The Premise ✨

Beyond the stars and over the sea, the island Moon’s Rest welcomes its new visitor, Lallo, an alien prince capable of taking on a human form. However, he doesn’t intend to stay long… due to crashing his ship, the stars in his fuel-tank have been strung across space, leaving him with no choice but to gather new ones! Luckily, pieces of eroded stars occasionally wash ashore along the coast of Crescent Bay, and the fisherboy Simon just so happens to stumble across Lallo collecting them. He lends Lallo a hand, and every night the two boys set out in search of the stars, all so that Lallo can return to his home, the moon. Except one day, Simon discovers Lallo’s secret, and their friendship becomes strained, trusting one another is difficult. …Yet, having no one else to rely on but each other, Simon teaches Lallo on how to behave more like a human, while Lallo shows Simon everything there is to know about his own kind, the Lullalites. As the bond between the two deepens, an ache begins to take root in Simon’s heart; the painful realization that, someday, the friend that he has also been slowly developing feelings for, must leave him behind in the end. Sadly, it doesn’t seem like Lallo has a choice, as his kingdom might arrange something terrible if he doesn’t return soon enough…

Despite that (…and a few other things), he doesn’t regret coming here, as he’s glad to have met Simon, his first best friend. He’s not pressured to do his princely duties, so he can just have fun and relax as a kid should. So much fun in fact that he starts questioning if he ever even liked the moon in the first place… especially his mother. He turned an abandoned lighthouse into his home. (He doesn’t like going near his ship due to the crash being too distressing to think about.) Visits his friend/crush Simon in the seaside town Starshore most of the time. On the moon… As a prince, he was pressured by his mother to perfect his singing and powers to the fullest. Unfortunately, due to this, he became reluctant to do anything other than working, like spending time with kids his age. How he feels about himself… He doubts his abilities a lot to the point where if he makes even one mistake, he questions his entire self-worth. He feels as if the only thing that actually understands him are the stars above him. But then again, they might actually just be looking down on him if he averts his gaze. How he feels about Simon… They spend a lot of time together, resulting in a special bond. (…And a crush) Unfortunately though, Simon puts a lot of stress onto Lallo to look more ‘humanlike’ by forcing him to change his personality and outfits. This upsets Lallo, but he doesn’t say anything as he doesn’t want to ruin his closest friendship. How he feels about Marigold… Pities her, as she is a ghost. Gets annoyed at her a lot though because she teases him about being an alien. How he feels about Terra… Thinks she’s very sweet, and feels incredibly sorry that she had to go through Mar’s death. Wants to spend more time with her to cheer her up, but she doesn’t really like him all that much.

Even when he was a little kid, he’s always felt connected to space, the stars, and even the ocean in some way. (He just… doesn’t like fish.) And once he met Lallo, it felt like a weight lifted off of his chest. Lallo was singing a lullaby that only Lullalites know… and he recognized it. The lullaby “Farewell Star”. How he feels about himself… Hated his past self as he got bullied for his autism, clothing choices, weird tastes in things, etc. Due to this, he’s been projecting onto Lallo to change too. How he feels about Lallo… Simon cares for Lallo deeply, as he is his first best friend in ages. He feels connected to him in a weird spiritual way. (He gains a crush on him too, but doesn’t realize it at first due to his internalized homophobia.) How he feels about Marigold… (Nope) How he feels about Terra… (Haha no)

She was friends with Simon and Terra before she died. Faro, a lighthouse keeper who is also a ghost, stumbled upon Marigold when she died. Marigold now spends her time living in the abandoned lighthouse with him. How she feels about herself… Feels like it’s her fault for her death, and hates herself for it. Although, she doesn’t express any of this to her friends (besides Lallo). How she feels about Terra… Has a huge crush on her that hasn’t gone away even after her death. Misses her a lot to the point where she watches her at school, and gets jealous whenever Terra hangs out with her friends. Feels guilty that she made Terra sad due to her death. How she feels about Lallo… Avoided him at first, but since she had no one else to talk to she just decided to befriend him anyway. She is usually emotionally distant, but with Lallo she feels as if she can tell him anything and he won’t judge. How she feels about Simon… (Nothing to see here)

(Probably because she has a fascination in the dead and wants to be a mortician or a grave tender when she grows up.) How she feels about herself… Incredibly depressed, just can’t let Marigold out of her mind. How she feels about Marigold… The two were inseparable when they were kids. Tragically, their time together was cut short when Mar died, leaving Terra to be deeply depressed, and for years she has been struggling to desperately forget her… but now that she can see her ghost again with Lallo’s help, she doesn’t know how to feel. Back when Mar was alive, she had a crush on her, and she assumed those feelings had long since faded after her death... however, it turns out, that crush really did never go away. She would rather not be in a relationship with a ghost though, which makes Marigold incredibly upset and jealous. How she feels about Lallo… Thought he was just some weird kid, but now that she knows he’s an alien, she doesn’t want anything to do with him, even if he made it so she could see Marigold. How she feels about Simon… (Just forget it)

Age - 60s Pronouns - He/him Role - Lighthouse keeper Personality - Reserved and kind Died a long time ago and is now living in his lighthouse with Marigold. Pretty much the father figure to the main cast, especially towards Marigold and Lallo.

Age - 13 Pronouns - She/her Personality - Clever and a perfectionist Terra’s best friend, they met after Marigold’s death. Very smart for her age, Terra likes to copy her homework sometimes due to this.

🌨️ Alice Hoshikawa 🌨️ #alice

Age - 40s Pronouns - She/her Personality - Caring TW: Child death Marigold’s mother. Tries her best to seem kind, but is just internally broken after her daughter’s death. She just wants her back.

🌊 Mortimer Soleil 🌊 #mortimer

Age - 50s Pronouns - He/him Role - Fisherman Personality - Rough around the edges but is kind in general Adopted Simon when he was a baby. Wants the best for him, but doesn’t really know how to raise a child, so he ends up treating him poorly sometimes.

Age - 12 Pronouns - He/him Personality - Chill Simon’s friend before Lallo came along. Obsessed with skating and showing off tricks to Si. (Simon doesn’t really care though, unfortunately.)

Age - Mrrp Pronouns - She/her Personality - Meow A stray cat that stays with Lallo and Simon in their abandoned lighthouse. Loves getting pet and eating treats. They give her a collar later in the story.

Age - 145 Pronouns - She/her Orientation - Bisexual Height - 6’1” Species - Lullalite Role - Queen of the moon Personality - Stoic, cruel Children - Lallo Themes - The Thread by Lisa Hannigan, Moonbird by Roger Webb TW: Child abuse, death of a loved one Currently sending out Lullalites to find her son, as he’s the only one she has now. Unfortunately, she doesn't treat Lallo very well, to the point where she pulls on Lallo's antennas and berates him if he messes up on his singing. She never wanted to be a mother, but to continue the royalty bloodline, she had to. Her husband, Antares, died due to a disease, leaving Lallo to be the new king… or at least, that’s what should’ve happened. She doesn’t think he’s ready for that title yet.
