I know you mentioned that DU Drow does not fuck with Halsin, but does his opinion of Halsin change for Bear!Halsin? Is he like, "oh hell yeah he can smack a humanoid's head off with his bear hands" or does Halsin's bear duties like sleeping and terrorizing bees upset DU Drow even further?
I'm not sure that I fully understand your question, but if the assumption is that DU drow's dislike for Halsin comes from a lack of skill in battle, that isn't the case. Lae'zel was really effective warrior and he didn't like her, either š
And one thing that both Halsin and Lae'zel had in common, from DU drow's POV, was a promise of a cure that they were unable to deliver. Lae'zel talks a big game and then tries to murder-suicide everyone in camp - Halsin promises to help them AFTER they help him first. Twice. And then just gives them vague directions to a place where they potentially may find answers - ah, and asks them for help for a third time, this time in fixing the Shadow Curse. Truth be told they would have probably gotten along alright enough if Halsin had accompanied the party into Act 3, but he unfortunately delivered a very bad impression upon DU drow at a time when he was especially on edge and difficult to reason with.
And then there's the (again, from DU drow's perspective, not necessarily mine) patronizing air, the constant druidic prattling, and worse of all: the sexual advances. There is no worse insult to him than to be pursued by someone he isn't attracted to š
But I think that if things had gone differently, DU drow and Halsin would have at least eventually entered friendly terms - even if they never turned out to be the kind of "friends" that hang out with each other.
