“Keeping up with me huh,” a chuckle slipped from the man’s lips. “I think it may be the other way around, you’ve definitely have the skill to give me a run for my money.” Farren shifted on his feet, rolling his shoulders before moving back in to sparring distance. “I’ve never been one for holding back, it makes it harder to learn control if you’re always shying away from your full strength.”

“I guess you are right.”  Her line of vision slid over to meet his gaze. Delaney had never been one for being prepared. She was always one that lived for the moment, usually regardless of the consequences, which meant endless parties and dealing with any problems afterwards. Only now there was one gigantic problem that was never going to go away. This didn’t work well for the blonde–seeing as she usually made things go away by sweet talking her father or by making money payments. “Well I know the woods isn’t a place I have frequented until recently–but I would say there’s no real chance of me getting lost in them. I also have a bottle of water now too–thanks to this guy…quite cute too.” She smirked and took a couple of sips from her bottle. “Well Farren..it’s good to meet you..I’m Delaney and animals that aren’t always kind to people?…what like?…a skunk?…a badger?.” She teased.

Farren chuckled a bit at the girl’s comments. It was always refreshing to be around someone younger then him. They always had an interesting view on the world. “You never know, its easy to get turned around when you deep in thought.” was offered with a small shrug. The blonde’s compliment to his appearance was not at all lost on him. But he just chose to pass over it in the moment. Her next question made him raise his eyebrow a bit. “So as ridiculous as it seems, badgers are no joke. They can be mean little bundles of anger.” There was a soft seriousness to his words, even though his lips curled in to a small smile. “But I was more talking about wolves, bears... things that have a much bigger bite to them.” 

“But I’m sure you’re going to tell me you aren’t really worried about them either.”

“Well it’s not working yet.” Delaney mumbled, not really acknowledging his smile at first, but then her line of vision connected with him and she forced a smile on her face too. She waited to see if he had a drink she could have and when he produced one, the young blonde looked relieved and took it from him. “Thank you…” Removing the cap, she took a couple of good swigs from it, wiping her mouth gently on the back of her hand. “Are you always this prepared?..even to cater for strangers?”  She offered him a pleasant smile now, one that was more natural. “Dangerous..in what way?” She wasn’t stupid, Delaney had a fair idea–she just wanted to see what he would say. “Yes…walk with me..I would like that.”

“I am pretty used to being out in the woods, for hiking and such. Its always safer to be over prepared.” was his answer to her question. When she asked how it could be dangerous, he thought for a moment about how to answer. “Well aside from it being dangerous if you don’t know your terrain, you could get lost out here pretty easily. There are also animals that aren’t always kind to people. You know the usual problems that come with being out in nature and someone else’s habitat.” his words fell from his lips simply. Farren gave her a little nod as he shifted to moved, he motioned for her to go first. Following behind her a little. “I’m Farren by the way, I figure I should properly introduce myself if you are willing to walk with me.”

Delaney was still learning the different scents and essences that belonged to various people. It wasn’t always evident and sometimes she found it quite difficult, but she was pretty sure she’d picked up the fact he was a wolf. Maybe it was because he had been running–like he said and his scent was stronger, the blonde wasn’t certain, but he had been the most clear so far, when it came to her sense of smell  “Oh…I judged you wrong then and no…I wasn’t running. I was walking, trying to clear up a few things in my head.”

Her hazel hues cast over his body from head to foot, noting the pack. “Do you have a drink spare in there?” She could feel a banging headache coming on and whilst she tended not to get them really any more–she did if she hadn’t drank enough. “It’s quiet out here. I like it.” It was then she offered him a smile, thinking how much she hated the silence before she was a wolf. Delaney always lived for parties with loud music and right now, most music was far too loud–banging through her head like some bass drum.

Farren offered the younger women a soft smile. “Its a great place to clear your head.” he offered. Shifting the pack off his shoulder the man nodded. “Yeah I’m sure I have an extra bottle of water in here.” kneeling down, Farren dug through his pack for a moment. Producing a full bottle of water for her. “Here you go,” handing it over he tucked the stuff back in to the pack and stood. His eyes looked around the forest around them before settling back on to her. “It can be very serene out here. I’ve always enjoyed it over being in town.” The comment was genuine as he slung his back over his shoulder again. “Though you should stay closer to the trails. It can get a little dangerous out her this time of year. I can walk back with you if you like.”

“You think I want this? You think I haven’t given up everything I have to find another way? Another option?” She could feel the anger growing in her, a low baseline growl emanating from deep within the wolf. This man thought he could just waltz into Antioch and fix all their problems? “The people who lay down between the packs the get run over. You don’t know anything about us. You’re not ‘my kind’ just because we both get a little cuckoo on a full moon, alright? You’re not my people, and you don’t get to come and pretend like you know about who we are and what we’ve sacrificed. What I’ve sacrificed.” She was furious to realize the wetness in her eyes. She sniffed and wiped her nose with her sleeve, diverting her eyes over his shoulder. 

