Could there have been a HINT of sarcasm in her remark, or did the first fairy Belle had ever encountered happen to be quite the confident sort? It sure caused the girl to let out a soft chuckle. However dislikable her curiosity may be in the other’s opinion, it was curiosity indeed that drew her eyes to every little aspect of the fairy tale-like creature. “Those wings… They’re beautiful. —- although I must say I never expected fairies to be so small. It does explain why I’ve never seen one before, I suppose.”

     She had to weigh her pleasure in being complimented for her wings against the insult she took at being called small (she was actually quite tall for a fairy of her kind.) Vidia decided upon assuming her usual over-arrogant attitude in responding, “Of course my wings are magnificent. I’m the fastest-flying Never fairy of all.“ The idea was that boasting a larger than life talent would draw attention away from her other attributes.

     “Now, my sweet,” she said, quirking an accusatory eyebrow as to say her involuntary host was being rude, “would you care to offer me a cup of tea or should I land elsewhere?”
