The real #hiddenfigures. Starting from the left is Dorothy Vaughan, Katherine Johnson and Mary Jackson. Dorothy was NASA's first black supervisor and a self taught programmer. Katherine Johnson was responsible for calculating the trajectories for astronauts, including that of the first American in Space, Alan Shepherd. Mary Jackson was NASA's first black female Engineer. Their stories are told in the Hidden Figures film starring #TarajiPHenson, #OctaviaSpencer and #JanelleMonae. Better yet, pick up the book, Hidden Figures by by Margot Lee Shetterly.