“You don’t know us, Farren Rhodes. You don’t get to just ride in on your white horse and save us.”

Farren let her get out what she needed to say. There was a fire in her that he’s seen before. The thought took him back a little as he listened to her. A deep sigh sounded as his hand lifted to run through his hair. His brown knitted together when he noticed the tears starting to collect at her eyes. “I don’t know you..” slipped from his lips when she was finished. “The reason I wanted to meet you was to get to know you, and your pack. To figure out how to help you. Not save you, I am no knight in a trusty steed. I am just a man that wants to see the town that took him in as a young run away avoid war. I am only offering a helping hand.” he kept his words calm and gentle.

Delaney was finding it more and more difficult when around groups of people. Yet she was the social type that would get great satisfaction from interacting and always having friends nearby. So she felt like one bigass fish out of water lately, trying to adjust to the new found changes and not doing so well. Of course her behaviour sometimes left little to be desired. Things might have progressed far more quickly had she accepted the unwanted changes instead of denying and ignoring them until she could no longer do that.

The blonde had never cared for the woods in the past, unless it was some secret party that was going down and everyone would meet there to get high. Yet the draw of it was much more enticing lately. It was a place she found the most peace within–that and consuming as much alcohol as possible. However, as she walked through the trees, her keen sense of hearing picked up somebody else nearby. Sometimes she was able to catch the different scents from human–to werewolf–to vampire, but with the wolf within her being new, it was all a learning game at the moment and she didn’t always catch peoples scent being different. Seeing the figure come into view, her brow rose as he spoke.  “Well clearly you didn’t. Should I ask why you are?…because you don’t look like you are on some early morning run to me.”

The air around the blonde had the distinct scent of wolf. Causing him to smile softly when she spoke. “I was running,” he breathed out simply. It wasn’t like it was a lie, it had been what he was doing. Even if it didn’t look like it. “I’m just getting ready to head back to my truck,” was added as he slipped his pack over his shoulder. He didn’t reckoning the girl. But that wasn’t out of the ordinary he didn’t know all the wolves in town. On top of that she seemed young, that could have also been why he hadn’t picked up her scent before. 

Shifting in his place he adjusted the strap in its place. “Are you out here to run?” Farren asked curiously. He didn’t want to disturb her if she’d come out to the woods looking for solitude. He knew that sometimes being alone was the best way for one to clear their minds.

“That isn’t true at all, I want to help them because I’ve seen what war can do to this town. I’ve seen what the losses are. How horrible it is for the people that survive it. I don’t wish that on any of the wolves. If I can do something to help stop that from happening then I am going to try. It has nothing to do with power. I don’t want power. I was perfectly content living as a wolf in the forest of Canada for many years.. why would I need power when I can be one with nature. If anyone really think this is a play for power, they are seriously misguided. This has never been about the power, its been about preserving our race.. making sure we don’t kill each other off.”

“No, I have no interest in leading anything. That is a honor I wasn’t born with and don’t see my self having at any point in my life. My goals have never been to lead people. They have always been to keep the peace, to enlighten and foster a sense of unity. I feel that is something I was born to do. It is very different then leading in my eyes. Its like advising said leaders... or something like that.”

In the time Farren had spent in Antioch, he'd been neglecting his wolf. It had been weeks of not more since his last shift. The man needed to correct it. The sun hadn't even began to rse as he made his way through to woods. A low sigh of contentment filtered through a flared nostrils as he sniffed the air. It was moments like this that allowed him to free his mind of the world. Just focus on nature, the tranquillity or the world around him. The world unclouded by hate or the need for absolution.

He was in mid stride just about to reach where he'd left hus pack. When another sent found its way in to his senses. Slowing his movement the wolf easily shifted back in to a man. He wasn't taking his chances of anyone seeing him in his fur skin. Reaching for his pack he easily tugged on his clothes before the stranger came in to view. "Didn't expect to see anyone else out here this early.." slipped from his lips gently.

“Good,” she said simply. Not that she believed him that easily. She didn’t exactly have much experience with allies, but all the more reason not to trust them, right? “You say idealistic, I say naive… potato, potahto, right?” She shrugged. She couldn’t afford idealism. Not anymore. “Maybe if they stopped killing us, but I guess we’re guilty until proven innocent. With Jackson and judge, jury, and executioner.”

Farren chuckled a little at her comparison of his idealism to nativity. “I don’t think wanting to keep the Antioch wolves of today from suffering the same fates of those who were lost ten years ago is naive.” he offered simply his shoulders mimicking her shrug. “And I don’t think that is right either. All facts should be gathered before any kind of judgment is made. What Jackson did was a rash and thoughtless act.” a heavy sigh slipped from his lips as he ran his fingers through his hair. “I want to make sure are kind survives.. if that means I am going to have to lay down in the middle of two waring packs to keep people alive. Then that is what I intend to do. War isn’t a win for anyone... ever... its just another reason for people out side of our species to think we’re nothing more then a pack of animals.”
