms whenever she touched another witch. Soon after, one of the Circle’s members drowned under mysterious circumstances — and the binding spell re-formed around her instead.
She inherited not only the Spirit element but also what her mother feared most: the Void, a dark current that leaks through the veil between realms (an ode to the dark magic of The Secret Circle lore). The power listens when she feels too deeply — and sometimes, it answers.
Her magic manifests emotionally: lights flicker when she’s angry, glass bends when she cries, and shadows gather when she doubts herself. She fears the darkness more than anyone else, yet it is drawn to her empathy.
Anya is quiet but magnetic — analytical, reserved, and often the last to speak. Her composure masks a volatile current beneath the surface; she feels everything and carries it until it breaks her.
She practices a blend of ancestral and modern witchcraft: spirit amplification, memory invocation, blood-bound sigils, and candle-based channeling. Her rituals are precise, often written in Russian, and performed under salt circles to contain the Void’s reach.
Among other witches, she’s seen as an anomaly — the girl who makes the Circle whole again, yet might be the one to tear it apart.
For threads, there’s potential in coven dynamics or supernatural mysteries surrounding Marrow Bay’s thinning veil.
Some of this is subject to change, such as subtle personality changes or shifts in witch lore for the last verse specifically.
I am yet to include a TSITP verse, but I have some ideas cooking if anyone's interested in listening to them.
