Tours and Tourists | Sara and Gil
Gil’s smile invited a small laugh at her joke, his eyebrows raising with amusement as he attempted to relate himself to it. “Is that what they say? And what do they say when the boss is your father?” He chucked along at this, finding her laughter a little contagious - before waving a hand. “No, no, I won’t tell a soul. That’d be awfully counter-productive of me to attempt to get you in trouble, you know, when I’m glad for you to visit and all.”
The blond gave a short nod of appreciation as she smirked at him, folding his arms behind his back in a butler-ly sort of way as he returned the grin. “Why, thank you, Your Highness. I do so appreciate the compliment. Now..”
He paused to glance around, before nodding in the direction of the stairs leading up to the church - waiting for Sara to walk with him as he began the tour. “Well, we’re currently starting our tour in Harmonica Town, the center of commerce for Castanet County. Most of our town’s shops are here, as well as our clinic, inn, and dining options. Up here by the church, however—”
He paused to take a deep breath as they reached the top of the stairs, before gesturing to the railing running along the overlook. “—here is the best view of town one can find without leaving the Harmonica District.” He nodded toward the horizon - the ocean sweeping up against the cliffs of town and glittering in the sunlight, the colorful rows of roofs descending down from the outlook in an almost stair-like formation - and sweeping around to connect with the docks and the lighthouse. “I’m sure a lot of this is visible from the ferry, of course - but this is my favorite place in town to view it from. The breeze from the ocean is wonderful, though admittedly a little biting this time of year.”
He gave Sara an apologetic smile. “You ought to come by in one of the warmer months for the full experience.”
"Same thing!" She laughed. "My dad was my boss too, once. He used to get so mad at me when I snuck off..." Her smile softened. "But he always came 'round. Sometimes we cut work together." She shook her head. "Thanks!"
"I'm totally the Queen now!" Sara crowed, tilting her chin up in what she hoped was a regal manner. "Your Highness... a girl could get used to that."
She quickly followed him, hurriedly hopping up the stairs to keep up. She had to take the stairs one at a time, her hand gripping the rail tightly. It wasn't that she was scared of heights- she loved them, actually. She was just very... clumsy when it came to stairs, and after a nasty childhood incident, she took them very seriously. Even the baby ones.
"It's beautiful," Sara breathed, leaning over the railing. "The ferry's view ain't got nothing on this- holy crap this place is huge." She shivered. "Aw, this ain't nothing. It gets way colder up on the Island- but we don't have such a pretty view to make up for it." Bigbee was talking about getting a lighthouse in- maybe she'd ask him about a viewing station on the top.
"So, everything the light touches is gonna be yours someday, huh?" She asked teasingly. "And who gets the shadowy places?"
