for a better tomorrow
You don't have to grieve alone.
fixed it.
sure why not
yknow, when i started dabbling in gardening, I was like "what is the point of hostas? they are Boring. they are just Leaves. Who cares"
but now???? friend hosta. beloved friend hosta who can always be relied upon. they do not give a single fuck about how you treat them. I just propagated one of my hostas by walking up to it, ripping off a stalk close to the ground, shoving it in some potting soil, and dumping water on it every other day or so. that was two weeks ago. It's sprouting its first and second new leaf because it does not give a fuck.
Sun? Shade? the hosta does not give a fuck. Soil type? Does not care. Hardiness zone? fuckin MOST of them. Water needs? It won't flop over dramatically if it goes without for a while. And they come in all sorts of goddamn sizes and different colors and leaf shapes and some are stripy and some have frilly-edged leaves. You just stick them in the ground and forget about them and come back two weeks later to find them straight up vibing.
AND THEY'RE EDIBLE?????
anyway i have six different hosta varietals now
made me curious enough to go look up pictures.
The blue-and-red ones on the top row and the pink one on the bottom row are either AI or Photoshopped. The others (including the cool white one) are legit though.
There are some hostas that have a bluish cast to them. I have the "Neptune" varietal, but it's still a distinctly GREEN shade, as in this photo. The Neptune hosta is the one on the left -- i chose this photo to illustrate how bluish the variety looks in comparison to more green-green plants (source):
You CAN get hostas with a reddish cast, like this one, "Bloodline" (source) (which i now need, that looks cool as hell):
The white hosta pictured above (the varietal is called "White Feather") is the craziest color i've seen -- everything else has been shades of green (ranging from a deep cool green (like on "Neptune") to a bright almost neon chartreuse green ("Curly Fries" or "Holar Sunset Python")...
or green striped with white ("Fire and Ice") or green striped with yellow ("Island Breeze")
If you're going to buy plants, do not get them from Amazon -- sellers photoshop the images A LOT and those bright fantasy colors are not real. Buy from reputable, reliable vendors online OR check out your local plant nurseries so you can see what you're buying in person.
Hexagonal growth in a black olive tree
Let's play: Is it AI or Real?
Red flags: Unbelievable nature you've never seen before!, no external source cited, low image quality could be hiding AI artifacts, lacks scientific name for plant, OP is an aesthetic blog (no offense, I see you credit most of the artists you post, OP <3).
Green flags: Common name of the tree provided (although the leaves don't look like any olive tree I've ever seen).
Reverse image searches and citation trails all seem to lead back to now-deleted Reddit posts. Google Images says it's this one in r/NatureIsFuckingLit, and TinEye says it's this one in r/interestingasfuck. Both were posted back in 2020. This is important because the rise of AI images was in 2022.
People in the comments of places this image is posted throw around botanical terms like "dichotomous branching" [branches split into two at the nodes] and "divaricated" [branches grow far apart from each other], which are cool, but don't tell me what the tree is.
Searching up "Black Olive" on iNaturalist finally got me some answers, and it turns out that YES. This is a real tree! This tree is a Dwarf Black Olive (Terminalia molinetii, Formerly Bucida spinosa). The above photos are some particularly nicely framed shots of a tree with particularly small leaves, which really highlights the branching structure. I really wish we knew the photographer's name. Here are some more photos of the same species:
Terminalia molinetii by jriveracruz50 on iNaturalist, posted under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
This tree is native to Southern Mexico, Belize, the southern tip of Florida, and Cuba. Dwarf Black Olives are completely unrelated to Olive trees in the Olea genus that I'm more familiar with (the former is in Order Myrtales [Myrtles, Evening Primroses, and Allies], and the latter is in Order Lamiales [Mints, Plantains, Olives, and Allies]).
Stay critical, and –more importantly– curious, y'all! The world is a beautiful place, we don't need fictional plants passed off as real ones for that to be true.

Reaper/Emre. I apologize for the inaccuracy of the gear but i lost my patience, so i improvised. And i know that Gabriel is suppose to look more like....well...dead and scarred. Thats why i made 2 very disgustingly lazy options where his eyes look absolutely super dead in the top one ha...ha....
But i cant help myself i just love reapers design from the Soldier 24 skin.
i like the idea of genji and fika being best friends
its 2026 i cannot handle any more fucking "author A obviously ripped off author B" discourse by people Who Have Only Seen the work of author B and admit themselves that they have no further knowledge of the literary landscape they are moving in. like.
hes annoying yes but have u considered his graduation day
