LeBron James Debuts Upcoming John Elliott Sneaker Collab

John Elliott has had a number of high-profile Nike collaborations, and last night the world got their first look at his biggest yet. The designer is teaming up with The King himself, LeBron James, for an all-new Nike LeBron sneaker model this summer. James debuted the never-before-seen sneaker Monday night by wearing a pair to his home arena before Game 4 of the Cleveland Cavs versus Boston Celtics Eastern Conference Finals series. Almost simultaneously, John Elliott’s Instagram account teased a look at the premium sneaker. Officially dubbed the LeBron James x John Elliott x Nike Icon, the sneaker features a semi-translucent synthetic upper with striped detailing. It’s completed with the full-length Air Max sole of the Nike LeBron 8, which is cited as Elliott’s  favorite LeBron signature model. Kendall Jenner’s new commercial for Longchamp is here. The supermodel has been teasing behind-the-scenes footage of it since April, but she finally released the official clip via Instagram on Friday. Stuart Weitzman Creative Director Steps Down, ‘Behavior Fell Short’ of Company Standards

Just one year after making a grand entrance as the first person, other than Stuart Weitzman, to take the creative reins of his namesake shoe label — Giovanni Morelli has resigned. (Weitzman had led the brand’s creative vision since launch.) Puma made headlines in March when it announced a sneaker collaboration with video game giant Sega featuring the beloved ’90s character Sonic the Hedgehog. Now, the highly anticipated capsule officially has a worldwide release date: June 5. The Puma x Sega RS-0 comes in two colorways that take respective cues from Sonic the Hedgehog and his archnemesis, Dr. Eggman. Lindsay Vonn’s Request to Compete Against Men Has Been Delayed

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that alpine ski legend Lindsey Vonn finds inspiration in women’s tennis great Billie Jean King, who famously defeated then-retired men’s standout Bobby Riggs in 1973’s “Battle of the Sexes.” Having already amassed seven World Championship and three Olympic medals against women in her illustrious career, she now wants to compete against men. However, her quest to race against men and conquer her male counterparts on a professional stage has been delayed. Vonn submitted a request in 2017 to the International Ski Federation requesting permission to compete against men, and the organization said it would vote on it in May its biennial FIS Congress in Costa Navarino, Greece. However, on May 16 — while the meeting was taking place — the federation stated that the topic had been tabled. “I didn’t actually intend for [the vote] to get pushed back. Women Are Ditching High Heels in Favor of Sneakers at a Rapid Pace

In a few short years, sneakers have progressed from a gym staple to an accessory fit for the royal wedding reception, and nowhere is this shift in attitudes more evident than in sales of women’s shoes. In 2017, the women’s leisure sneaker category soared 37 percent to $2.3 billion in the U.S., outpacing the men’s and kids’ segments and leading the overall category to a high of $9.2 billion, according to the NPD Group’s Retail Tracking Service. The surge in interest in athleisure has left other shoe silhouettes to languish, however: sales of high heels (shoes with heels three inches or higher) fell 12 percent in the same period, relinquishing market share in the $12 billion dress, casual, and evening shoe market. High heels now account for less than 20 percent of that market, down from more than half in 2011, according to NPD. Perhaps unsurprisingly considering recent trends, the research company found that flats, block and kitten heels were the growth drivers in 2017. The trend shows few signs of abating either, as offices around the country continue to relax their dress codes and shoppers spend more and more of their clothing budgets on activewear. Alibaba Ups Competition With Investment In Online Wholesale Marketplace

On the heels of major funding in a facial recognition software startup and its ongoing competition with Amazon, Alibaba Group has become a strategic investor in the online wholesale fashion technology firm Ordre, a spokesperson for the luxury-focused tech company revealed. “The cooperation between our respective businesses will enable the company to accelerate the development of our technologies,” said Simon Lock, Ordre’s founder and CEO. “We [also look forward to adding] value for the designers we work with and create pathways to the lucrative luxury fashion market in China.” Ordre’s online wholesale marketplace’s capabilities allow buyers to review collections and “place wholesale orders online when they can’t always be physically present to touch and feel collections,” the spokesman said.
