eraqus and xehanort both train as keyblade apprentices under their master and neither of them approve of xehanort’s infatuation with darkness and balance ― xeha often gets in trouble if ever bringing it up around his master , especially during training , and even though xehanort is a very opinionated individual who isn’t afraid to speak his mind and turn some heads after a long time of pushing back he has finally caved ( somewhat ) and leaves it be , behaving himself in their presence the majority of the time .
to combat this and follow his own ideals xehanort trains in secret outside of their teachings , finding secluded areas of scala ad caelum to use as practice grounds .
thanks to his official training , xehanort is very skilled with light magic
he nurtures the darkness within him , often urging it or calling to it to make it stronger . he can cast certain dark spells
as a side note to this ― xehanort is very well learned in how darkness can overtake , therefore he never calls or urges recklessly . xeha treats the darkness like a feral beast , asserting his dominance and control over it to keep it in line
the main goal of his private practicing is to gain control of both powers in equal balance , right now he can summon both light and dark magic one by one or at once in separate palms , but he’s ultimately aiming to call both as one unified entity
the attack he practices most frequently aims to cover his keyblade in an aura of intertwined dark and light and use it either to hack and slash / shoot off balls of energy / or launch into his whip
this is the only thing he actively keeps secret from eraqus , the one person he trusts to tell everything to and knows will not accuse him of turning sides , even if he does not approve
