Timber frame barn going up slowly. Stages include 1) Pick the tree 2) cut the tree 3) mill the tree to a square timber for post, beam, brace 4) cut mortise and tenon in each piece 5) assemble.

It's not all animals, pasture, forests and gardens on the farm. There's also the greenhouse and the brewery; today it was a farmhouse IPA that took the chill off the cool April day.

Around the farm it’s always hopeful in the spring. Lambs arrive first, in early February - strong and hardy NC Cheviot/Cheviot crosses. That follows closely with the goats (Nubian/Boer) who kid in March, giving them a bit of an advantage with the cold. Pigs are still young, piglets expected this summer.

Now that night time frost is becoming infrequent I have begun to gather eggs for the incubators. Chantecler and Wellsummer purebred and some amazing barnyard crosses from Basque stock.
