FTAR RELAUNCH

It’s been a long time, everyone. But, after a bit of growing and situating, FTAR is ready to be revived, with a team of veteran and newcomers, and an all new motivation for spriting! That being said, these next couple weeks are going to be used for repairing and dusting off the old page (conveniently, spring cleaning) as well as a potential revamp, just to give it that new shine! With the new and old fans of Homestuck and Hiveswap, there’s a big influx of sprites being produced, and that makes room for us to help, fix, and create for whoever asks of our talents. We’re excited to be back and hope you are too!! Thanks for everything in the years we had initially, and thanks for the work we’re about to start again. -Mod Pambi

woo- I figured I’d go ahead and submit something since I’ve found out that I’m really bad at ancestors, if that’s alright! There are 4 ancestors in total;

The first one is The Cavalier … Next is Advocate Dayanara. … Andddd next there’s Magician Percival … Last but not least there’s The Alighted …

I don’t have any artist preference, I’m sure you’re all amazing! Also, it’s alright if you can’t do these or don’t want to, I just figured I’d shoot the submit anyways and see if you’d like to. Again, I’m sorry if Lucian/The Alighted or Percyv/Magician Percival will be hassles, I hadn’t really thought them through much but I wanted to make sure I got all four done at once! I’m using them for a Homestuck RP with some friends, if I’m being honest. >//w//> thank you in advance for whatever you decide! I hope I didn’t make any mistakes or anything like that.

I had to make up the Advocate’s and the Alighted’s blood colors, since there was no reference of them anywhere, unfortunately. As for the Alighted, I was not sure whenever your trolls had a consistent symbol theme, so I used a Nordic rune that’s usually interpreted as a symbol of positivism, to fit his personality… although I’d be better to base it on his theme, if he has one. 

If you do not like it, or something else from them, it can be changed by request! )

Is it ok to base the symbols of some fantrolls off of Germanic runes? Is it too over-used?

I’ve seen them before but I don’t think theyre overused!

Hi, um, do you have a base for like... skeleton legs/body in the normal sprite style, or know where someone could find one?

=There is a panel where handmaid’s skeleton is shown (flashing gif warning) but if you want a stationary sprite I made you one=

This has probably submitted several times, my wifi is messed up right now.) Hi, I was wondering if you could do a Talksprite and a Lusus Sprite for my Fantroll. If the Talksprite could just be a neutral talking animation, that would be good! Her hair is more fluffy and less spiky than it is in the photo, it’s an old drawing. Her symbol is the Andromeda constellation. Her lusus is a giant koi fish with a dot on its forehead, I think it’s called a crown patterned koi? The dot is the same color as the fantroll’s blood, #9A275A. Thank you!

( Alright, so unfortunately we can’t do yet her lusus, but on the meanwhile, there goes a talksprite! Please message, and she will be retouched if you wish so. )

what programs do you guys use to make the sprites and such?

I personally use photoshop cs3 for all drawing, and then GIMP for animation.

oh yay the submit box is finally open, it’s been forever!

could one of you make an animated talksprite for my fantroll, one with her regular outfit on the left, and one with all her gear on the right? without her gear she can just speak and have an overall neutral expression, and with her gear her eyes could blink?

also, does this count as two pieces of art, or just one?

Here you go!  I added a still version of each one as well.  Because the gear is pretty complicated and the animations are different, it does count as two pieces of art.  As always if you want anything changed, shoot us an ask!

Is there any sort of restriction that applies for being a mod? (As in: you can't join if you work already in another blog, you can't use bases for working, etc.)

We’d rather you not use bases, but no there aren’t really any other restrictions!  However any bigotry (racism, sexism, ableism, etc.) from mods will absolutely not be tolerated, as you’ll remember with what happened to mod eddie.

Hi, d'you happen to have or know where I could find a base for a seadweller with ripped-off fins? If you don't, it's fine, but if you do that'd be extremely helpful!

Do you know any easy ways to make a mini sprite? They're really hard for me to make but they also look really fun.

~*~ A good way to start is by looking at the mini-sprites in the comic! See what poses and shapes you like- there aren’t that many ways to draw a troll 16 pixels high and stay in the style. Looking at canon for basics and staying minimalistic with the details is almost all of it. ~*~

♥ I do, however, animated sprites take a lot of time with each individual frame, and I at least tend not to animate them when there are 3-4 sprites being requested. ♥ - Pambi

Well, most of our mods do private commissions for more complicated art, but this blog is just for fun!  Besides, we know a lot of people can’t afford to pay for art of their fantrolls and this is just a way for us to practice and for you guys to get some cool art out of the deal B)
